Analysis of the Biological Characteristics of a Parasitical Fungus in Chrysosplenium absconditicapsulum J. T. Pan Leaves

[Objective] This study aimed to uncover the biological characteristics of a parasitical fungus in Chrysosp/enium absconditicapsu/um J. T. Pan leaves. [Method] PDA medium was used to isolate the fungus from C. absconditicapsulum leaves; PDA medium, modified KB medium and Czapek medium were adopted to cultivate the isolated strain. [Result] Colonies of the strain were stretched, white, fedora- shaped with smooth and wavy edges, and showed diameter growth on PDA medi- um, modified KB medium and Czapek medium. At the late stage of culture, the colonies turned into cyanish brown on the above media. Spores were black and born on the surface of colonies on PDA medium with blackened medium. While on modified KB medium and Czapek medium, they were born at the edge of colonies with blackened medium. The spores varied in a wide range of shapes, mostly ob- clavate, sometimes spherical or ellipsoidal. The conidia were muriformly septate with transverse or longitudinal or oblique septations. The pseudo-beaks were short and cylindrical. [Conclusion] According to relevant literatures, the isolated strain is a fungus in Alternaria, Dematiaceae, Hylohomycetales, Hyphomycetes, Deuteromycotina.

在植物组织和细胞培养过程中 ,尤其是在生物反应器培养中的染菌问题 ,一直是制约植物细胞培养工业化的难题。通过比较各种防腐剂的抑菌效果 ,确定银型磷酸锆盐抗菌粉为青蒿根培养的最佳防腐剂。银型磷酸锆盐抗菌粉在浓度为 30mg/L时 ,既能降低培养液的染菌几率 ,又不明显抑制青蒿根的生长及青蒿素的生物合成。在添加 30mg/L抗菌粉的培养液中进行的青蒿根生长、pH值变化以及残糖、铵离子和硝酸根离子消耗的动力学研究表明 ,在 4 0d内青蒿根在培养液中生长良好 ,营养成分的消耗和对照呈相似的趋势。

Students＇ Perception Towards the Use of Internet as Learning Media to Promote Reading Comprehension Skill

This study analyses student＇s perception toward the use of lnternet to improve reading comprehension. This study aims： （1） to describe the students＇ perception of the use of Interact as teaching media in learning reading comprehension; （2） to depict the students＇ perception of the importance oflnternet to access information; and （3） to explain the students＇ frequency to access Internet. This study uses the descriptive method to reveal the research problems. A questionnaire is used to collect the data. It consists of 20 questions with five options to reveal the students＇ perception of the use of Internet. The questionnaire is distributed to 120 students who took reading subject at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The study shows that （1） The students＇ perception toward the use of Internet to improve Reading Comprehension subject is positive; （2） According to the students, the use of Internet to access reading materials is very important; and （3） The students frequently access Internet to find the reading materials.

Cultivating Students＇ Reflective Learning Ability in College English Teaching

This paper aims to explore whether reflective learning ability can be fostered and nurtured with special instruction and whether it can enhance students＇ motivation of learning English. The experiment lasted four months, taking two parallel classes of the sophomore students at English major in Ningbo Dahongying University as the subjects. The results show that students can raise their awareness of reflective thinking and acquire reflective learning ability with teachers＇ instruction, and the two reflective activities （writing reflective journals and peer-evaluation） are very effective to increase students＇ motivation of learning English and improve their academic performances in English study.

On ESP Teaching in Higher Vocational Colleges-from the Perspective of Students＇ Needs

ESP （English for Specific Purposes） is an English approach which relates to certain specific profession, subject or purpose. It is in accordance with the training goal of higher vocational English with its characteristics of profession and practicability. How Can Self-Access Centers in China Better Develop Students＇ Learner Autonomy

Accompanying the arrival of new technological and network ear, SACs （self-access centers） become the most widely adopted mode spreading in China with a large quantity of universities joining to follow the fashion. But whether the SACs in China can fully fulfill the purpose, to what extend can learners gain benefits to develop autonomy, and what are the possible ways for improvement are quite necessary to investigate since there starts to emerge various problems during the implementation of SACs. This paper aims to analyze the prevalent establishment of SACs in China in order to find out the reasons for prevalence, the current implementing mode, the degree of effectiveness on developing learner autonomy, especially potential problems and causes, and finally put forward some suggestions pedagogical implications for improving.

The Education of Students of Pedagogy With the Aim of Fostering Multiculturalism in a Community

The paper starts from the theoretical model of multiculturalism as a possibility for an individual to develop their own identity, to accept and respect the identity of other members of a community. The aim of this research is to determine how the students of pedagogy define the concept of multiculturalism and in how far they consider it to be current in contemporary social relationships. The survey was carried out using the descriptive method and the analysis of contents. It examined the attitudes of students who are preparing themselves for advisory work with children in elementary school and high school. The results of the research confirm that the pedagogy students define the concept of multiculturalism clearly. They recognize the need for upbringing that fosters multiculturalism in modern education, in order to gain extensive knowledge and use it in a particular situation.

Self-Regulated Reading Comprehension Strategy Selection Through Diagnostic-Prescriptive Instruction： A Case Study

This demonstration of concept applies diagnostic-prescriptive reading instruction, a methodology useo m omteu atd^u~ developmental education, toward improving reading comprehension and self-regulated comprehension strategy selection in Chinese postsecondary education. A single tutor, also the researcher, works closely with one Chinese university student to develop student-centered comprehension strategies that she can practice on her own. After a battery of formal and informal assessments and interviews, decoding and understanding deficiencies are identified, characterized, and discussed. Both the student and her tutor develop and execute a study plan, which was completed during the spring semester of 2010 at Sha＇anxi University of Science and Technology （SUST） in Xi＇an, People＇s Republic of China （PRC）. By focusing on the subject＇s primary decoding deficiency, spelling, and her primary understanding deficiency, lack of background knowledge, the subject and her reading tutor are able to strategically tackle five reading comprehension goals： （1） spelling; （2） phonemic awareness; （3） noticing structural and cohesive elements; （4） comparing argumentative and evaluative texts; and （5） analyzing expository texts in business and economics. A final discussion analyzes both qualitative and quantitative data, including unexpected discoveries such as the salience of cohesion in reading comprehension and the cultural biases of standardized reading assessments.

The Effect of Training Package Development for Secondary School Students in Thailand Toward ASEAN Community

The purposes of this research were： （1） to create a training package to prepare secondary school students in northeastern of Thailand toward ASEAN （Association of Southeast Asian Nations） Community; （2） to compare the knowledge of secondary school students toward ASEAN before and after use training package; and （3） the expectations of the students in the northeast of their own preparation for the ASEAN community. Experimental research was used in this research. The subject was including 2,000 students who were randomly divided into groups of seven provinces. The statistics used in data analysis were percentage, average, standard deviation, and T-test. The research results showed that： （1） a training package to prepare secondary school students in northeastern of Thailand toward ASEAN Community, the effectiveness index （E.I.） was .57, according to the established criteria; （2） a comparison of pretest and post-test results found the use of cognitive training may vary, statistically significant at the .05 level; （3） an expectation of the secondary school students in the preparation of role into ASEAN Community found that the students who participated in a concept reflect that the knowledge and attitudes to prepare themselves for the ASEAN community.

Initiation of primary cell culture from amphioxus Branchiostoma belcheri tsingtauense

Amphioxus, a cephalochordate, is an important model fish for studies in evolution and comparative biology. A successful cell culture from amphioxus tissues in vitro would help understanding some basic issues. To determine the optimal culture conditions for proliferation of amphioxus cells, primary cultures were initiated from buccal cirri, tail, gill, gut and metapleural fold of amphioxus Branchiostoma belcheri tsingtauense. The media tested were L-15, F-12, M 199, MEM, DMEM, PRMI 1640 and LDF, each was supplemented with 20% fetal bovine serum. The optimal conditions include tail tissue cultured in L-15 or F-12 with supplement of 20% FBS and 1.5% NaCl at about 25℃.
