Malacological Diversity on Some Lamiaceae in the Region of Tlemcen (Northwest Algeria)

Other aromatic species ... The region of Tlemcen is located in the northwestern part of Algeria. Its arid climate leads to the degradation of vegetation in open formation, where can be found the doum, the diss and broom. Other aromatic species such as rosemary, thyme, lavender and horehound are considered as well. The four previous aromatic species belong to the family Labiatae for their morphological and botanical characters. The authors propose to design an approach to identify the diversity of malacofauna found on these different Lamiaceae. These are certainly a nutritional source for this malacological fauna. So, a survey was performed in various stations. The malacological richness is estimated to be 19 for thyme, 18 for rosemary, 16 for lavender, and finally 7 for horehound. It includes four families, namely Milacidae, Sphincterochilidae, Helicidae and Subulinidae. Milacidae are present only in horehound and lavender stations. On the other hand, the Sphincterochilidae, namely Sphincterochila candidissima, is absent on horehound. Rumina decollata is the only species in the family Subulinidae. As for the family Helicidae, it is the richest and includes two specific subfamilies: Helicinae and Helicellinae. The first subfamily consists of 11 species of thyme, 10 species of rosemary and lavender. The second subfamily includes 6 species of thyme and rosemary and 3 of lavender, respectively. In addition, the author tries to look for the malacological species specific to each of these plants and those who are common to them as well. Morphology and structure of the ovipositor in Macrocentrus cingulum (Hymenoptera: Braconidae), a polyembryonic parasitoid

The ovipositor of parasitic insect is a highly specialized organ and crucial for parasitising. Morphology and structure of the ovipositor in female Macrocentrus cingulum, a polyembryonic parasitoid, are observed in SEM studies. The ovipositor of M. cingulum consists of the valvulae 1, 2 and 3. The valvulae 1 and 2 of ovipositor house in the valvulae 3 at rest and the valvulae 1 and 2 part from the valvulae 3 at probing and ovipositing. The cross-section of valvulae 3 shows that the valvulae 3 is hollow which may reduce the weight of ovipositor and make the ovipositor more flexible. The distal end of stylus (valvulae l, 2) becomes extremely sharp and the piercing tip of valvulae 1 and 2 form the arrangement of tongue-and-groove. This arrangement may support valvulae 2 slide longitudinally along the valvulae 1. Numbers of pores are distributed on the cuticle of the valvulae l and 2. The piecing tip of valvulae 1 and 2 have more pores than proximal and intermediate region. The out side of valvulae 3 is completely covered with chactica sensilla and the distal end of valvulae 3 has more sensilla than proximal and intermediate region. The function and structure of ovipositor of M. cingulum was discussed and compared with other species. 展开更多

Application of damage control orthopedics in 41 patients with severe multiple injuries 被引量:6

Objective: To probe the feasibility and efficacy of damage control orthopedics (DCO) in treating severe multiple injuries. Methods: A retrospective analysis was made on the clinical data of 41 patients (31 males and 10 females, aged 18-71 years, mean: 36.4) with multiple injuries admitted to our department and treated by DCO from January 1995 to December 2005. Results: As a first-stage therapy, devascularization of internal iliac arteries was performed in 29 patients with pelvic fractures combined with massive bleeding, including ligation of bilateral internal iliac arteries in 21 patients and embolization of bilateral internal iliac arteries in 8. And early external fixation of pelvis was performed in 10 patients. Ten patients with severe multiple injuries combined with femoral fractures were managed with primary debridement and temporal external fixation and 2 patients with spinal fractures combined with spinal cord compression received simple laminectomy. Thirty-one patients received definite internal fixation after resuscitation in intensive care unit. The overall mortality rate was 12.1% (5/41) with an average injury severity score of 41.4. The main causes of death were hemorrhagic shock and associated injuries. Complications occurred in 7 patients including acute respiratory distress syndrome in 3 cases, thrombosis of right common iliac artery in 1, subphernic abscess in 2 and infection of deep wound in lower extremity in 1. After treatment, all the patients got cured. Conclusions: Prompt diagnosis and integrated treatment are keys to higher survival rate in patients with severe multiple injuries. In this condition, DCO is an effective and safe option. 展开更多

In this paper, multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO) technology is introduced into the design of airship shape. We devise a composite objective function, based on this technology, which takes account of various factors which influence airship performance, including aerodynamics, structures, energy and weight to determine the optimal airship shape. A shape generation algorithm is proposed and appropriate mathematical models are constructed. Simulation results show that the optimized shape gives an improvement in the value of the composite objective function compared with a reference shape. 展开更多
