The results showed that the integ...The standing stock and primary production of benthic microalgae on tidal flats were measured seasonally at 3 transects (Puqing, Dahengchuang and Puqi) in Yueqing Bay during 2002 2003. The results showed that the integral chlorophyll a (Chl a) concentration in tidal flat mud exhibited a seasonal variation with the order of magnitude: winter (14.0 4.2 mg m-2) > spring (13.0 6.3 mg m-2) > autumn (7.7 5.9 mg m-2) > summer (4.6 3.2 mg m-2). The primary production showed an order of magnitude: spring (270.5 224.9 mgC m-2 d-1)>winter (238.7 225.5 mgC m-2 d-1)>autumn (214.1 56.2 mgC m-2 d-1)>summer (71.6 44.6 mgC m-2 d-1). Both chlorophyll a and primary production showed maximum values in the surface layer of sediment, and decreased rapidly with increasing depth due to sun light limitation. The results of variance analysis indicated that seasonal variation and tidal flat condition affected Chl a greatly, but had no significant effect on primary production. The annual primary production of benthic microalgae on tidal flats in Yueqing Bay was estimated at 16143 tons carbon, which is sufficient to support 1.02×105 tons shellfish production. The environmental factors affecting chlorophyll and primary production on the tidal flats in Yueqing Bay were discussed. By comparing with other bays on China's coast, it was observed that Yueqing Bay is a region with high benthic microalgae standing crop and primary production, which may be related to the type of its sediment.展开更多
Contribution of first flush runoff events from intense rainfall to downstream aquatic ecosystems are often reported in terms of sediment and nutrient delivery, with hardly any consideration to the contribution that st...Contribution of first flush runoff events from intense rainfall to downstream aquatic ecosystems are often reported in terms of sediment and nutrient delivery, with hardly any consideration to the contribution that standing, concentrated tailwater in primary aquatic systems makes to downstream nutrient loads. Two geographically distinct studies (Jonesboro Arkansas, and Stoneville Mississippi; 4 studies, n = 30) evaluated the effectiveness of drainage ditch systems to mitigate nutrient concentrations and loads. Within each independent study all experimental ditches had elevated background nutrient concentrations as a result of standing water, prior to the start of each simulated runoff experiment. These concentrations remained elevated 15-30 minutes post the start of each simulation as the concentrated, impounded water was pushed out through each system. In both these systems, it was hypothesized that water had accumulated in the respective drainage ditches and had been concentrated though evaporation and aquatic macrophyte transpiration. It is theorized that additional controlled drainage with improved dilution and hydraulic residence management.展开更多

But at the same time, we should also clearly see the deficiencies of the amendment (eight). This paper attempts to sort out the rationality of the lenient application of the punishment on the older people from the aspect of the criminal policy oftemperingjustice with mercy and other aspects, and to construct and perfect the specific legislative proposals that the amendment (eight) puts forward.展开更多
This paper deals with the standing wave for a Hamiltonian nonlinear wave equation which can be viewed as a representative of the class of equations of interest.On the one hand,by proving a compactness lemma and solvin...This paper deals with the standing wave for a Hamiltonian nonlinear wave equation which can be viewed as a representative of the class of equations of interest.On the one hand,by proving a compactness lemma and solving a variational problem,the existence of the standing wave with ground state for the aforementioned equation is proved.On the other hand,the authors derive the instability of the standing wave by applying the potential well argument,the concavity method and an invariant region under the solution flow of the Cauchy problem for the equation under study,and the invariance of the region aforementioned can be shown by introducing an auxiliary functional and a supplementary constrained variational problem.展开更多
