With the increase in petroleum consumption in China, the inventory theory should be applied in the stock control of service stations. In this paper the inventory theory including its background and characteristics is introduced. At the same time, the application of the theory in some trades today, especially in petroleum trade, is analyzed. Then (s, S) stochastic model is advanced, which is established according to the principle of operational research and, based on this model, a sample is given, which discusses the details of application in the stock control of service stations. The sample is simplified but implies the validity of the model in optimizing the storage of petroleum products in the market.展开更多

Merr. & Perry (Myrtaceae) was extracted using petroleum ether in Soxhlet apparatus. The resultant oil contained eugenol (48.92%), caryophyllene (18.55%), α-caryophyllene (3.25%), eugenol acetate (23%), cis-13-docosenamide (3.2 1%), presenting more than 96% of the oil. This oil was examined as a fumigant and repellent agent against adults of the red flour beetle, Tribolium castaneum. Data showed that various concentrations of the oil have revealed dramatic repellent activity against the tested insect, where it gave 100% repellency by 1.0, 0.8, and 0.2% clove oil at 4, 8, 10 min, respectively. The RTs0 and RT95 were 1.1 and 8.0 min at 0.2% and 0.4, 2.6 min at 0.8%, respectively. In addition, fumigation assay has also exhibited strong fumigant activity toward the adults of T. castaneum. At 100 μL oil/L air, mortality was 75, 80 and 100% after 6, 7, and 8 days exposure period with LCs0 and LC95 17 and 70 μL/L air, respectively. The utilization of clove oil for its potential effects against stored product insect is discussed.展开更多

In sub Sahara Africa, stored grain insect pests are mainly Coleoptera or Lepidoptera. In the Logone Valley, area covering the Far North Region of Cameroon and South-West of Chad, to our knowledge, the diversity of insect pests noxious to stored products is not established. These beetles and weevils (Insecta:Coleoptera) during their development depreciate food in storage, were able to destroy a whole stock in a very short period of time if no protection of stored food is made. To achieve the diversity of insect pests, inspections of granaries were done in 209 villages of Logone Valley where insect pests were collected and identified. Secondly, the stored grains were sampled in peasant's granaries of Logone Valley and reared in incubators in the Unit of Entomological Research of the University of Ngaound6r6. After their emergence, insects were removed, collected and identified. Their noxious efficiency on stored grains is done by the calculation of the density of each insect pests per gram of grains. This study indicates that 12 species of harmful insects attack cereals and leguminous grains in the Logone Valley during storage. The Bruchids were the main insect pests of legumes. Callosobruchus maculatus was the main pest of legume and attacking mainly cowpeas (34.92 bruchids/g of seed) and peanuts (20.75 bruchids/g of seed). Seven harmful species destroy the cereals. Sitophilus zeamais is the main pest of maize (15.86 weevils/g of maize) and S. oryzae, for sorghum (36.59 weevils/g of maize). Tribolium castaneum were the main secondary pest. T. castaneum infests both cereals and leguminous. This work summarizes the importance and the diversification of stored grain pests in Logone Valley. Knowing the pest diversity is an important step in the strategy to develop a friendly and ecological control method of these harmful insects.展开更多

It was conducted at CMFCRC, Chiangmai, Thailand between Dec. 2006 and Mar. 2007. Soybean was boiled for 5 hours and then fermented at different time to create natural bacterial species, mainly Bacillus spp. Thua-Nao could be stored up to 90 days after in storage. Nutritional value, food value, and microorganisms content were investigated during fermentation and storage. Also, aflatoxin content of Thua-Nao was recorded during storage. The results showed that 3 days of soybean fermentation gave the best performance of Thua-Nao in term of nutritional value (protein = 47.12%), food value, and content of Bacillus spp. (2.78 × 10^9 CFU/g). Without being harmed from aflatoxin, Thua-Nao could be stored not more than 23 days in normal room (Tmax. = 33.9 ℃, Tmin. = 15.8 ℃) and not more than 36 days in climate-controlled room (Tmax. = 20 ℃, Tmin. = 15 ℃).展开更多

A study was conducted to investigate the effects of fungicide treatments and storage temperatures on fruit quality of two mango cultivars, Keirt and Palmer. Mango fruits were treated with 0.04% or 0.08% v/v Triadimefon at either 53 ℃ (hot) or at room temperature and then either stored under ambient conditions (27-29 ℃) or in a refrigerator at a temperature of 11-12 ℃. Fruits stored under ambient conditions developed external colour faster than those stored at a lower temperature. Brix values for fruits treated with Triadimefon decreased with time. Fruits stored at lower temperatures gave least Brix values as compared with those stored under ambient conditions. Percentage titratable acid (%TA) of fruits stored at low temperatures increased over time. Fruits stored at lower temperatures recorded lower pH compared with fruits stored under ambient conditions. Palmer fruits recorded higher %Brix to %TA ratio, indicating a higher sweetness level. The firmness of Palmer fruits kept at lower temperatures increased with time when compared with Keitt fruit. Fruits treated with hot water at 53 ℃ and/or stored at low temperatures (11-12 ℃) had lower levels of anthracnose infection than other treatments. Keitt fruits were more susceptible to anthracnose infection than Palmer fruits. Mango fruits should therefore be treated with hot water at 53 ℃ and then stored at low temperatures (11-12 ℃) in order to slow down the rate of ripening and to reduce anthracnose infection.展开更多

In this study we compared the influence of hot-water dipping (HWD) for 2 rain at 50℃and hot air treatment (HAT) at 37 ℃ for 30 hours, on postharvest performance of kumquat (Fortunellajaponica Lour. Swingle, cv. Ovale) fruit. Decay development, transpiration rate (fruit weight loss), external appearance, and nutritive (sugars and organic acids) and functional properties (ascorbic acid, total phenolic compounds, and total antioxidant activity) were evaluated over 21 days' simulated shelf-life at 17 ℃. Untreated fruits were used as control. There was no visible damage to the fruit following HWD or HAT and after storage. However, while HWD and control fruit maintained their fresh appearance during the first 14 days of storage and were rated as fairly fresh after the 21 days, HAT fruits had lost their gloss and no longer appeared fresh. HWD did not affect fruit weight loss while HAT induced significant weight loss with respect to control. HAT did not significantly affect decay incidence after 14 days' storage but effectively reduced decay after 21 days'. HWD notably reduced decay development after 14 and 21 days of storage and proved significantly more effective than HAT. Neither HWD nor HAT significantly affected the nutritive and functional properties of fruit. Thus, present results indicate that while HWD can be applied on kumquats to control postharvest decay without impairing the quality traits, HAT conditions (treatment time and temperature) should be optimized, due to adverse effects to fruit quality.展开更多
