The development of efficient nonprecious bifunctional electrocatalysts for water electrolysis is crucial to enhance the sluggish kinetics of the oxygen evolution reaction(OER)and hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).A self-supporting,multiscale porous NiFeZn/NiZn-Ni catalyst with a triple interface heterojunction on nickel foam(NF)(NiFeZn/NiZn-Ni/NF)was in-situ fabricated using an electroplating-annealing-etching strategy.The unique multiinterface engineering and three-dimensional porous scaffold significantly modify the mass transport and electron interaction,resulting in superior bifunctional electrocatalytic performance for water splitting.The NiFeZn/NiZn-Ni/NF catalyst demonstrates low overpotentials of 187 m V for HER and 320 mV for OER at a current density of 600 mA/cm^(2),along with high durability over 150 h in alkaline solution.Furthermore,an electrolytic cell assembled with NiFeZn/NiZn-Ni/NF as both the cathode and anode achieves the current densities of 600 and 1000 m A/cm^(2) at cell voltages of 1.796 and 1.901 V,respectively,maintaining the high stability at 50 mA/cm^(2) for over 100 h.These findings highlight the potential of NiFeZn/NiZn-Ni/NF as a cost-effective and highly efficient bifunctional electrocatalyst for overall water splitting. 展开更多

Two types of tube bundles are designed,which are,respectively,composed of six tubes arranged in the boiling chamber.The nucleate pool boiling performance of smooth tube bundles and sintered porous surface tube bundles with deionized water as a medium are experimentally studied at atmospheric and sub-atmospheric pressures,respectively.The experimental results indicate that the boiling heat transfer coefficients of the two types of tube bundles increase with the increase in pressure under vacuum conditions as they behave under ordinary pressure.As the pressure varies from 10 to 100 kPa,it also can be seen that the heat transfer coefficient of the sintered porous surface tube is increased by 0.2 to 4 times compared with the smooth one under the same operating parameters.In addition,the experimental data show that a definite bundle effect exists in both sintered porous surface tubes and smooth tubes under vacuum conditions. 展开更多

Experiments were made for the adsorption of CO2 and N2 on typical adsorbents to investigate the effects of porous structure and surface affinity of adsorbents as well as those of adsorption temperature and pressure that might cause the variation of adsorption mechanism. It is shown that polar surface tends to enlarge the adsorption difference between CO2 and N2, and the difference is more sensitive to temperature than the adsorbents with non-polar surface. The adsorbents with non-polar surface are not much sensitive to the effect of water vapor, though the water vapor interferes the separation remarkably. The separation coefficient linearly increases with the micro- pore volume per unit surface area of activated carbons, but no rule is shown on mesoporous silicon materials. The function of adsorption mechanism on the separation is not as much as expected. 展开更多

Presence of different terms with various values can alter the thermal behavior of the nanofluids flow over porous surfaces.The aim of this research is to study the influence of nanoparticles volume fraction,nanoparticles type,suction or injection,the heat generation or absorption,the Eckert number,thermal and velocity slip parameters,and radiation on the velocity and temperature fields on the flow and heat transfer over a porous flat plate.Four different types of nanoparticles including metal nanoparticles (Cu),metal oxide nanoparticles (Al2O3) and carbon-based nanomaterials (MWCNTs and SWCNTs) which were dispersed in the water (as based fluid) are studied.The governing equations are converted into the ordinary differential equations using similarity solution and solved numerically by the RKF45 algorithm.The results of the simulations showed a contradiction with the results of other researchers who expressed that using nanoparticles with higher thermal conductivity and volume fraction led to increasing heat transfer rate in nanofluids;this study proves that,in some cases,boosting the volume fraction of nanoparticles has a potential to decrease the heat transfer rate due to significant changes in values of some parameters including radiation,heat generation,and viscous dissipation. 展开更多

In the experimental range, the boiling heat transfer coefficients of R134a on a T-MPPS tube were 1.8-2.0 times larger than those of R134a on a plain tube. In addition, the developed experimental correlations verified that the predictions of the heat transfer coefficients of boiling R134a and R142bon a T-MPPS tube at the experimental conditions were considerably accurate. 展开更多

Carbon catalysis is an attractive metal-free catalytic transformation,and its performance is significantly dependent on the number of accessible active sites.However,owing to the inherent stability of the C-C linkage,only limited active sites at the edge defects of the basal plane can be obtained even after a harsh oxidation treatment.In this study,the concept of interfacial interactions was adopted to propose an efficient strategy to develop highly active carbon catalysts.The alumina/carbon interface formed in situ acted as a cradle for the generation of oxygen-containing functional groups.In the absence of oxidation treatment,the concentration of oxygen-containing functional groups and the specific surface area can reach 1.27 mmol·g^(-1) and 2340 m^(2)·g^(-1),respectively,which are significantly higher than those of carbon prepared by traditional hard template methods.This active carbon shows a significant enhancement in catalytic performance in the oxidative coupling of amine to imine,about 22-fold higher than that of a well-known graphite oxide catalyst.Such interfacial interaction strategies are based on sustainable carbon sources and can effectively tune the porous structure of carbon in the micro-and meso-ranges.This conceptual finding offers new opportunities for the development of high-performance carbon-based metal-free catalysts. 展开更多

A novel antibacterial biomimetic porous titanium implant with good osseointegration was prepared by freeze-casting and thermal oxidation.Bone integration properties of the porous titanium implant were evaluated by cell proliferation assay,alkaline phosphatase activity assay,X-ray examination and hard bone tissue biopsy.The in vitro cell proliferation and the level of differentiation of the group with a modified nano-porous implant surface were significantly higher than those in the group without surface modification and the dense titanium control group(P<0.05).In vivo,bone growth and osteogenesis were found in the experimental groups with modified and unmodified porous titanium implants;osteoblasts in the modified group had more mature differentiation in the pores compared to the unmodified group.Such implants can form solid,biologically compatible bone grafts with bone tissues,exhibiting good osseointegration. 展开更多

The scattering of oblique incident surface waves by the edge of a small cylindrical deformation on a porous bed in an ocean of finite depth, is investigated here within the framework of linearized water wave theory. Using perturbation analysis, the corresponding problem governed by modified Helmholtz equation is reduced to a boundary value problem for the first-order correction of the potential function. The first-order potential and, hence, the reflection and transmission coefficients are obtained by a method based on Green's integral theorem with the introduction of appropriate Green's function. Consideration of a patch of sinusoidal ripples shows that when the quotient of twice the component of the incident field wave number along x-direction and the ripple wave number approaches one, the theory predicts a resonant interaction between the bed and the free-surface, and the reflection coefficient becomes a multiple of the number of ripples. Again, for small angles of incidence, the reflected energy is more as compared to the other angles of incidence. It is also observed that the reflected energy is somewhat sensitive to the changes in the porosity of the ocean bed. From the derived results, the solutions for problems with impermeable ocean bed can be obtained as particular cases. 展开更多

Enhanced pool boiling heat transfer of the porous structure is critical to the thermal management technology.In this paper,pool boiling heat transfer experiments are performed on copper foam welded surfaces in de-ionized water to investigate the effects of basic parameters of copper foam on heat transfer enhancement.Boiling phenomenon is observed to facilitate the understanding of enhancement mechanism.The results show that copper foam welded surfaces can significantly enhance the pool boiling heat transfer performance,reduce the boiling incipience temperature by 7-9℃,and reach two times heat transfer coefficient compared with smooth plain surfaces due to numerous nucleation sites,extended surface areas,and enhanced turbulent effect.Pore density and thickness of foam have two side effects on heat transfer. 展开更多

Artificial bone with porous structure is crucial for tissue scaffold and clinic implants.Scaffold provides structure support for cells and guides tissues regeneration for final tissue structure.A computational aided process of porous bone modeling was developed which described the design and fabrication of tissue scaffolds by considering intricate architecture,porosity and pore size.To simulate intricate bone structure,different constructive units were presented.In modeling process,bone contour was gotten from computed tomography(CT)images and was divided into two levels.Each level was represented by relatively reconstructive process.Pore size distribution was controlled by using mesh generation.The whole hexahedral mesh was reduced by unit structure,when a 3D mesh with various hexahedral elements was provided.The simulation results show that constructive structure of porous scaffold can meet the needs of clinic implants in accurate and controlled way. 展开更多

This work aimed to prepare the nanospike surface-modified bionic porous titanium implants that feature favorableosteointegration performance and anti-bacterial functions.The implant was prepared using freeze casting,and nanospikesurface-modification of the implant was performed using thermal oxidation.The pore morphology and size,mechanical properties,and osteogenic performance of the implants were analyzed and discussed.The results showed that when the volume ratio of titaniumpowder in slurry was set to be10%,the porosity,pore diameter,compressive strength,and elastic modulus of the porous sampleswere(58.32±1.08)%,(126.17±18.64)μm,(58.51±20.38)MPa and(1.70±0.52)GPa,respectively.When the porous sample wassintered at a temperature of1200°C for1h,these values were(58.24±1.50)%,(124.16±13.64)μm,(54.77±27.55)MPa and(1.63±0.30)GPa,respectively.The nanospike surface-modified bionic porous titanium implants had favorable pore morphology andsize,mechanical properties and osteointegration performance through technology optimization,and showed significant clinicalapplication prospect. 展开更多

An analytical potential for cylindrical pores has been derived by introducing a variational method into the integration for the calculation of the interaction energy between the wall molecules and a test molecule, all of which are represented by Lennard-Jones potential. The model proposed gives good fit to the results from the cylindrical surface model and the pseudoatom model. To test the potential proposed rigorously, we have carried out grand canonical ensemble Monte Carlo(GCMC) simulation of nitrogen in the MCM-41 pore at 77 K, and compared the simulated adsorption isotherm with the experimental data reported in the literature. The simulated isotherm from our model is in almost qualitative agreement with experiment. Consequently, the model proposed provides an explicit and accurate description of cylindrical pores represented by the Lennard-Jones potential. Moreover, the model can be easily applied to a variety of cylindrical pores, ranging from cylindrical surface to finite thickness walls, in both theoretical studies and computer simulations. 展开更多

The orientation strategy of side pipe and the heat transfer performance of six ground heat exchangers(GHEs) were optimized by numerical simulation,with soil being treated as a porous medium.An experiment on the heat transfer of four GHEs was carried out in 2010.Results indicate that the velocity field is disturbed by GHEs.The optimal orientation strategy of side pipe is that the upward pipe is located upstream and the downward pipe downstream.The space between GHEs should be appropriately adjusted,depending on the direction and flow velocity.Groups of GHEs should be installed perpendicular to the mainstream in a single row,but if the acreage does not meet the requirements,GHEs should be installed in staggered multiple rows.Fewer GHEs parallel to the mainstream strengthen the heat transfer.Moreover,numerical results agree well with the test data,with the maximum relative error being less than 7.7%. 展开更多
