Sixty Large White × Landrace primiparous sows were divided into four groups (fifteen sows per group). The control group was fed with basal diet, the others were fed with basal diet supplemented with 0.02%, 0.04% and 0.06% PFA, respectively. Compared with the control, the sows in 0.04% PFA group had higher feed intake during lactation and higher litter weaning weight (P 〈 0.05). At farrowing, glucose level in 0.04% PFA sows was higher than the control and sows in 0.02% PFA had the highest IgG content among the treatments (P 〈 0.05). On day 7 of lactation, serum urea nitrogen contents were lower in response to PFA supplementation compared to the control (P 〈 0.05). At the same time, sows fed the 0.06% PFA diet increased the lysozyme activity (P 〈 0.05). The levels of milk lactose and IgG were increased in 0.02% and 0.04% PFA groups (P 〈 0.05). In conclusion, feeding PFA improved sows and litter performance, serum metabolite concentrations, lgG level and lysozyme activity at postpartum and milk quality.展开更多

Was obtained a diagnostic by an interview and in situ evaluation of management conditions and milk samples for laboratory analysis integrating the platform and microbiological counts, before and after of GMSP. The changes achieved were no significant (P 〉 0.05) for pH and density, but alcohol and foreign material were positive modified (P 〈 0.05) by GMSP in both hand and machine milking. The quantities of sediments were decreased (P 〈 0.05) in more than 50.0%. Decrease (P 〈 0.05) was observed in the counts of CFU mL1 (colony forming unitsl) in aerobic mesophilic, coliforms, Salmonella ssp. and Staphylococcus aureus with the GMSP. After GMSP Salmonella ssp. incidence was affected (P 〈 0.05) by hand (55.5%) vs. machine (61.5%) milking type; coliforms count and positive incidence in milk were affected (P 〈 0.05) in hand (81.5%) vs. machine (53.9%). Therefore it was confirmed that the implementation of adequate sanitary and management practices, in both hand and machine milking, decreased the presence and incidence of microorganisms in milk with potential to produce disease in animals and humans.展开更多

The aim of this study was to investigate the quality of fermented goat milk and cow milk, as well as the viability of LAB in the same products. Fermentations were performed with pasteurized goat milk or cow milk added with skim milk (18% of solids) using three separately different starters; yoghurt starter (a combination of Streptococcus thermophilus FNCC-0040 and Lactobacillus bulgaricus FNCC-0041), single starter of Lactobacillus acidophilus FNCC-0029 and Lactobacillus casei FNCC-0051. The parameters observed were pH, acidity, nutritional quality including protein, fat and lactose content and product's viscosity. Acidity, pH and viability of LAB were also monitored during storage at refrigerated temperature (4 ℃) for 28 days. Results show that the different LAB starters did not affect the pH, acidity, lactose and protein content. Differences on LAB starters affected fat content and viscosity. The highest score of viscosity (30.00 Pa.s ± 7.02 Pa.s) was observed on products fermented by yoghurt starters, followed by products obtained using starter of L. acidophilus (17.7 ±11.4) and L. casei (8.62 ±0.35). Protein content, acidity, pH and viscosity were not significantly different between products obtained from goat milk and cow milk. Fat content in fermented goat milk was higher (5.03% ±0.62%) than in fermented cow milk (3.52% ±0.37%), however, lactose content was higher in fermented cow milk (5.16% ±0.40%) than in fermented goat milk (4.53% ±0.35%). Total LAB concentration in fermented cow milk during storage was 8.03± 0.52 logt0 cfu/mL, while in fermented goat milk was 7.81 loglo cfu/mL ± 0.67 loglo cfu/mL. There was a 10.83% decrease in LAB viability in fermented cow milk and 11.40% in fermented goat milk after 28 days of storage. In conclusion, quality of fermented milk is affected by the starters applied, raw milk source and storage period.展开更多

As a total of 115 individual milk samples from 53 Anatolian buffalo cows that calved in 2004 and 2005 on days of their lactations 30 ± 15, 60 ± 15, 90 ±15, 120 ± 15, 150 ± 15, 180± 15, 210 ±15, 240 ± 15 and 270 ± 15 in 8 units of lhkpmar village were collected in morning milkings in June, September, December and March. Samples were analysed for total dry matter (TDM), fat, protein, ash, density, pH, acidity, renneting time and urea content. Data were classified according to the following environmental factors: lactation stages: (30 ± 15, 60 i 15, 90 ±15 days): 2 (120±15, 150 ± 15, 180 ± 15 days): 3 (210 ± 15, 240 ± 15, 270± 15 days); calving year: 1 (2004), 2 (2005); calving season: 1 (January-May), 2 (September and October); month of samples collection: 1 (June), 2 (September), 3 (December), 4 (March); lactation order: 1 and 2:1, 3 and 4:2, 5 and 6:3. Means and correlation coefficients for the characteristics investigated were calculated. There were negative significant correlations between daily milk yield with TDM, fat and protein percentages, and between pH and all of the milk constituents. Density reduces as TDM, fat and protein contents increase. Relationships between density and coagulation time with milk yield and pH were not significant. Relationships between milk urea concentration with none of milk constituents, milk yield, density, pH and titratable acidity were not significant statistically. It was concluded that genetic selection has to be directed towards increasing fat, protein and total not fat dry matter yields. Under selection programs in which milk yield is taken into consideration, fat and protein yields also increase, but fat and protein concentrations decrease.展开更多

This gene, located on chromosome 2, was chosen due to its role on development of mammary gland. A polymorphism of selected 314 bp allele fragment was detected by the restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis of polymerase chain reaction-amplified fragments (PCR-RFLP) method and also confirmed by DNA sequencing. The association tests were conducted between STAT1 genotypes and some economically important dairy traits. The genotypes for C/T as a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) were identified at interval 60 cM to 63 cM. The effects of STAT1 gene on milk production traits were not significant in Holstein cows, although animals with CT genotypes showed fairly close to significant value for the corrected 305 d milk yield. However, Jersey cows with/7" genotype were 2.07 kg higher for test-day milk yield (P 〈 0.05), 0.13 kg for fat yield (P 〈 0.01) and 0.07 kg for protein yield (P 〈 0.05) compared with animals having CC and CT genotypes. Definitely, the further research should be conducted to search this gene intensively with larger samples to identify polymorphism and any association between the economically important traits and genotypic class in Holstein cows. Finally, based on the findings, it was concluded that STATI gene might be used as a potential candidate gene to improve milk yield and milk fat and protein contents in dairy cows breeding programs.展开更多
The purpose of this study was to determine the occurrence and antimicrobial resistance of Streptococcus spp. isolated from fresh ewe's milk and consequently to draw conclusions concerning the health condition of the ...The purpose of this study was to determine the occurrence and antimicrobial resistance of Streptococcus spp. isolated from fresh ewe's milk and consequently to draw conclusions concerning the health condition of the animal flocks and the current trends of antibiotic use in small ruminants. A total of 77 mountainous sheepfolds were investigated representing 10% of all transhumant sheep and goats flocks in the area. Duplicate milk samples were collected from January to February transferred to the laboratory and analyzed for the presence of Streptococcus spp. by using the serial dilution method and plating on the surface of Slanetz and Bartley agar. The isolates were tested against nine antimicrobial agents with the Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method. The results showed that Streptococcus spp. occurred in 84.4% of the samples and in counts ranged between 1.8 log CFU/mL and 4.6 log CFU/mL. Concerning susceptibility, only 1.3% of the isolates were resistant to all antimicrobials while 27.3% were fully susceptible. Resistance to cefepime was the most common (93.1%) observation followed by resistance to ampicillin (82.1%), ciprofloxacine (58.3%) and meropenem (51.9%). The isolates were vancomycin susceptible at a rate of 83.6%. Multidrug resistance to at least three antibiotics was observed to be 22.1% of Streptococcus spp.. Given the prevalence of Streptococcus spp. and the elevated resistance of isolates to various antibiotics it is concluded that further examinations and even interventions are required in order to pertain the appropriate animal health and milk quality.展开更多

With the 2 152 451 test-day records about 155 893 Chinese Holstein dairy cows collected by the Henan Dairy Herd Improvement Center from January 2008 to April 2016, the dynamics of test times during a complete lactation, test interval during a complete lactation, days in milk (DIM) of first test-day record, daughter descendant number and herd number of bull, age at first calving and pedigree integrity rate among different years and different herd sizes were analyzed by MEANS order of SAS 9.4. In addition, the data that were applicable to genetic evaluation were screened by SQL program. The results showed that during 2008-2015, the number of cow individuals participating in DHI in Henan Province increased from 7 379 to 93 706; the test-day milk yield increased from 19.91 to 24.05 kg; the somatic cell count reduced from 411.09×10^3 to 277.08×10^3 cells/ml; the percentage of cows with DIM ranging from 5-305 d reached 70.92%; the average test times increased from 3.20 to 6.31 times; the test interval decreased from 70.22 to 33.83 d; the dairy cows with age at first calving of 25 months were dominant, accounting for 12.57%; the bulls whose daughter descendant number was 20 or more and the daughters were distributed in 10 or more farms accounted for 6.05%; the one-generation pedigree integrity rate was 82.54%; the percentage of data that could be used for genetic evaluation was screened as 20.67%, which was lower than the results of other similar studies.展开更多

Juss. var. siamenses Valeton) and Zanthoxylum pods (Zanthoxylum piperatum) are known to contain numerous such compounds.The objectives of this study were to determine effects of feeding Siamese neem leaf and Zanthoxylum pods as feed additives on dry matter intake (DMI), dry matter digestibility (DMD) and milk production and milk composition. Lactating Thai Holstein cows (n = 8) were arranged in two replicates of 4 x 4 Latin square designs, housed in individual stall, treatments consisted of Siamese neem 0.5 and 1.5 g kgl dry matter (DM), ZanthoxylumO. 1 and 0.5 g kg1 DM added to the total mixed ration (TMR). TMRand drinking water were provided ad lib. There were no significant differences (P 〉 0.05) in DMI and crude protein (CP), acid detergent fiber (ADF), neutral detergent fiber (NDF) digestibility, milk production and composition among the treatments.However, significant difference (P 〈 0.05) was observed in dry matter (DM) and ether extract (EE) digestibility. Though statistically non-significant, Zanthoxylum at higher dose level tended to show low DMI (14.85 kg) in cows, while promotingmarginally higher milk (14.18 kg) production as compared with lower dose levelwhere DMI and milk production were 16.14 kg and 13.83 kg.This indicated that Zanthoxylum has a potential to improve feed digestion in dairy cows when used as additives.展开更多

Flavored milk increases milk consumption in children and providing adequate calcium intake as well as associated nutrients. About 40% of the sugar in flavored milk is naturally occurring lactose beverages. The goal of this study was to test the truthfulness of the labeling concerning protein, fat and sugar content of the flavored milk. Moreover, the compliance with the Gulf standard was tested. Ten different brands of flavored milk were used in this study. As per labeled on the package, this study found that: one company did not mention clearly that their products are nonfat milk. We also found that there were variations in the percentage of fat between the ten types of flavored milk. For calcium content, all companies indicated clearly the calcium content except company eight. Concerning laboratory analysis, one company considered as mislabeled since they stated on the package that the percentage of fat 1.1-1.2 and the lab analysis showed it contained 3.1%. All companies were truthful about protein content. Moreover, for calcium, all companies have low calcium content than what has stated on the package except one company.展开更多

文摘The dairy herd improvement data from Henan Province were analyzed statistically to establish screening criteria for relevant data, thereby laying a foundation for genetic evaluation of dairy cows. With the 2 152 451 test-day records about 155 893 Chinese Holstein dairy cows collected by the Henan Dairy Herd Improvement Center from January 2008 to April 2016, the dynamics of test times during a complete lactation, test interval during a complete lactation, days in milk (DIM) of first test-day record, daughter descendant number and herd number of bull, age at first calving and pedigree integrity rate among different years and different herd sizes were analyzed by MEANS order of SAS 9.4. In addition, the data that were applicable to genetic evaluation were screened by SQL program. The results showed that during 2008-2015, the number of cow individuals participating in DHI in Henan Province increased from 7 379 to 93 706; the test-day milk yield increased from 19.91 to 24.05 kg; the somatic cell count reduced from 411.09×10^3 to 277.08×10^3 cells/ml; the percentage of cows with DIM ranging from 5-305 d reached 70.92%; the average test times increased from 3.20 to 6.31 times; the test interval decreased from 70.22 to 33.83 d; the dairy cows with age at first calving of 25 months were dominant, accounting for 12.57%; the bulls whose daughter descendant number was 20 or more and the daughters were distributed in 10 or more farms accounted for 6.05%; the one-generation pedigree integrity rate was 82.54%; the percentage of data that could be used for genetic evaluation was screened as 20.67%, which was lower than the results of other similar studies.
文摘The plant secondary metabolites (PSM) are highly sought compounds for use as an alternative to conventionally used feed additives in animal production these days; Siamese neem leaf (Azadirachta indica A. Juss. var. siamenses Valeton) and Zanthoxylum pods (Zanthoxylum piperatum) are known to contain numerous such compounds.The objectives of this study were to determine effects of feeding Siamese neem leaf and Zanthoxylum pods as feed additives on dry matter intake (DMI), dry matter digestibility (DMD) and milk production and milk composition. Lactating Thai Holstein cows (n = 8) were arranged in two replicates of 4 x 4 Latin square designs, housed in individual stall, treatments consisted of Siamese neem 0.5 and 1.5 g kgl dry matter (DM), ZanthoxylumO. 1 and 0.5 g kg1 DM added to the total mixed ration (TMR). TMRand drinking water were provided ad lib. There were no significant differences (P 〉 0.05) in DMI and crude protein (CP), acid detergent fiber (ADF), neutral detergent fiber (NDF) digestibility, milk production and composition among the treatments.However, significant difference (P 〈 0.05) was observed in dry matter (DM) and ether extract (EE) digestibility. Though statistically non-significant, Zanthoxylum at higher dose level tended to show low DMI (14.85 kg) in cows, while promotingmarginally higher milk (14.18 kg) production as compared with lower dose levelwhere DMI and milk production were 16.14 kg and 13.83 kg.This indicated that Zanthoxylum has a potential to improve feed digestion in dairy cows when used as additives.
文摘Consumers are becoming increasingly health conscious, and food product choices have expanded. Flavored milk increases milk consumption in children and providing adequate calcium intake as well as associated nutrients. About 40% of the sugar in flavored milk is naturally occurring lactose beverages. The goal of this study was to test the truthfulness of the labeling concerning protein, fat and sugar content of the flavored milk. Moreover, the compliance with the Gulf standard was tested. Ten different brands of flavored milk were used in this study. As per labeled on the package, this study found that: one company did not mention clearly that their products are nonfat milk. We also found that there were variations in the percentage of fat between the ten types of flavored milk. For calcium content, all companies indicated clearly the calcium content except company eight. Concerning laboratory analysis, one company considered as mislabeled since they stated on the package that the percentage of fat 1.1-1.2 and the lab analysis showed it contained 3.1%. All companies were truthful about protein content. Moreover, for calcium, all companies have low calcium content than what has stated on the package except one company.
