METHODS: Sixty male Wistar rats were randomized to six groups. The control group (n = 10) had an end- to-end ileal anastomosis without RIPC. The preconditioned groups (n = 34) varied in time of ischemia and time of reperfusion. One group received the amino acid L-arginine before constructing the anastomosis (n = 9). On postoperative day 4, the rats were re-laparotomized, and bursting pressure, hydroxyproline concentration, intra-abdominal adhesions, and a histological score concerning the mucosat ischemic injury were collected. The data are given as median (range).RESULTS: On postoperative day 4, median bursting pressure was 124 mmHg (60-146 mmHg) in the control group. The experimental groups did not show a statistically significant difference (P 〉 0.05). Regarding the hydroxyproline concentration, we did not find any significant variation in the experimental groups. We detected significantly less mucosal injury in the RIPC groups. Furthermore, we assessed more extensive intra-abdominal adhesions in the preconditioned groups than in the control group. CONCLUSION: RIPC directly before performing small bowel anastomosis does not affect anastomotic stability in the early period, as seen in ischemic preconditioning.展开更多

Pasting properties and freeze-thaw stability of different flours incorporated with 0, 0.5%, 1%, 2%, 3% and 5% of MG were investigated. Pasting temperature (60 ℃-87 ℃) of the pastes significantly decreased with increasing of MG content for wheat and rice flours, but had no significant effect for waxy rice flour. Incorporation of MG into all flours significantly elevated the peak viscosity by about 0.9-2.6 folds when compared to non-MG samples. Hot paste viscosity, breakdown and final viscosity for all flour mixtures significantly increased with increasing of MG which ranged from 81-427, 37-559 and 152-463 RVU, respectively. Freeze-thaw stability measurement demonstrated that higher level of MG in wheat and rice gel mixtures could decrease syneresis. However, MG had no effect on syneresis of waxy rice gel. Presence of MG in flours alters the pasting properties and syneresis effect. It is suggested that higher viscosity and lower syneresis of gels could be modified by MG.展开更多

The model has been validated by comparison with existing theoretical and experimental cases. Its main goal is to have a better understanding on particles size distribution behaviour during operation of the fluidized bed, and in particular to be applied on the case of Fast Internally Circulating Fluidized Beds for char gasification. Results have shown that the initial properties of the fluidized bed particles (bed and size distribution) are almost not involved in the steady state obtained in continous operation, which is excusively dependent on the properties of the fed particles flow rate and size distribution, the withdrawal flow rate and the reaction properties. Morevoer, it has been proven that the steady state fluidized bed mass and size distribution may be theroretically controlled by an adequate choice of feeding and withdrawal flow rates.展开更多
