Language learning strategies play an important role in language learning. Students in vocational technical colleges have been regarded as low English proficiency learners due to their weak foundation in learning Engli...Language learning strategies play an important role in language learning. Students in vocational technical colleges have been regarded as low English proficiency learners due to their weak foundation in learning English. To explore the solution, the present study employed a specific survey of language learning strategy use and tried to conduct a one-semester language learning strategy training, aiming to investigate the effects of integrating language learning strategy into EFL instruction for non-English major students in vocational technical colleges. We found after the instruction, the difference in the frequency of overall strategy use between the experimental group and the control group was significant indicating that the students could be trained with language learning strategies to enhance the frequency of their strategy use. After language learning strategy instruction, the experimental group didn＇t perform significantly better than the control group in terms of their English language proficiency. However, the results of this present study still supported this viewpoint that the strategy instruction had positive impacts to some extent if properly conducted, for it had positive effects on enhancing students＇ language learning strategy use.展开更多

The integration radically changes the essence of college English teaching, and therefore the traditional teaching mode has been challenged. In other words, information technology has become an integral part in today＇ s web-based college English teaching classroom. This paper attempts to read in detail about the Boyer＇ s teaching academic thought. Combined with the current situation of college English teaching, this paper discusses the feasibility of teaching academic thinking is applied to the English network teaching. A model is established by exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. Through the way of questionnaire to the research on the college English network teaching, so as to put forward the solutions and improve the quality of teaching.展开更多

The empirical research based on newly-established universities shows that college students＇ usage intention on network course and study behavior is not real. Study behavior of network course is passive and outside stimulation. They are more concerned about the usefulness and relative advantages of the learning mode in the network course learning; however, learning environment of the network course at present still is given on material and tool level. The institutions should, in compliance with the trend of higher education development in the world, actively build learning environment to meet the learning needs of students in the information age, deepen the reform of information technology application and curriculum based on the learner-centered concept, focus on the training of initiative learning of college students, put community impact into full play to promote the integration of the superiority of the material platform and initiative, and finally improve the efficiency and quality of teaching and education.展开更多
As technology becomes increasingly integrated into the teaching and learning processes at the university level, it is imperative that research be conducted in relation to the impact of technology acquisition on minori...As technology becomes increasingly integrated into the teaching and learning processes at the university level, it is imperative that research be conducted in relation to the impact of technology acquisition on minority learning populations. Research suggests that we need to improve the ways technology is applied, adopted and introduced and that higher levels of support should be provided to minority and nontraditional learning populations as they immerse themselves into higher education environments. Avenues for discussion of cost-effective technology integration and transition are explored; data identifies a need for more effective selection and alignment of learning needs with learning tools earlier on in the process of technology implementation across campuses. Research suggests this supports student presence, persistence, retention and success. Without it, however, we fail to support the very learners we seek to provide higher levels of access and opportunity. This failure will impact learners and institutions alike by placing disadvantage populations in precarious positions and universities having to choose between cultural, economic and human capital. The paper is organized as follows： Section 1： Introduction; Section 2： Need for Understanding Minority Enrollment Patterns; Section 3： Analysis of Report Data; Section 4： Strategy; Section 5： Conclusions.展开更多
