Methods Microinjection of 6-hydroxydopamin (6-OHDA) on the left cor- pus striatum was adopted to prepare rotation model of Parkinson^s disease in rat. Penetration therapy with head electrical acupuncture was administered in treatment. Normal group, sham-operation group, model group and penetration therapy group were set up. (1)lmmunohistochemical (IHC) method was used to test the morphology and count of positive cell of tyrosine hydroxylase (TH). (2)RT-PCR technology was used to detect the expression of nestin mRNA of neural stem cell (NSC). Results (1)Compared with model group, in pene- tration therapy group, the expressions of TH-positive neurons in immune response were increased in areal density (AD), numerical density (ND) and integrating optic density (P〈0.05). (2)Compared with model group, in penetration therapy group, the expression of nestin mRNA was increased (P〈0. 05). Conclusion Penetration therapy with head electrical acupuncture promotes the proliferation of endogenous neural stem cells in substantia nigra of rat model of Parkinson's disease.展开更多

The observation has confirmed that acupuncture is a very effective method for treating this disease, especially to sclerosis patients in the early stage; and furthermore it can slow down the development of the pathological conditions of the patients. Thus it is an important therapeutic method worthy of the choice by European and American clinical doctors.展开更多

Methods: A total of 80 rabbits were randomized into control (n = 8), pseudo-operation (n = 24), model (n = 24) and EA (n = 24) groups. Cerebral infarction model was established by infusion of self-thrombus into the carotid artery. EA (1 mA, 2 Hz) was applied to 'Baihui'(百会 GV 20) and 'Shuigou'(水沟 GV 26) for 30 min, once every 12 hours. Plasma Ang Ⅱ, ALD and ANP contents were detected with radioimmunoassay method. In the later 3 groups, blood samples were taken at 6 h, 24 h and 48 h after cerebral ischemia. Results: Compared with control and pseudo-operation groups, Ang Ⅱ and ALD contents of model group at 6 h, 24 h and 48 h after cerebral ischemia increased significantly while plasma ANP of the 3 time-courses of model group decreased considerably (P<0.01). In comparison with model group, results showed that Ang-Ⅱ and ALD contents of EA group decreased significantly whereas ANP level of EA group increased strikingly (P<0.01). Conclusion: Electroacupuncture has the effects of raising plasma ANP level and lowering plasma Ang-Ⅱ and ALD in cerebral infarction rabbits.展开更多

The therapeutic methods are medication for promoting ovulation and surgery, but, even certain therapeutic effect can be achieved, there is certain side effect and high cost. The author had treated 26 cases of PCOS by acupuncture. Now, the report is given in the following.展开更多

Methods: Fifty-seven patients were randomized into a treatment group (31 cases) and a control group (26 cases). The patients in the treatment group all received combined scalp-body acupuncture treatment, while the patients in the control group were given mono-body acupuncture treatment, for I month as a treatment session. At the end of the third treatment session, the Yale Global Tic Severity Scale (YGTSS) would be compared between pre- and post-treatment. Results: In the treatment group, 2 patients were clinically cured, 4 showed markedly effective, 18 showed effective, and 7 failed, making a total therapeutic rate of 77.4%. In the control group, 0 were clinically cured, 3 showed markedly effective, 9 showed effective, 14 failed, making a total therapeutic rate of 46.2%. There was a significant difference between the two total therapeutic rates (P〈0.05). Conclusion: The combination of scalp and body acupuncture had a better therapeutic result than the mono-body acupuncture therapy in the treatment of Tourette syndrome.展开更多

Methods: A total of 46 cases with non-insulin resistant PCOS were randomly allocated into an observation group of 23 cases and a control group of 23 cases. Cases in the observation group were treated by needling bilateral Weiwanxiashu (Ex-B 3), whereas those in the control group were treated by needling bilateral Sanyinjiao (SP 6). After 3-month treatments, a comparison was made on the changes of ovulations rates, Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), testosterone (T), fasting insulin and body mass index (BMI). Results: There were statistical differences in ovulation rates and LH/FSH before and after the treatment in the observation group (P〈0.05), along with a statistical difference in testosterone changes (P〈0.01). There were also statistical differences in LH and LH/FSH before and after the treatment in the control group (P〉0.05); however, there were no statistical differences in ovulation rates and testosterone changes (P〈0.05). There was significant difference in testosterone changes between the two groups after the treatment (P〈0.01), along with a statistical difference in ovulation rates between the two groups (P〈0.05). However, there were no statistical differences in LH/FSH and BMI between the two groups. Conclusion: Needling Weiwanxiashu (Ex-B 3) and Sanyinjiao (SP 6) can both improve the endocrine disorder of patients with non-insulin resistant PCOS; however, needling Weiwanxiashu (Ex-B 3) can obtain a better result than Sanyinjiao (SP 6) in increasing the insulin sensitivity and preventing insulin resistance.展开更多
