"历史是最好的教科书","中国革命历史是最好的营养剂"。党的领导干部必须将学习党史、国史作为坚持和发展中国特色社会主义、把党和国家各项事业继续推向前进的必修课。为此,在挖掘学习历史对我们党的现实价值的基础上,明确学习历史的三个维度:历史的职责、把握学历史的重点、树立科学的历史观;同时要系统、完整、准确地学习党的历史,涵养历史眼光,潜心研读马列经典。

Investigating Affordance in Technology-Enriched Language Learning Environment Through Exploring Students’Perezhivanija

Preceding works tend to explicate affordance through supposing what is happening here and now.They seldom relate it to actual social,diachronic activities,such as foreign language learning.To tackle this issue,this study explores how students actualize affordances in technology-enriched language learning environment(TELLE)by examining their perezhivanija(lived and emotional experience),a term borrowed from sociocultural theory.Because an individual’s social life is a developing process or a perezhivanie2,it is necessary to base the research in a dynamic development of language learning to figure out how the affordances are actualized.Narrative interviews were adopted to collect data from three Chinese college students who learn English as a foreign language in a Northeastern university in China.The results showed that due to the students’different past perezhivanija in English learning,their present interpretations of the perceived affordances in TELLE varied.This influenced hugely in their actions taken during their English learning in college to actualize the affordances.The findings indicated that the actualization of affordances is historical,dynamic and developmental instead of static.It does not lie in the autonomy of the students or the teachers,but in the institutional and cultural legitimacy of technology use in student’s social life.The paper contributes to the application of affordance theory in foreign language learning and provides implications to language teaching practice in TELLE.

Historical Tracing of the Development of the Concepts of ＂Competence＂ and ＂Performance＂

Competence and performance is an important pair of concepts in linguistics. Ever since their originality, they have aroused sufficient attention of the linguists. Many linguists have contributed a lot in their attempt to illustrate the concepts and clarification of them. A proper understanding of them can help the readers to gain more insight into the linguistics. What the linguist, Chomsky, originally meant by using competence and performance is somewhat different from what the current linguists mean by using them. The distance and distinction between competence and performance meant by Chomsky is also different from that meant by current linguists. That＇s to say there is some development of competence and performance since they were put forward. The shift is a gradual one, yet a very significant one. It reflects the linguists＇ effort to try to describe and categorize language learners＇ ability and their attempt to make use of them and measure them. This process actually narrows the distance and gap not only between theory and practice, but also between competence and performance. And at the same time, it reflects the linguists＇ frustration and confusion caused by the abstraction and complexity of them. By consulting the literature, the paper tries to follow their development step by step. The paper also points out some assumptions used by linguists when applying competence and performance. At the end of paper, it points out some implications to language teaching, which is important to language teachers and learners.

Effects of Study-Abroad Experiences on Chinese Students’ L2 Learning Activities and Study-Abroad Motivations

This study explores how overseas exchange opportunities might influence Chinese students ’engagement in L2 learning activities and how far such opportunities may satisfy their motivation to study abroad. The analysis of the data, collected and filtered from carefully designed questionnaires and interviews, showed that students ’ L2 learning activities and study-abroad motivations underwent changes after their overseas experiences. Regarding the former, the overseas environment was the cause of the change because it provided students with more chances to talk with native speakers and increased the frequency of their using L2 in their daily life. Regarding the latter, the decline of the students ’ major study-abroad motivations was partly because they tended to treat L2 learning as a tool for realizing other goals and partly because the students had got other important motivations. In view of these findings, suggestions were raised to help future students get better prepared for their overseas study or short-term exchange life.

Building a Bridge Between Authentic Learning and Service Learning： A Case Study From an English Technical Writing Class

In order to help technical/business writing students transfer their authentic learning experience to service learning practice, this study explores the relationship between authentic learning and service learning through a course research project at a small public university in southwestem Oklahoma, USA. The participants, a small group of technical writing students, engaged in writing a proposal targeting a real-life local problem as well as finding a solution. The study shows that authentic learning, such as writing the proposal for a real-world problem, can generate a potential solution while the service learning portion of the assignment （such as working with the community） can provide a specific real-life location for resolving the problem. The study also shows that the authentic learning experience can inspire the students to move further to serve the community and when students volunteer to help the local community implement the solution, a bridge between the authentic learning and service learning can be built, which can then lead to students＇ enhancement of all round real-life skills and of a sense of serving the community. Finally, the implications of the study for English language teaching in an authentic leaming context also will be discussed.

Agency Fluctuations and Identity Transformations in Chinese English-Majors on Their Learning Trajectories

This paper explores agency fluctuations and identity transformations in Chinese English-majors and how they are related to the process of English learning. By tracing a group of students for four years in a Chinese university and conducting qualitative analyses to their oral narrations of learning experiences at different periods, the study has found that most participants started and ended their university life at relatively high levels of agency, with inevitable ups and downs in between. Agency fluctuations in the learners are the result of their identity positioning and repositioning within a complex and ever-changing context. Concordant or conflicting identities may co-exist within an individual learner and keep changing across different situations. Learner identities will cause increase or reduction in their investment in English learning, while their learning experience will in turn reinforce or undermine their identities. The study sheds light on the intricate relationships between agency, identity and language learning and therefore has important implications for English learning and teaching in China.

Opportunities and Challenges for Global Student Mobility： A Study on Undergraduates＇ Experiences

This paper examines the study abroad experiences of undergraduates, explores the students＇ values and perspectives on being global citizens, and expresses the way they think of themselves as members of the broader world community. The research was conducted by interviewing students who had experiences studying abroad. It aims to open a debate about the meanings and understandings of global student mobility which is based on the opinions and values of college students who had either long or short-term study abroad experiences. The study shows that students have grasped the transformation of globalization and are concerned with their competitiveness in the global stage. They pointed out that their higher education courses are lacking in providing enough opportunities for students to encounter the broader world. Also, students often cope with culture shock issues such as the way they interact with classmates, the attitude of contributing toward society, and the barrier to communicate using local languages. Proposed changes can start with professors, for example, by bringing the reality of other cultures into the students＇ learning process, by showing the common values and competencies of modern college students, and by contributing to critical thinking.

QoS Evaluation for Web Service Recommendation

Web service recommendation is one of the most important fi elds of research in the area of service computing. The two core problems of Web service recommendation are the prediction of unknown Qo S property values and the evaluation of overall Qo S according to user preferences. Aiming to address these two problems and their current challenges, we propose two efficient approaches to solve these problems. First, unknown Qo S property values were predicted by modeling the high-dimensional Qo S data as tensors, by utilizing an important tensor operation, i.e., tensor composition, to predict these Qo S values. Our method, which considers all Qo S dimensions integrally and uniformly, allows us to predict multi-dimensional Qo S values accurately and easily. Second, the overall Qo S was evaluated by proposing an efficient user preference learning method, which learns user preferences based on users' ratings history data, allowing us to obtain user preferences quantifiably and accurately. By solving these two core problems, it became possible to compute a realistic value for the overall Qo S. The experimental results showed our proposed methods to be more efficient than existing methods.

Researches on the teaching based on the applied linguistics

Along with the development of the times and the innovation of the society, the history and cultures are also constantly inherited under the strike of the flow of the tide over the years, forming the centuries-old cultures. Of course, the heritage of any culture needs a carrier, and the history and culture is no exception. Language itself is a kind of tool for the information exchange, and the communication process of the language is also accompanied by the substitution of the culture. So it can be said it is not only the category of the information exchange, but should be expanded to the cultural heritage. With the continuous changes and development of the society, people focused more on the application in the learning of the language, so as to highlight the characteristics of different cultures through the applications in different aspects.

Bio-inspired computational heuristics to study models of HIV infection of CD4＋ T-cell

In this work, biologically-inspired computing framework is developed for HIV infection of CD4＋ T-cell model using feed-forward artificial neural networks （ANNs）, genetic algorithms （GAs）, sequential quadratic programming （SQP） and hybrid approach based on GA-SQP. The mathematical model for HIV infection of CD4＋ T-cells is represented with the help of initial value problems （IVPs） based on the system of ordinary differential equations （ODEs）. The ANN model for the system is constructed by exploiting its strength of universal approximation. An objective function is developed for the system through unsupervised error using ANNs in the mean square sense. Training with weights of ANNs is carried out with GAs for effective global search supported with SQP for efficient local search. The proposed scheme is evaluated on a number of scenarios for the HIV infection model by taking the different levels for infected cells, natural substitution rates of uninfected cells, and virus particles. Comparisons of the approximate solutions are made with results of Adams numerical solver to establish the correctness of the proposed scheme. Accuracy and convergence of the approach are validated through the results of statistical analysis based on the sufficient large number of independent runs.

Keeping Abreast of“International Historical Sciences”:Dialogue and Exchange

The 22nd International Congress of Historical Sciences,to which Chinese President Xi Jinping wrote a congratulatory letter,took place in 2015.This congratulatory letter has since been a subject of discussion among Chinese and foreign historians because it involves several fundamental issues in historical sciences.This paper presents Finnish historian Marjatta Hietala’s interview with Wang Yuji.The interview centers on four major propositions of President Xi:“Historical research forms the basis of all social sciences”;“History is our best teacher”;“Observing China’s past is an important angle for observing China today”;and“Historians can and should play an active role in building a community of shared future for mankind.”The in-depth discussion reveals the convergence and divergence of historians’opinions both at home and abroad on some fundamental issues of historical sciences.
