浅谈多语文本的功能和翻译策略

文学作品中的方言对于刻画人物形象、表达情感起着重要作用。语言作为文化的载体,往往带有一定的文化色彩。因此无论从语言学的角度,还是从历史研究的角度来看,方言的运用在文学作品中都具有不可替代的功能。本文着重论述了方言在文学作品中的重要功能,以及译者在翻译外国小说时应采取何种方式来处理方言与标准通用语掺杂的现象。

多语文图书及其著录

现行的编目教材中,对多语文图书及其著录问题,有些一字不提,有些点到即止,唯独黄俊贵、罗健雄两同志编著的《新编图书馆目录》正式提到并较多论述了多语文图书及其著录问题。近10年,随着国内改革开放的进一步深入,对外文化交流的进一步扩大,国内外出版发行的多语文图书越来越多。作为图书编目部门,对此必须引起重视和关注。

多语文本视野下的元史研究

元史研究涉及二十多种语言文献资料,以汉文、蒙古文和波斯语文献史料为主。元代的文书、文献资料、考古文献呈现多语文本合璧的书写形式,国内外留存下来不少多语文本文献资料和考古遗存。这些多语文本文献资料和考古遗存的发掘与运用,使国内外学者在元史研究方面拓宽了视野。新时代的元史研究,在多语文本资料互证的背景下,需要我们具有整体研究的思路。韩儒林先生利用多语文本资料的互证与审音勘同的方法,在元史研究方面取得丰硕的成果。韩儒林先生拓宽了中国元史研究的视野,尤其在利用多语文本资料互证研究方面奠定了基础。新成立的元史研究室注重多语文本资料的挖掘,开展考古学、历史学、语言学、民族学跨学科、跨朝代、多线条的研究。

翻译、多语文本与身份认同——林语堂汉语散文中的多语现象分析

林语堂的汉语散文是一个多语杂合的文本集合。本文运用综合分析法,将林语堂的汉语散文作为一个整体的分析单元,从语言接触视角分析文本中因翻译引发的多语现象的特征、多语现象产生的文本意图及其功能,从新的角度揭示林语堂在特定历史语境下实现身份认同的独特途径。

论多语文图书处理

在多语文文别处理中,西方某些国家图书馆与中国图书馆做法不同,它们的做法是在同一分类号下,将不同语言的图书排列在一起,组成字典式的目录。我国图书馆目录,长期以来已形成多语种分立体系,主要有中文、西文、日文、俄文四种语文的目录。因此,在图书分编工作中,就存在如何正确区分多语文图书文别的问题,即有关的多语文图书应该归入哪种藏书、用什么语言登录、著录和组织目录等问题,这就是所谓多语文图书的处理问题。多语文图书处理是藏书组织的重要问题,它直接影响读者对有关图书的检索和利用。

“同文之治”:清朝多语文政治文化的构拟与实践

清朝如何维持对广袤疆域、多元族群的有效治理,学界已有诸多不无启发的考察。回归清人的语境中,与大一统相表里的"同文"成为清代君臣描述盛治时最常使用的语汇。事实上,"同文"在清代政治文化的构建中具有基础性的作用,其政治意义的解读也形成两条交互为用的线索。一方面,经由清高宗对经义的发挥与新解,以多语文为表征的多元族群与文化共存于同一统治框架之中,共奉大清声教。较之前代,各族群及其文化得到相对平等地承认与对待。另一方面,清帝发挥同文的教化意义,通过纂修书籍、规范语言等举措整齐文教、尊儒重道,实现治道合一。同文的两种解释路向共同交汇于清代皇权,使同文之治得以跨越语言与族群的界域而具有超轶前代的治理效力,也为清代统治正统性的论说提供了思想资源。

浅析英语文学汉译中杂合现象的成因

基于多语文本在当代英语文学作品中已大量存在,这些多语文本的杂合处理被广泛应用在原作的汉语翻译实践当中。本文对英语文学作品汉译中杂合现象产生的原因做出分析,并揭示杂合对英语作品的翻译及对译文读者产生的意义。

意大利当代文学中的“方言潮”

语言作为人类交际工具,是任意性的。标准语与方言,方言与口语,口语与书面语,书面语中文体的选择,都从不同侧面体现着语言的任意性特征。文学作品中方言的运用,有着不可替代的特殊作用,并且也跟作家的个人方言、社会情境特征、作品内容等紧密相连。语言、方言、文学作品自然也就相互关联、彼此结合而统一起来。

Language and Culture in Foreign Language Teaching

Culture plays a very important role in language teaching. A deep study of the relationship between language and culture is not only necessary but also urgent in language teaching and learning. The paper briefly points out that in order to make teaching more effective, teachers should not only teach the language itself, but also teach the culture in the language while teaching the foreign language. It analyzes the differences of language customs reflecting in different cultures among different languages （between European languages such as English, Russian and Asian languages such as Kazakh, Chinese）. The analysis of diversity of different social cultures and different language customs of commtmication shows that the culture has a great influence upon the language. It includes the next components： （1） diversity of different geographies, natural environment, and customs, （2） differences of the history, religion, and belief, and （3） diversity of different thoughts of understanding objectivities. Further suggestions concerning how to use culture factors in the teaching procedure are also introduced in detail, such as： （1） the teacher＇s role; （2） the way of explanation, （3） the way of contrast; and （4） the way of practice. In order to conduct foreign language teaching well, teachers must take up the teaching of culture and the teaching of language at the same time. As long as the emphasis is laid both linguistic skills and communicative competence, the goals of language teaching will be achieved satisfactorily.

Literary Translation and Loanwords： A Study of English and Igbo Translations ofFranz Kafka＇s Brief an den Vater

Multilingualism and multiculturalism have become so characteristic of our times that it is hard to come by a literary work that is strictly monolingual. Languages in contact influence each other in various ways. One language could be more influential than the other as a result of linguistic and non-linguistic factors. A language that is documented and enjoys a more privileged political, economic, cultural, or religious position is likely to be more influential than another language that lacks these qualities. Languages in contact often borrow words from each other though a language that is considered to be more prestigious than another is more likely to be the donor language less prestigious one. Loanwords are therefore common among languages in contact. Intercultural literary communication is mostly effected through translation. Due to Africa＇s colonial experience, literary translation practice in Africa often involves European languages, Arabic, and indigenous African languages. In Nigeria, the languages that have played significant roles in literary translation include English, French, German, Arabic, and indigenous Nigerian languages. Franz Kafka＇s Brief an den Vater which was written in German has been translated into English as Letter to His Father by Ernest Kaiser and Eithne Wilkins and into Igbo as Soro Okwu m maobu Leta （Ndi） Nna by Felicia Ibemesi. The Effect of Globalization on the Language Policy in a Multi-Cultural Kazakhstan

This paper focuses on the language policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It is intended to invite the readers for the broadening of the debate on the issues raised. The 20th century, for Kazakhs, became a century of tragic events which transformed them into the minority on their own native land. In spite of many collisions in history Kazakhs have not lost their language, the main wealth. At the beginning of the 21st century, Kazakhstan has tackled a lot of problems, connected with national and ethnic issues, social structure, and foreign and home policy. Paralinguistic and Kinesic Codes of Performance： An Intercultural Gilgamesh

This paper examines the directing, acting and rehearsal process in transforming the ancient Babylonian epic Gilgamesh for the stage using performers＇ journals as a means of determining the effect of corporeal non-western styles on actors whose prior experience was almost exclusively in naturalistic and text-based theatre. The introduction of theatrical elements from multiple cultures including puppetry and the masks and techniques of Noh drama created a multi-tiered field for intercultural exchange. While Patrice Pavis＇s hourglass model for the transfer of theatrical material from a source to a target culture may hold true for productions that use linear modes of transmission, translation and incorporation of text, music, costumes and styles, its limitations make it necessary to posit alternative theories that take into account intercultural rehearsal practices, the collaboration of source and target culture and the dynamic interactions that take place through the agency of actor training in the fleshly physical theatre.

Arabic Language in Multicultural Dynamism： Chronological Effects on Nigeria＇s Heritage

Of such notice that researchers documented in their compendium about the spawn of Arabs and their language dwindled in mono-cultural boundary for many memorable years. It is of the fact that the relevance of Arabic language is not only restricted to the people spoken it as their mother language. Thus, it is globally applauded due to its effective recognitions and relevancies in other cultures and all human strata. History shows that the place of Arabic language in multicultural society is very applausive, especially after the emergence of Islam, when Islam spread beyond its domain to other continents like Asia, Europe, Africa, America, etc. Apparently, the position of Arabic language in multicultural societies, especially Nigeria （has the largest African population） which has predominant ethnic groups, cultures, and more than 400 ethnic dialects, with over 1,850,000,000 population is given a warmly applausive recognization. The reason is that its entry into the country dated back to the seventh century of the Hijrah era in which Arabic had been used for religious, social, economic, and cultural purposes. Therefore, this paper is aiming to give an expository analysis of the relevance of Arabic language in multicultural societies, and take Nigeria as a case study.

This paper focus on the myth of ＂Huang of Xiahoushi＂ （~）：~ ~2_t~）, focusing on the distribution of Jade Huang （夏后氏之璜） since the early neolithic and its process of pluralistic integration. The paper explores the story of ethnic group, cultural identification and the significance of Jade Huang in the discourse construction of etiquette civilization behind the mythic narrative based on multi-evidence method and the local meaning of literature in ancient Chinese context.

Information and Communication Technologies： A Way to Reduce Digital Illiteracy

The teaching-learning process may have several obstacles; one of those would be a cultural situation of students. When the author refers to cultural situation, the author means the language or dialect that they speak. In the state of Puebla, Mexico, there are primary schools where the courses are taught to students who do not speak Spanish and they only speak their own dialect. On the other hand, the use of information and communication technologies in primary schools in Puebla is a fact but a main concern in schools is that the languages in which they are operated are Spanish. To analyze this situation, the author finds that turns out to be very important and with a negative effect on both the implementation and acceptance of a multimedia program in these schools, generating a technological gap between students. The government efforts are decimated because of this cultural divide prevalent in many communities in the state of Puebla and the increase of this situation when considering the illiterate population.

Coh-Metrix 3.0 English Text Comparison between South Korea and China

Sharing the environment of English as a foreign language （EFL） in South Korea and China, English text in the authorized English textbooks deserves a cross-country comparison in the same grade level. This research explored the English texts linguistic characteristics in the authorized English textbooks through Coh-Melrix 3.0 and intended to provide implications to EFL English textbook design in the future. The results suggest that there is a need to be aware of the weaknesses and strengths from each other： the South Korean English texts display a diversity in noun, verbs, adjectives, the mean number of words before the main verb of the main clause in sentence, TTR and lexical diversity; the Chinese English texts reveal an overlap in lexical level （content words, noun, and sentences） and semantic level （syntactic patterns）.

清朝“内亚性”的再商榷——以多民族语文合璧书写为视点

美国"新清史"学者将多民族语文合璧书写视为清朝"内亚性"和区别于传统中原王朝的重要表征,这一观点存在偏颇之处,并不完全符合历史逻辑和史实。首先,清朝合璧书写在相当程度上是对中原明王朝政治文化遗产的继承和发展,并非内亚特有现象。其次,清朝统治者提倡合璧书写的主要动机,是出于维系多民族国家治理的现实需要,而非保持内亚性。再次,清朝统治者在政治文化认同上以中原正统自居,并利用多语合璧重建起以儒家思想为核心的同文秩序,实现了从满洲政权向"大一统"王朝的蜕变,成为"历史中国"的一部分。
