A color compensation model is developed in RGB channels and then extended to YCbCr channels for practical use. A modified inter-view reference picture is constructed based on the color compensation model, which is more similar to the coding picture than the original inter-view reference picture. Moreover, the color compensation factors can be derived in both encoder and decoder, therefore no additional data need to be transmitted to the decoder. The experimental results show that the proposed method improves the coding efficiency of MVC and maintains good subjective quality.展开更多

But the matching error causes spectral distortion and degradation in processing of image fusion with IHS method. A study on IHS fusion indicates that the color distortion can't be avoided. Meanwhile, the statistical property of wavelet coefficient with wavelet decomposition reflects those significant features, such as edges, lines and regions. So, a united optimal fusion method, which uses the statistical property and IHS transform on pixel and feature levels, is proposed. That is, the high frequency of intensity component Ⅰ is fused on feature level with multi-resolution wavelet in IHS space. And the low frequency of intensity component Ⅰ is fused on pixel level with optimal weight coefficients. Spectral information and spatial resolution are two performance indexes of optimal weight coefficients. Experiment results with QuickBird data of Shanghai show that it is a practical and effective method.展开更多

Methods Twelve patients with IPMN underwent surgery between May 2005 and December 2008, including 4 (33.3%) with adenoma and 8 (66.7%) with adenocarcinoma. IPMN was classified preoperatively into 3 types based on sonographic findings of different sites: main duct, branch duct, and combined type. All clinical presentations and ultrasonographic findings of those paticnts were reviewed and the correlation be- tween ultrasonographic hndings and histopathological results was analyzed. Results There were 9 men and 3 women with a mean age of 60.1±9.6 years (range, 32-73). OF all the 12 patients with IPMN, 9 (75.0%) had experienced some symptoms of epigastric discomfort and/or pain as cell as backache; 7 cases were with medical history of acute pancreatitis, 5 cases with diabetes, 4 cases with elevated CA19-9, and 2 cases with steatorrhea. All lesions of IPMN have been revealed by transabdominal ul- trasonography. The mean diameters of the lesions were 1.4±0.8 cm (range, 0.5-2.0) and 6.3±6.0 cm (range, 2.0-20.0) in adenomas and adenocarcinomas, respectively. And the mean diameters of the main duct in adelnomas and adenocarcinomas were 1.0±0.8 cm and 1.6±1.0 cm, respectively. Among the 4 adnomas, 3 (75.0%) cases were classified as branch type based on sonographic findings, and 2 were demonstrated as mural nodules in which no color signals was detected. Among the 8 adenocarcinomas, 5 (62.5%) cases were classifled as main duct type, and 3 (37.5%) as combined type. In 7 of the 8 adcnocarcinomas, mural nodules were detected within the dilated ducts or cysts of the lesions in which color flow signals were detected. Conclusions Transabdominal ultrasonography can reveal the pancreatic cystic lesions of IPMN as well as dilated pancreatic: ducts. Some characteristics should be noticed as suggesting the possibility of malignancy: clinical symptoms of pancreatic insufficiency, large tumor size, and mural nodules with color Doppler flow signals. Transabdominal ultrasonography could be a useful tool to help diagnose and make appropriate management of IPMN.展开更多

In the present study, we first investigated the genetic variation at the MHC II β gene in orange-spotted grouper (Epinephelus coioides) after a challenge with Singapore grouper iridovirus (SGIV). The results reveal that a high polymorphism level of the MHC II β gene (H = 1.000; K = 20.206; π=0.081) and at least three loci exist in grouper. The rate of dN/dS in the peptide-binding region (PBR) and non-PBR were both 〉1, suggesting the loci were evolving under positive selection. A high ratio of heterozygous individuals (37.26 %) and high rate of dN/dS were discovered, suggesting that both heterozygote advantage and frequency-dependent selection might result in the high polymorphism levels in MHC II β genes in grouper. A total of 33 MHC II β alleles were identified from 40 high-susceptibility (HS) and 40 high-re- sistance group (HR) individuals, and 15 alleles were used in the association analysis. Three alleles, EPCO-DBB*0302, EPCO-DBB*0307, EPCO-DBB*0603, and EPCO- DBB*1001 were significantly associated with resistance ability to SG1V, and the EPCO-DBB*0607 and EPCO-DBB*1303 alleles were associated with susceptibility (P 〈 0.05). To further confirm the association, another independent challenge experiment was performed. The result of association analysis in the verification test found that only EPCO-DBB*1001 alleles were significantly asso- ciated with resistance to SGIV (P 〈 0.05), while the other alleles showed no significance (P 〉 0.05) in the frequency distribution between HR and HS groups. Therefore, the EPCO-DBB* 1001 alleles could be used as a disease resis- tance-related MHC marker in the molecular marker-assisted selective breeding program of grouper.展开更多

Aposematic wood tiger moth males Parasemia plantaginis have either white or yellow hindwing coloration across Eu- rope. Previous studies indicate that yellow males are better defended from predators, while white males have a positively frequency-dependent mating advantage. However, the potential frequency-dependent behavioural differences in flight between the morphs, as well as the role of male-male interactions in inducing flying activity, have not been previously considered. We ran an outdoor cage experiment where proportions of both male morphs were manipulated to test whether flying activity was frequency- dependent and differed between morphs. The white morph was significantly more active than the yellow one across all treatments, and sustained activity for longer. Overall activity for both morphs was considerably lower in the yellow-biased environment, suggesting that higher proportions of yellow males in a population may lead to overall reduced flying activity. The activity of the yellow morph also followed a steeper, narrower curve than that of the white morph during peak female calling activity. We sug- gest that white males, with their presumably less costly defences, have more resources to invest in flight for predator escape and finding mates. Yellow males, which are better protected but less sexually selected, may instead compensate their lower flight ac- tivity by 'flying smart' during the peak female-calling periods. Thus, both morphs may be able to behaviourally balance the trade-off between warning signal selection and sexual selection. Our results emphasize the greater need to investigate animal behaviour and colour polymorphisms in natural or semi-natural environments [Current Zoology 61 (4): 765-772, 2015].展开更多
