This paper proposes a cochlear prosthetic system with an implanted digital signal processor (DSP). This system transmits voice-band signals with a low data rate through the wireless link, free of the data-rate limitation and suitable for future development. By optimizing the speech processing algorithm and the DSP hardware design, the implanted DSP manages to execute the continuous interleaved sampling (CIS) algorithm at a clock frequency of 3MHz and a power consumption of only 1.91mW. With an analytic power-transmission efficiency of the wireless inductive link (40%), the power overhead caused by the implanted DSP is derived as 2.87roW,which is trivial when compared with the power consumption of existing cochlear prosthetic systems (tens of milliwatts). With the DSP implanted,this new system can.be easily developed into a fully implanted cochlear prosthesis. 展开更多

The design and development of the traction controller for electric vehicle is introduced, which is based on the induction motor. This drive is developed by using a digital signal processor at low cost and carried out with the module design concept of both software and hardware. Nevertheless, a scheme of the sensorless direct torque control is based on the developed hardware, of which the feasibility is tested by a trial program. Additionally, both the interface function of the drive hardware and the feasibility of its software are proved to be good by the trail programs. A test motor can run about 18?r/min by a variable frequency program with the space vector pulse width modulation technology, of which the torque is visible pulsatile. In this presentation, based on the theoretical approach, the sensorless torque control is to be studied and applied to electric vehicles, of which the quick, smooth and stable torque response is emphasized because it quite benefits improving the drive performance of electric vehicles. 展开更多

A novel control system is developed to improve the capabilities of robet hand performing tasks in a variety of environments. A joint impedance control strategy has been successfully implemented in the low level control of a highly integrated robot hand. At flint, a real time controller with DSP&FPGA-based multilevel control architecture is built. Then a current sensor of the single direct current (DC) link is used to measure and reconstruct the three phase currents, and a stable current signal is measured by optimizing sample instant. The experimental results of the joint impedance control show that the proposed method not only improves the effectiveness of contact environment performance, but also provides compliant interaction of robot hand with a person, which is very important for the development of friendly human robot of the next generation. 展开更多

A significant current oscillation was observed when the drive was operated at high-speed in the flux-weakening mode with the fixed-point DSP. The investigation showed that this was due to the on-line compensation of the winding resistance voltage drop and quantisation errors associated with the fixed-point architecture of the DSP. This paper presents the design and implementation of a low power digital signal processor (THUCIDSP-1 ) targeting at application for cochlear implants. Multi-level low power strategies including algorithm optimization, operand isolation, clock gating and memory partitioning are adopted in the processor design to reduce the power consumption. Experimental results show that the complexity of the Continuous Interleaved Sampling (CIS) algorithm is reduced by more than 80 % and the power dissipation of the hardware alone is reduced by about 25% with the low power methods. The THUCIDSP-1 prototype, fabricated in 0.18-μm standard CMOS process, consumes only 1.91 mW when executing the CIS algorithm at 3 MHz. 展开更多

This paper proposes a circuit structure which can be used for both synchronous and asynchronous pipeline control. It is a self-circulation structure with embedded delay network, and a pipeline can be controlled by this structure with the interconnection of adjacent stages. This paper first proposes a basic circuit structure, then a linear pipeline is designed with self-circulation structure. The performance of linear pipeline is analyzed, and a 16-bit digital signal processor (DSP) with the structure is designed to prove the validity of the structure. Results show that about 10%-15% power consumption is saved with self-circulation structure compared with synchronous counterpart, while almost the same performance is achieved. 展开更多

Daily, we experience the effects of audio noise, which contaminates the original information bearing signal with noise from its surrounding environment. This paper focuses on real-time hardware implementation of multi-tap adaptive noise cancellation (ANC) system by using the least mean square (LMS) algorithm on TMS320C6713 to remove undesired noise from a received signal for various audio related applications. Three different experiments are carried out by considering different audio inputs to test the efficiency of the designed ANC system. The 'C' code implementation of LMS algorithm is introduced and simulated in code composer studio (CCS), then realized on the digital signal processor (DSP) C6713. The 300 Hz, 500 Hz, 800 Hz, 1 kHz and 3 kHz of tone signals and male speech signal are used as the reference inputs to trace the noise of signal until it is eliminated. The performance of ANC system is studied in terms of convergence speed, order of the filter and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). The experimentam results demonstrate that the designed system shows a consider- able improvement in SNR. 展开更多
