The structural parameters of an ES die were optimized by conducting an orthogonal simul... A novel extrusion-shearing(ES) composite process was designed to fabricate fine-grained, high strength and tough magnesium alloy. The structural parameters of an ES die were optimized by conducting an orthogonal simulation experiment using finite element software Deform-3D, and Mg-3 Zn-0.6 Ca-0.6 Zr(ZXK310) alloy was processed using the ES die. The results show that the optimized structural parameters of ES die are extrusion angle(α) of 90°, extrusion section height(h) of 15 mm and inner fillet radius(r) of 10 mm. After ES at an extrusion temperature and a die temperature of 350 °C, ZXK310 alloy exhibited good ES forming ability, and obvious dynamic recrystallization occurred in the forming area. The grain size decreased from 1.42 μm of extrusion area to 0.85 μm of the forming area. Owing to the pinning of second phase and formation of ultrafine grains, the tensile strength, yield strength and elongation of alloy reached 362 MPa, 289 MPa and 21.7%, respectively. 展开更多

In this paper, the authors present the development of a data modelling tool that visualizes the transformation process of an "Entity-Relationship" Diagram (ERD) into a relational database schema. The authors' focus is the design of a tool for educational purposes and its implementation on e-learning database course. The tool presents two stages of database design. The first stage is to draw ERD graphically and validate it. The drawing is done by a learner. Then at second stage, the system enables automatically transformation of ERD to relational database schema by using common rules. Thus, the learner could understand more easily how to apply the theoretical material. A detailed description of system functionalities and algorithm for the conversion are proposed. This article presents the outcome of the Swedish pilot study CESEM (named after the initials of the girls' first names) where pre-teen girls produced their own news program and showed it to their classmates. The methodological approach was the action research model where the process of producing news was followed from selecting news to reflecting on their learning outcomes. The knowledge from the pilot study is useful in designing active projects within the scope of media literacy. One of the learning outcomes for the girls in this study was the awareness of how news programs in TV are staged. A positive response was the initiative from one of the participating schools to start their own news project in one of the classes. A possible outcome in longer run projects is better knowledge for developing pedagogical tools in media education. 展开更多

As the smart grid concepts are emphasized lately, the need to modernize the power engineering education is also well recognized. This paper presents a set of newly developed modeling, simulation and testing tools aimed at better understanding of the design concept and related applications for protective relaying and substation automation solutions for the smart grid. Since the smart grid applications require integration of data from multiple IEDs (intelligent electronic devices), understanding properties of each IED type in detail, as well as their responses to the power system events is needed. In addition, understanding the communication requirements to perform data integration is also important. To illustrate how the mentioned smart grid issues may be taught, the following advanced teaching approaches are presented: (1) Use of modeling and simulation means to better understand interaction between the relays and power system; (2) Use of IED test facilities to better understand performance of physical devices used for protection, monitoring and control; (3) Utilization of communication network modeling tools to simulate the communication network within SAS (substation automation system). Examples showing the use of proposed techniques for teaching the fundamentals and applications are presented. The examples demonstrate the adequacy and efficiency of the proposed techniques. 展开更多
