The results indicated that only silicate correlated well in time and space with, and had important effects on, the characteristics, dynamic cycles and trends of, primary production in Jiaozhou Bay. The authors developed a corresponding dynamic model of primary production and silicate and water temperature. Eq.(1) of the model shows that the primary production variation is controlled by the nutrient Si and affected by water temperature; that the main factor controlling the primary production is Si; that water temperature affects the composition of the structure of phytoplankton assemblage; that the different populations of the phytoplankton assemblage occupy different ecological niches for C , the apparent ratio of conversion of silicate in seawater into phytoplankton biomas and D , the coefficient of water temperature’s effect on phytoplankton biomass. The authors researched the silicon source of Jiaozhou Bay, the biogeochemical sediment process of the silicon, the phytoplankton predominant species and the phytoplankton structure. The authors considered silicate a limiting factor of primary production in Jiaozhou Bay, whose decreasing concentration of silicate from terrestrial source is supposedly due to dilution by current and uptake by phytoplankton; quantified the silicate assimilated by phytoplankton, the intrinsic ratio of conversion of silicon into phytoplankton biomass, the proportion of silicate uptaken by phytoplankton and diluted by current; and found that the primary production of the phytoplankton is determined by the quantity of the silicate assimilated by them. The phenomenon of apparently high plant nutrient concentrations but low phytoplankton biomass in some waters is reasonably explained in this paper.展开更多

It also discusses the evolution of the tectonic environment of this region during Phanerozoic Eon, according to the features such as the composition of sandstones derived from the old land and alkalinity of volcanic rocks and so on. Continuous uplifting was maintained in Cathaysia during Sinian Period and Paleozoic Era, typically with no significant tectono-magmatic activity being observed. Its northwestern margin belongs to the type of passive continental margin during the middle and late phase of Caledonian Cycle. It showed the characteristics of a steady continent in late Paleozoic era, but was turned quickly into an active continental margin after the middle Jurassic period.展开更多

There has been increasing interest in verifying and understanding the coupling between the respiration and the heart rate. In this paper we use the nonlinear detection method to detect the nonlinear deterministic component in the physiological time series by a single variable series and two variables series respectively, and use the conditional information entropy to analyze the correlation between the heart rate, the respiration and the blood oxygen concentration. The conclusions are that there is the nonlinear deterministic component in the heart rate data and respiration data, and the heart rate and the respiration are two variables originating from the same underlying dynamics.展开更多

Methods: rH plasma concentration was determined using bioassay based on ex vivo antithrombin activity of rH. Normal rabbits received iv rH 4.0, 2.0 and 1.0 mg/kg or sc rH 2.0 mg/kg, respectively. The rabbits with acute severe renal failure were given iv rH 2.0 mg/kg. Results: The bioassay described in this paper met requirements for study of PK in rabbits. The major PK parameters after iv dosing were as follows: t1/2p 58.4-59 min. Vd 0.09-0.12 L/kg, CL 0.0035-0.0040 L/(kg·min); AUC were proportional to the doses, ti/2 and CL did not change significantly with the doses. The sc bioavailability reached 94%. The rabbits suffering from acute severe renal failure presented 11-fold longer t1/2p and 13-fold greater.4 UC than normal healthy rabbits. Conclusion: rH exhibited rapid elimination, distribution was only limited to extracellular space and good absorption from sc site. The excretion ofrH by kidneys played a very important role in the elimination of rH. The PK ofrH could be described by the two- and one-compartment model after iv and sc dosing, respectively, and folio, wed linear kinetics.展开更多

Cheeses were made using Camifloc enzyme as a coagulant after addition of calcium chloride. Camel's milk was mixed with sheep's milk at the levels of 25%, 50% and 75%. Then, the cheeses were stored for 21 days in the whey at room temperature (37-40 ~C). The study revealed that fortifying camel's milk with sheep's milk improved the processing properties of camel milk for cheese making. The addition of 50% sheep's milk to camel's milk reduced the coagulation time to about 46.15%. The addition of 25%, 50% and 75% sheep's milk to camel's milk revealed yield of 13.76%, 21.33% and 26.2%, respectively. However, the cheese made from pure camel's milk and sheep's milk revealed yield of 10.66% and 23.53%, respectively. There were significant (P 〈 0.001) differences in total solids, protein, fat, ash, acidity and overall acceptability among the cheeses made from different types of milk. The cheeses made from camel's milk after addition of 75% and 50% sheep's milk were the most acceptable compared to other cheeses. Hence sheep's milk could be added to camel's milk for improvement of cheese properties.展开更多

The concept of objectivity is reviewed and distinction is made with material frame-indifference whose meaning is restricted to the invariance of the balance equations relative to Galilean frames. Objective time derivatives are defined to leave the tensor character of the appropriate field invariant within the set of Euclidean frames. Rate equations are required to involve objective time derivatives and to be consistent with the second law of thermodynamics. Here the general structure of objective time derivatives is established and the known derivatives of the physical literature are shown to be particular cases. Next, to fix ideas, a rate equation is considered for the model of heat conduction via a generalization of the Maxwell-Cattaneo equation with higher-order gradients as in the Guyer-Krumhansl equation. The thermodynamic restrictions are investigated and the expected effects, of the selected derivative of the heat flux, on the stress tensor are derived.展开更多

The simulated water elevation, current velocity, and direction were validated with observed data to ensure the reliability of hydrodynamic model. The seasonal growth of different algae was analyzed with consideration of observed and historical data,as well as simulated results. In 2008,the dominant algae in Dianshan Lake was Bacillariophyta from February to March, while it was Chlorophyta from April to May,and Cyanophyta from July to August. In summer, the biomass of Cyanophyta grew quickly, reaching levels much higher than the peaks of Bacillariophyta and Chlorophyta. Algae blooms primarily occurred in the stagnation regions. This phenomenon indicates that water residence time can influence algal growth significantly. A longer water residence time was associated with higher algal growth. Two conclusions were drawn from several simulations: reducing the nutrients inflow had little effect on algal blooms in Dianshan Lake; however, increasing the discharge into Dianshan Lake could change the flow field characteristic and narrow the range of stagnation regions, resulting in inhibition of algal aggregation and propagation and a subsequent reduction in areas of high concentration algae.展开更多

Critics, so far, have pointed out the mystic, didactic, and philosophical aspects of Wordsworth's nature poetry. In the backdrop of global deforestation and environmental degradation, traditional approaches to the evaluation of Wordsworth's nature poetry have lost charms and appeals to both the readers and the environmentalists. So, new approaches to the judgment of his poetry are a demand of the day. Keeping this demand in view, this paper aims at delving deep into Wordsworth's selected nature poems from eco-scientific point of view. Eco-scientific approach, missing in the previous analysis of his poetry, may pave the way for opening up a new trend for the new generation of readers and critics.展开更多

To investigate the peak latency of the orbital presaccadic spike potential (SP) with horizontal eye movement in normals.Methods. Orbital SP was recorded in 28 normal subjects from 8 electrodes around the eyes with Pz as the reference while performing 5°, 10°, 20°, 30° and 40°horizontal saccades to visual targets. SP peak latency was measured from SP onset to SP peak on averaged data aligned on SP peak.Results. Significant main effects on SP peak latency are found for saccade size (<0. 01), saccade direction (P<0. 01) and electrode site (P<0. 05). No significant main effect on SP peak latency is found for eye (P>0. 05). SP peak latency increases with increasing saccade size from 5°to 40°. SP peak latency is longer with saccades back to center than away from center, and with abducting saccades than with adducting saccades. SP peak latency differs at the electrode sites with an order from shorter to longer as follows: inner canthus (IC); inferior orbit (IO): outer canthus (OC); superior orbit (SO).Conclusicos. The effects on the peak latency of orbital SP can be explained by the saccade dynamic property, volume conduction as well as physiologic and anatomic factors of the eyes and orbits. The peak latency of orbital SP can be used to reflect the temporal characteristics of ocular motor units controlling saccadic eye movement.展开更多

Elementary- and high-school libraries, as well as the academic ones, are ubiquitous as associates and promoters of importance of information in the Digital Age. Information literacy becomes a foundation of an individual's literacy in general and leads him/her toward lifelong learning that becomes a philosophy on the way to a society of knowledge. The paper presents research results of informatics and information literacy among students with a purpose of improving the library mission and vision within future education. Data were collected by poll and the pollees were high-school and university students of Slavonski Brod and Osijek. This study found that although the trend of Internet usage in a library is not high, the percentage of those possessing a basic Information and Communication Technology OCT) literacy level is high. Another significant fact is that the number of those unskilled in ICT usage (online database and catalog search) is high which represents a challenge to the libraries and ICT experts who are the incumbents of great responsibility.展开更多

Different algorithms are used for learning Bayesian Networks in order to compare several models. It is suggested that researchers can use Bayesian Networks to explore the potential relationship between variables of complex social problems. The result indicates that learning target and family closeness degree are the key variables which influenced college student' s network service time. Origin of student and family economy didn' t influence college student' s network service time directly. Schools and community should strengthen the education of college students life planning and communication with parents.展开更多

If the procedures inherited from writing workshops have undoubtedly proved efficient as regards text production, it is also clear that in Switzerland, as elsewhere in Europe and in the Anglo-Saxon world, the present use of evaluation grids with their numerous items prevents secondary school pupils from adopting the stance of an author. Why? Simply because the most innovative and "literary" texts are always surprising: They are "different", and could not possibly result from writing guidelines devised only to facilitate a mechanical evaluation itself conceived for the sake of some illusory objectivity... Now, in our postmodern age with its rejection of models, what is more difficult than assessing the quality of creative writing? In our approach, we suggest restoring confidence in the teacher, an expert reader if any, who, acting as a publisher, dramaturge, or mere aesthete, knows how to take his pupils' texts seriously, acknowledge their aesthetic value, and look at apparent clumsiness as a possible promise of innovation. The teaching of creative writing lies both in this specific reception of budding works and in the teacher's performative utterances that, then and there, make the pupil a writer.展开更多

文摘A hydrodynamic model and an aquatic ecology model of Dianshan Lake,Shanghai, were built using a hydrodynamic simulation module and the water quality simulation module of Delft3D,which is an integrated modelling suite offered by Deltares. Two conclusions were drawn from several simulations: reducing the nutrients inflow had little effect on algal blooms in Dianshan Lake; however, increasing the discharge into Dianshan Lake could change the flow field characteristic and narrow the range of stagnation regions, resulting in inhibition of algal aggregation and propagation and a subsequent reduction in areas of high concentration algae.
文摘From time immemorial down to the present decade, poets, dramatists, and fictionists have portrayed nature in different ways in their works. Eco-scientific approach, missing in the previous analysis of his poetry, may pave the way for opening up a new trend for the new generation of readers and critics.
文摘The current financial turmoil in the United States has been attributed to multiple reasons including healthcare expenditure.Health care spending has increased from 5.7 percent of the gross domestic product(GDP) in 1965 to 16 percent of the GDP in 2004.Healthcare is driven with a goal to provide best possible care available at that period of time.Guidelines are generally assumed to have the high level of certainty and security as conclusions generated by the conventional scientific method leading many clinicians to use guidelines as the final arbiters of care.To provide the standard of care, physicians follow guidelines, proposed by either groups of physicians or various medical societies or government organizations like National Comprehensive Cancer Network. This has lead to multiple tests for the patient and has not survived the test of time. This independence leads to lacunae in the standardization of guidelines, hence flooding of literature with multiple guidelines and confusion to patients and physicians and eventually overtreatment, inefficiency, and patient inconvenience. There is an urgent need to restrict articles with Guidelines and develop some strategy like have an intermediate stage of pre-guidelines and after 5-10 years of trials,a systematic launch of the Guidelines. There can be better ways than this for putting together guidelines as has been suggested by multiple authors and researchers.
文摘Purpose. The peak latency of orbital SP can be used to reflect the temporal characteristics of ocular motor units controlling saccadic eye movement.
文摘A society of knowledge has a mission based on information dissemination and its usage, but its purpose cannot be completely realized without library as an institution that collects, processes, archives, protects and provides library collections to the public. Another significant fact is that the number of those unskilled in ICT usage (online database and catalog search) is high which represents a challenge to the libraries and ICT experts who are the incumbents of great responsibility.
文摘The authors reviewed the influence of various factors--inductive, mesomeric and steric effects, and magnetic fields and time correlation ratio. The authors offered the new correlation ratio in Chemistry and Biology with respect to time and magnetic field. The proposed formula takes into account the influence of the magnetic field on the correlation ratio.
文摘Due to the uncertainty of the factors that influence the network service time and other characters of college student, Bayesian Network is used to model this kind of system. Schools and community should strengthen the education of college students life planning and communication with parents.
文摘How to teach creative writing at school? The teaching of creative writing lies both in this specific reception of budding works and in the teacher's performative utterances that, then and there, make the pupil a writer.
文摘In this paper, we conduct research on the timeliness and effectiveness of university thought political lesson education practice. What person, how to cultivate people is developing the socialist education enterprise in our country must solve fundamental problem. College students is a national valuable human resources, are the hope of nation, the future of our motherland. To make university students grow up to be the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics qualified builders and reliable successors, we not only need to vigorously improve their scientific and cultural quality, and actively improve their ideological and political quality. College students' ideological and the political education content system of the science building is refers to according to the requirements of college students' ideological and political education goal, to constitute elements of ideological and political education content should be reasonable configuration, make each other, permeate each other, in order to realize the content of organic integration and collaborative development.
