A Cr/Cr2N/CrN multilayer coating with a thickness of 24.4 μm was deposited by multi-arc ion plating. The coating was systematically characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM), X-ray photoelectron spectrometry(XPS), energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS), X-ray diffraction(XRD) and transmission electron microscopy(TEM). Hardness and adhesion were tested by nanoindentation and scratch tester, respectively. The friction properties were investigated by a reciprocating UMT-3MT ball-on-disk tribometer in air and seawater. The results showed that the multilayer coating consisted of three different layers, with Cr,Cr2N and CrN phases, respectively. Compared with CrN single layer coating, the adhesion of the multilayer coating was improved significantly, the hardness of the multilayer coating was(21±2) GPa. The corrosion resistance of the multilayer coating was also improved in artificial seawater. The friction coefficient of multilayer coating was lower than that of CrN single layer coating both in air and seawater. 展开更多

Cutting performance of multilayer diamond coated silicon nitride inserts in machining aluminum-silicon alloy 被引量:8

Aluminum-silicon (Al-Si) alloy is very difficult to machine and diamond tools are considered by far the best choice for the machining of these materials. Experimental results in the machining of the Al-Si alloy with diamond coated inserts are presented. Considering the fact that high adhesive strength and fine surface morphology play an importance role in the applications of chemical vapor deposition (CVD) diamond films, multilayer technique combining the hot filament CVD (HFCVD) method is proposed, by which multilayer diamond-coating on silicon nitride inserts is obtained, microcrystalline diamond (MCD)/ nanocrystalline diamond (NCD) film. Also, the conventional monolayer NCD and MCD coated inserts are produced for comparison. The as-deposited diamond films are characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and Raman spectrum. All the CVD diamond coated inserts and uncoated insert endure the aluminum-silicon alloy turning to estimate their cutting performances. Among all the tested inserts, the MCD/NCD coated insert exhibits the perfect behavior as tool wear due to its very low flank wear and no diamond peeling. 展开更多

In order to investigate the microstructure of TiN and TiAlN coatings and their effect on the wear resistance of Mg alloy, TiN and TiAlN coatings were deposited on AZ91 magnesium alloy by multi-arc ion plating technology.TiN and Ti70Al30N coatings were prepared on the substrate,respectively,which exhibited dark golden color and compact microstructure.The microstructures of TiN and Ti70Al30N coatings were investigated by X-ray diffractometry(XRD)and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The micro-hardness and wear resistance of TiN and Ti70Al30N coatings were investigated in comparison with the uncoated AZ91 alloy. The XRD peaks assigned to TiN and TiAlN phases are found.The hardness of TiN coatings is two times as high as that of AZ91 alloy, and Ti70Al30N coating exhibits the highest hardness.The wear resistance of the hard coatings increases obviously as result of their high hardness. 展开更多

VAlN coating is of particular interest for dry cutting applications owing to its low-friction and excellent abrasiveness.Nano-multilayer structure is designed to tailor the properties of VAlN coating.In this work,a series of VAlN/Si_(3)N_(4) nano-multilayer coatings with varied Si_(3)N_(4) layer thicknesses were prepared by reactive sputtering method.The microstructure and mechanical properties of the coatings were both investigated.It is revealed that Si_(3)N_(4) with a shallow thickness(~0.4 nm)was crystallized and grown coherently with VAlN,showing a remarkable increase in hardness compared to VAlN monolayer coating.The hardness of coherently VAlN/Si_(3)N_(4) nano-multilayer coatings reached to 48.7 GPa.With further increase of Si_(3)N_(4) layer thickness,the coherent growth of nano-multilayers was terminated,showing amorphous structure formed in nano-multilayers and the hardness was declined.On the other hand,when Si_(3)N_(4) layer thickness was 0.4 nm,the friction coefficient of VAlN/Si_(3)N_(4) nano-multilayer coating was almost equal to that of VAlN monolayer coating,which was attributed to the crystallization of Si_(3)N_(4) and the produced coherent interfaces between VAlN and Si_(3)N_(4) for the hardening effect of nano-multilayer coatings.Upon further increase of Si_(3)N_(4) layer thickness,pronounced improvement of friction coefficient in VAlN/Si_(3)N_(4) nano-multilayer coating was observed. 展开更多

太赫兹测厚技术因其高精度和非接触性,已成为测量多涂层结构厚度的新途径。通过太赫兹时域光谱技术确定涂层厚度时,通常使用全局优化算法,并需要预先知道涂层的层数。然而在某些应用中,层数往往是未知的,这影响了太赫兹测厚技术的适用... 太赫兹测厚技术因其高精度和非接触性,已成为测量多涂层结构厚度的新途径。通过太赫兹时域光谱技术确定涂层厚度时,通常使用全局优化算法,并需要预先知道涂层的层数。然而在某些应用中,层数往往是未知的,这影响了太赫兹测厚技术的适用性和精度。通过优化支持向量机模型确定涂层层数,并比较不同改进分类算法的性能。确定层数后,利用Rouard模型对每层厚度进行全局拟合来确定涂层厚度,从而实现对未知层数的多涂层结构的分层厚度测量。在机械臂驱动的太赫兹时域光谱系统对曲面多涂层样品进行测厚的实验中验证了所提方法的可行性。 展开更多

In order to improve the corrosion resistance of nanoporous coppers (NPCs), the electroless Ni-P coated NPCs were prepared in plating solutions with different pH values (5, 8, 11) and complexing agent (actic acid, citric acid). The morphologies and cor- rosion resistances of the as-prepared samples were investigated. The results showed that the double complexing agent com- posed of lactic acid and citric acid is relatively suitable for preparing the Ni-P coated NPC with three-dimensional continuous interpenetrating ligament-channel structures, and the uniform ligaments and nanoporous channels could be obtained at pH8. The Ni-P coated NPC showed higher corrosion potentials than NPC in H2S04, NaOH and NaC1 corrosion solutions. 展开更多
