Objective:Transformative learning is a learner-centered process of learning.Learners are actively engaged through critical reflection and discourse to question assumptions and expectations. The purpose of this article is to describe a model to facilitate transformative learning in nursing education. Methods:A qualitative, exploratory, descriptive and contextual design for theory generation was selected in this study to describe a model to facilitate transformative learning in nursing education.Concept analysis of transformative learning was done in the first stage of the main study using Walker and Avant's eight step approach to clarify the conceptual identification and meaning. The results of concept analysis guided data collection in the second stage.Eleven individual agenda semi-structured interviews were conducted with nurse educators to explore and describe their perceptions regarding how transformative learning can be facilitated in nursing education.Matrix building approach was used to analyse the collected data. The third stage constituted the conceptualisation of findings from the second stage using relevant literature within the elements of practice theory. The fourth stage focused on the description and evaluation of a model to facilitate transformative learning in nursing education.Findings:Four themes and nine sub-themes emerged and were conceptualised within the six elements of practice theory namely the context, agent, recipient, dynamic, process and procedure and outcome. Conclusion:The relation statements provided the basis for model description.Reliable method was used to describe and evaluate the model. The refinement of the model by experts in model development andqualitative research was made. 展开更多

The new syllabus sets the standards for college English comprehension, particularly emphasizing the students' need for listening and speaking. Additionally, the traditional "grammar-translation" approach has been criticized and become overlooked, while its counterpart, the "communicative approach", has become increasingly popular. The result is that "language communication" is being emphasized rather than "basic language core theories" incorporating grammar rules and this might not be totally advisable. The author analyses the present educational situation pertaining to college English education and recommends responsive strategies and an improved response towards the need for grammar education. 展开更多

In this paper, we conduct research on the applications of advanced mathematics on the mathematical modeling and the inner connections with linear algebra and the probability statistics. Aiming at model in mathematical modeling and solving and model of evaluation and promotion of the two links, put forward the "bystander" and "the authorities" this two characters, and points out that excellent mathematical modeling participants should have "from a bystander to the authorities" and "from the authorities to return to bystanders" two-way role transformation ability. Great situation in mathematics teaching, by means of the mathematical modeling formed in the development of the teachers, as well as the teaching thought, teaching experience and achievements, the onward march of mathematical experiment should be faster than mathematical modeling. Our research provides the new paradigm for the math development which will be meaningful. 展开更多

JiTT (Just-in-Time Teaching) and flipped classroom are two innovations in academia where high-tech and no-tech resources are blended to encourage more interaction and creativity among students. These two methods also help minimize the dependency on face-to-face lecture and make the class time more creative and effective. This study is the very first attempt of implementing these strategies in Bangladesh. It explores the prospect of JiTT and flipped classroom at tertiary level in Bangladesh. In the first part of this paper, recent studies on JiTT and flipped classroom are discussed to shed light on their effectiveness and problems. The latter part explains the data and research findings. Before collecting the data, JiTT and flipped classroom were used with 33 students of undergraduate level who were students of"ELT Methodology" course. After the implementation of the methods, a questionnaire survey was conducted to collect data regarding their response to these two methods. The study reveals that JiTT and flipped classroom help cover more topics in a short time while enhancing students' interaction and participation. They make students come to the class prepared and reflect on their learning. Teachers can understand students need better and provide required feedback. The overall interaction among students and teachers can be improved using JiTT and flipped classroom since everyone is clear about each other's existing knowledge and learning objectives. 展开更多

Pedagogy teaches teachers how to teach, so that they may effectively teach students how to learn; it offers important training for teachers to transform students from mere parrots of information into challengers of and innovators of knowledge. Yet, while Bangladesh has had a long history of university teaching, pedagogy has hardly entered the imagination of university educators. At the university level, pedagogical training would address cultural hindrances to students' advanced learning. Today's teachers are yesterday's students, with each generation being groomed in the same cultural patterns of learning that are continually repeated without examination. At the same time, the majority of faculties lack pedagogical methods for adjusting their teaching framework to accommodate the diversity of students' worldviews to nurture knowledge progression in classroom settings. Importantly, students acquire cultural practices of rote learning and memorization by way of lectures and homework that parrots texts and lectures. Many faculties are unaware that the purpose of a university is to stimulate new ideas and knowledge, provoke assumptions, and teach and encourage critical thinking. The pedagogical challenge also derives from Bengali culture, from which teachers assume a hierarchical mindset and attitude that is counter-productive to students' learning. 展开更多

Flipped classroom model led to the transformation of university teachers' teaching role. From the perspective of the sociology of knowledge, the teacher professional development is a process of transformation of the role of teachers, and role transformation and the way of actors involved in the knowledge are associated. Participating in knowledge in different ways, role types are also different. Thus, changing the way ofparticipating in knowledge is the basic way to participate in the transformation of the role. Classification of roles is not the classification ofhumans.A social may might play many roles of many types in his life andmay have the function of a variety of roles at the same time. Meanwhile, it can be transferred between characters, especially in the case of depending on the same knowledge system. As long as the ways of involvement are different, the functions and types of roles are also different. University teachers are those who play a variety of roles of knowledge and society, some being the teaching teachers of organization and dissemination of knowledge, some being scientific and teaching teachers who focus on organizing and disseminating knowledge as well as knowledge creation, and knowledge creation and heavy teacher teaching and research, while others are knowledge creation based research teachers. In the field of the sociology of knowledge, university teachers should be scientific teaching roles depending on a deep knowledge and participating in knowledge in a variety of ways. From the perspective of the sociology of knowledge, according to Eph · Znaniecki' s role classification, university teachers participate in knowledge in three ways: teaching, learning and researching. Teaching, learning and researching are relative but different ways of participating in knowledge. State they are relative because itshows teaching can promote learning, learning can promote researching, researching can also promote learning and teaching. The homochromous interaction of teaching, leaming and researching, knowledge is in constant state of development and generation. 展开更多

Flipped classroom teaching is a new teaching mode introduced from the United States. The reason why it is defined so is because of it overturn the traditional teaching procedure "classroom information impartation - knowledge internalization after class," and at the same time, it also transforms every elements of teaching. For chemistry, which is a very practical course, the introduction of the new teaching mode is an opportunity and also a challenge for us, we need to study carefully and keep trying. 展开更多
