After more than three centuries important amounts of residuals, known as tailings, with high contents of heavy metals were generated. These residuals are a potential risk for the environment and human health. Given to that, it decided to carry out the analysis of the concentrations of cadmium, lead, chromium, zinc and arsenics, in topsoil samples susceptible of airborne transport and accumulation in risky zones (populated areas). A 120 kin: area was selected, this include Parral City and its surroundings. From this area 30 samples were obtained. For this purpose, Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy technique was used, expecting high concentrations of heavy metals, above the permit limits, since several studies carried out in the same region, as in San Francisco del Oro Chihuahua, show that the concentrations of all the elements sampled, in topsoil, were above the limits. The analysis in the space distribution of the heavy metal detected will allow us to set the points with the highest susceptibility to the accumulation of those pollutants and to propose mitigation measures and control.展开更多

That way, the purpose of this work is to think the use of post-horror label as a marketing strategy in the context of Brazilian contemporary literature and cinema. For that, I map the profile of three Brazilian writers: Santiago Nazarian, Antonio Xerxenesky, and Raphael Montes. They are published now by Companhia das Letras, the largest publisher in Brazil, which has an extensive work with the horror literature, having the exclusivity of Stephen King’s books. In addition, all three circulate differently in the media space, standing between an acceptance of academic criticism and the prestige of large-scale consumer audiences. I analyzed what are the writer strategies to construct their image and establish themselves in the literary market using the Post-horror label and its relation with the production company, RT Features, which is financing them. In the end, I did a critical analyzes of the post-horror label as a transmedia strategy to construct an author’s name.展开更多

This project was aimed to obtain more information about the habitus and social representations of college students reading habits, using as theoretical elements the principles developed by Pierre Bourdieu and Serge Moscovici. The project was developed in a public university, located in Mexico's northeast region; 19 students were part of the sample group. Two research tools were used to obtain data: survey and focus group. The project analyzed academic and environmental aspects, beyond the "ought to be", that affected the development and provided characteristics on the daily sociocultural reality of the students, with a view of the real environment of the students without "make-up". The project deepened into the analysis of the reading practices and not only the usual numeric indicators, which traditionally condemn the reading practices in Mexico. The results of this study showed that students read a lot more than what they and their teachers think they do, this taking into consideration electronic documents, general interest publications, and commercial magazines, among others. The point of view of some teachers and researchers, when it comes to reading habits recognize non-academic, simple and interesting reading more important impact on their reading habits shows a tendency to be pedantic and canonic; it does not for young people, which in the long term, could have a展开更多

In this work, refractory materials were elaborated from alumina-silica geomaterials related to granitoids and their direct surrounding rocks (kaolin clay and andalusite fiche schist). Characterization evolution on heating was investigated in a composition (80% kaolinitic clay, 20% andalusite rich schist). The evolution of mullite was examined by SEM (scanning electron microscopy) and XRD (X-ray diffraction). The thermal shock test showed that the refractory sample has a good thermal shock resistance.展开更多

In countries where donkeys are used for work, they are slaughtered at the end of their useful working life and meat is destined for human consumption. This study was carried out to evaluate the mineral composition of donkey carcass meat. Meat was obtained in Donkey Fair 2016 at Mexico State, minerals were analyzed by Atomic Absorption Spectxophotometry, Ca, Na, K, Fe, Zn and Cu, and P content by colorimetry. Data obtained in mg/100g were: Ca, 7.95; Na, 48.75; K, 353; Fe, 3,95; Zn, 3.17; Cu, 0.19 and P, 227. Analysis revealed that donkey meat has a low content of Ca, but it is good in P as well as K. In conclusion donkey meat is a good source of minerals requested for human health.展开更多

In the same way, the creation of strategies need a deep situational analysis, it is equally important to the efficiency and effectiveness of such strategies so they become operational. The central question addressed in the present study was identifying the variables that provide its own validity and, secondly, to determine which variables have a higher impact on the response variable (sales). The survey contains 159 items in 58 grouped questions. The collected data from a sample of 109 enterprises from different sectors and sizes were codified in order to carry out general descriptive procedures. The reliability of the instrument showed a Cronbach's alpha value of 0.8. The main statistical method used was the regression analysis. In order to carry it out, six compound variables were entered for the factors of information technologies, innovation, trading efforts, human resources, quality and technology. The results reveal that the more prepared the manager is and the more effectiveness obtained from the training program then the better indicators of growth will be obtained as a result (i.e. sales). The more integration among quality indicators (development of specifications and cost reduction programs) is, the better levels of growth (i.e. sales and growth perception) will be. The information technologies must be analyzed by the enterprises because once they are classified by their size, it is possible to observe a positive and significant correlation in any of the two ways of measuring the company's growth. The results can be useful for the people in charge of key decisions in any kind of enterprise as it displays a theoretical background for identify their main competitive variables.展开更多

As determined in multiple studies, particulate matter equal to or less than 2.5 μrn also called breathable fraction is the one that penetrates the inferior respiratory system. The present study shows the results of a sampling campaign of particulate matter PM25 through 12 months at 3 sites: C33 (Clinic 33), CIM (CIMAV) and A VA (Avalos) at Chihuahua, Mexico. The aim of this study was to determine the temporary concentrations of PM25, the concentration of metallic elements: Al, As, Co, Cu, Sb, Se, Fe, Mg, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn, as well as their possible sources. The three sites had the same trend in the time, where in autumn and winter the higher concentrations were found. The yearly averages on sites C33, CIM, and AVA were 9.91, 12.74 and 21.67 μg·m^-3, respectively, finding that AVA site overpasses the standard of 15 μg·m^-3. The application of factor analysis to the data allowed to identify four source categories: crustal, related with Al-Co-Fe-Mg-Mn, vehicular, related with: As-Cu-Sb-Se; mixed, related with: As-Cu-Sb-Se-Pb-Zn and industrial related with Ni-Pb.展开更多

One faces at least three basic problems of genuine biological autonomy: (1) if biological autonomy is not physical, where does it come from? (2) Is there a room for biological causes? And (3) how to obtain a workable model of biological teleology? It is shown here that the solution of all these three problems is related to the quantum vacuum. We present a short review of how this basic aspect of the fundamentals of quantum theory, although it had not been addressed for nearly 100 years, actually it was suggested by Bohr, Heisenberg, and others. Realizing that the quantum mechanical measurement problem associated with the "collapse" of the wave function is related, in the Copenhagen Interpretation of quantum mechanics, to a process between self-consciousness and the external physical environment, we are extending the issue for an explanation of the different processes occurring between living organisms and their internal environment. Definitions of genuine biological autonomy, biological aim, and biological spontaneity are presented. We propose to improve the popular two-stage model of decisions with a biological model suitable to obtain a deeper look at the nature of the mind-body problem. In the newly emerging picture biological autonomy emerges as a new, fundamental and inevitable element of the scientific worldview.展开更多

In these standard accounts (Godel's own paper and the exposition in Boolos' Computability and Logic are treated as exemplars), it is assumed that certain formulas (notably so called "Godel sentences") containing the Godel number of an open sentence and an arithmetic proof predicate are closed sentences. Ordinary usage of the term "provable" (and indeed "unprovable") favors their restriction to closed sentences which unlike so-called open sentences can be true or false. In this paper the restricted form of provability is called strong provability or unprovability. If this concept of proof is adopted, then there is no obvious alternative path to establishing those theorems.展开更多

The aim was to incorporate Guazuma leaves (Guazuma ulmifolia) in the diet of growing calves and evaluate its effect on weight gain. Twenty-four Cebu × Swiss calves (approximately live weight 250 kg) were used during all the experimental period (64 d). They were assigned to a completely randomized design under two treatments (n = 12 for each treatment): control (T1) consisted of commercial feed based on 15% crude protein (CP) + cut Taiwan grass and the treatment (T2) consisted of a formulated diet containing 14.7% CP including Guazuma. The composition of the formulated diet consisted of: Guazuma (60%), rolled corn (12%), ground sorghum (9%), oats in grain (7%), wheat bran (9%) and vitamins and minerals. The feed was offered twice a day at a rate of 3% of live weight for 64 d. The mean daily gain for T1 and T2 was 1.15 g/animal and 1.52 g/animal, respectively (p 〈 0.05). Results indicate that Guazuma-based supplements resulted in greater productive yield in growing calves.展开更多

This study develops specific emission factors in Mexico for: sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particles, for thermoelectric power plants that use fuel oil. This work was necessary due to the differences found between the measured and the calculated emissions, using emission factors of different agencies, such as, US-EPA (Environmental Protection Agency of the United States), IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), and UK-NAEI (National Atmospheric Emissions Inventory of the United Kingdom). The new emission factors were used to calculate the emissions of a thermoelectric power plant in Mexico.
