Many of these devices suffer from serious constraints in three main areas: processor speed, memory space and screen size. This paper presents a GIS application, called "MacaoMap", that is intended for heavily resource-co nstrained handheld devices. MacaoMap is a tourism-oriented map application of t he Macao territory for PalmOS and Pocket PC personal digital assistants. It was designed to perform satisfactorily on devices with as little as 16 MHz processor speed, and requires only 500 KB available memory for the GIS application and al l GIS data. Memory requirements are kept low through a specially designed data f ormat. The main challenge of satisfactory map drawing speed is addressed through a variety of techniques that were developed for this application. The paper des cribes the application’s data format, outlines the map drawing techniques, and points out the areas for future development.展开更多

Such a data model, however, is difficult to be implemented on top of conventional databases because of its unfixed attribute sizes. XML is a matured technology and can be an elegant solution for such challenge. Representing data in XML trigger a question about storage efficiency. The goal of this work is to provide a straightforward answer to such a question. To this end, we compare three different storage models for the parametric temporal data model and show that XML is not worse than any other approaches. Furthermore, XML outperforms the other storages under certain conditions. Therefore, our simulation results provide a positive indication that the myth about XML is not true in the parametric temporal data model.展开更多

The workflow has to be continuous, implying that the no-w...In many practical flowshop production environments, there is no intermediate storage space available to keep partially completed jobs between any two machines. The workflow has to be continuous, implying that the no-wait conditions must be abided, which is typical in steel and plastic production. We discuss the three-machine no-wait flowshop scheduling problem where the setup times are considered as separated from processing times and sequence independent. The scheduling goal is to minimize the total flowtime. An optimal property and two heuristic algorithms for this problem are proposed. Evaluated over a large number of problems, the proposed heuristics are found that they can yield good solutions effectively with low computational complexity, and have more obvious advantage for the large size problem compared with the existing one.展开更多

In this paper, we present a ring signature scheme designed for WSNs. In this scheme, all of the wireless sensor nodes are divided into several sub-groups and the sub-group nodes are used to generate the signature instead of the WSN cluster nodes. This scheme can effectively avoid the single node failure problem, and it also has a high availability. All nodes are flee to sign their own message, and the nodes that generate signatures can simultaneously calculate their own part of the signature, meeting the distributed parallel computing requirements. Compared with the traditional ring signature, this scheme reduces the energy consumption, and therefore is very suitable for WSNs.展开更多

In this review a study is made to enhance the productivity of the solar stills by connecting solar still with latent heat storage and solar air heater in series and other factors like improving evaporation rate by maintaining Low depth, more exposure area, heat addition by solar collector and presence of latent heat storage material, which is a paraffin wax as a integral part of still. Latent heat storage is one of the most efficient ways of storing thermal energy. Unlike the sensible heat storage method, the latent heat storage method provides much higher storage density, with a smaller temperature difference between storing and releasing heat. However, one of the challenges in LEO satellites networks is that the services are suffered from high symbol error, limited storage space and limited available energy. To analyze the performance of the service in LEO satellites networks, a model, based on differential game, is proposed for satisfying the QoS requirements of multimedia applications. The controller of our model is the transmitting rate and the object is to maximize the payoff depending on the error symbol rate, the available energy, the bandwidth and the process ability so as to guarantee the QoS service. In order to solve our built model, we use the Bellman theorem to make formulas on the trance of the optimal transmitting rate. Furthermore, simulation results verify that the service can be maximized by using our derived transmitting rate trance.展开更多

Utilizing the controllable quantum entanglement, we can demonstrate the dynamic process of the quantum storage of information carried by charge qubit. In order to fundamentally solve the acidification problem of high sulfur-containing bauxite during storage, by simulating the environment of minerals storage in laboratory, the acidification mechanism and influencing ...In order to fundamentally solve the acidification problem of high sulfur-containing bauxite during storage, by simulating the environment of minerals storage in laboratory, the acidification mechanism and influencing factors of high sulfur-containing bauxite were studied and confirmed using the single variable method to control the atmosphere, water and other variables. The results show that the acidification is mostly caused by the oxidation of sulfur-containing bauxite, which is mainly the natural oxidation of Pyrite(Fe S2), then the alkaline minerals dissolute in the presence of water, leading to the acidification phenomenon, which is influenced by moisture and air flow. Finally, more acid-producing substances are formed, resulting in the acidification of high sulfur-containing bauxite. The acidification of high sulfur-containing bauxite results from the combined effect of the oxygen in the air and water, which can be significantly alleviated by controlling the diffusion of the oxygen in air.展开更多

Many people use many means and methods in order to increase the proportion of fat oxidation providing for energy in the movement and save glucose consumption in vivo, improving the body' s endurance. The modified cubic B-splines are used as set of basis functions in the differential quadrature to compute the weighting coefficients for the spatial derivatives, which reduces Fokker-Planck equation into system of first-order ordinary differential equations (ODEs), in time. The well known SSP-RK43 scheme is then applied to solve the resulting system of ODEs. The efficiency of proposed method has been confirmed by three examples having their exact solutions. This shows that MCB-DQM results are capable of achieving high accuracy. Advantage of the scheme is that it can be applied very smoothly to solve the linear or nonlinear physical problems, and a very less storage space is required which causes less accumulation of numerical errors.展开更多
