国家标准指导下的大学生英语学习动机、积极参与和学习成绩关系研究 被引量:1

2018年1月,教育部出台《普通高等学校本科专业类教学质量国家标准》(简称新国标)。该标准突出三大基本原则:学生中心、产出导向、持续改进。因此,如何激发学生的学习积极性,即探讨学生的学习动机,在本科英语教学改革中就显得极其重要。... 2018年1月,教育部出台《普通高等学校本科专业类教学质量国家标准》(简称新国标)。该标准突出三大基本原则:学生中心、产出导向、持续改进。因此,如何激发学生的学习积极性,即探讨学生的学习动机,在本科英语教学改革中就显得极其重要。在此背景下,本研究以238名非英专业大一学生为研究对象,通过问卷调查,利用独立样本T检验、相关性分析和普通回归方法,探讨了基于动机角度的教学策略对学生学习动机、积极参与和学习成绩的影响以及三者的关系。研究结果表明:1)与传统课堂相比,运用动机策略的课堂,学生的学习动机、积极参与和学习成绩均有显著提高;2)在运用动机策略的课堂和传统型课堂,动机维度的课程感受均能显著预测学生的积极参与;3)动机维度的课程感受不能直接预测学生的学习成绩。由此我们得到启发:运用动机策略的大学英语课堂,能够激发学生的学习积极性并带来其积极参与和成绩提高。因此,国家标准指导下的运用动机策略的新型课堂,的确能够带来学生学习积极性的提高和积极参与度,并且带来其英语综合能力的提高。 展开更多

With the rapid development and furthering of higher education, most Chinese colleges have carried out large-scale enrollment program, which is a necessary improvement toward higher education reform. Meanwhile, the increasing number of students has posed new problems and requirements for the old teaching method: the English teachers are facing more students and larger classes. In Zhejiang University, City College (ZUCC) the credit system and course selection has challenged the English teachers on a higher level. Every English teacher is facing classes of more than 40 students from various departments with sharp contrast among individual students in their English proficiency level and local background. How can every student actively participate in teaching activity so as to achieve better performance in English class? Many teachers, therefore, have adopted team activity and cooperative teaching method to stimulate student participation in class. Inspired by the management theory to optimize student groups into independent teams, the concept of team construction and team management has been introduced into College English Teaching in ZUCC, which has given new meaning to team activity--it will become an interdisciplinary teaching method with its own feature. 展开更多

It plays crucial roles in giving instructions, organizing classroom norm, and facilitating students' language acquisition. Based on Leech's Politeness Principle, this paper has analyzed the politeness in teachers' classroom talk and explored the functions it possesses as well. The study shows that the politeness feature of college English teachers' classroom talk is the consequences of observing each maxim of the Politeness Principle and is of the functions such as making effective cornmnication, keeping friendly relations with students, saving students' face, etc.. Conducting research on politeness in teachers' talk is conducive to understanding the process of language teaching and learning. 展开更多

The English Department of Harbin Engineering University has initiated a mini-class model in recent years, which has received positive responses from both teachers and students who have experienced the class. By comparing the lecture-style class with mini-class, this paper will introduce the strengths and weaknesses of mini-class according to the author's observation of the class as well as the feedbacks from teachers and students. This action research explores the use of the flipped classroom approach in an English speaking class with 25 students at intermediate level in a vocational college in China's Mainland. It aims at motivating English learners and helping them develop communicative language skills more effectively and efficiently. Both qualitative and quantitative methods are adopted to analyze the data collected through interviews, teaching logs, as well as anonymous questionnaires and a summative assessment. Results show that the flipped classroom approach does stimulate students to invest more time and effort prior to instruction and during class learners do participate in communicative language exercises more enthusiastically. As a result, conceivable progress has been made in learners' performance. Possible recommendations of incorporating periodic rotation within the class, adding certain teacher-led instruction, and informal evaluation with group members, are raised at the end of the paper to help further improve the teaching/learning outcome of the flipped classroom approach. 展开更多
