Purchasing policy model based on components/parts unification

This paper presents a mathematical model for components/parts unification (CPU) policy. This model considers two components/parts that are functionally interchangeable but purchased from suppliers with different prices and quality characteristics. Because of the buyer's quality preference and suppliers' discount rates for bulky purchases, the model assists the procurement manager to determine how best to purchase the components/parts to meet its demand while minimizing the total acquisition costs.

On Harmonious Teaching and University English Intensive Reading Teaching in China

This paper mainly introduces harmonious teaching and provides some advice and suggestions based on the characteristics of university English intensive reading in China by using literature analysis. It also states the author＇s view on harmonious teaching theory.

Bar in SILL Questionnaire for Multiple Results Processing： Users＇ Frequency and Confidence

One hundred and fifteen first-year students of Greek took the SILL （Strategy Inventory for Language Learning） questionnaire in an attempt to reveal and activate potential a successful and widely used questionnaire like SILL might have but not identified and investigated so far. The first original point to be investigated, tackled in a previous experiment （Kambakis-Vougiouklis, 2012）, concerns users＇ confidence whether their choice of a specific strategy is effective while the second point concerns the use of the bar as an alternative statistical tool. More specifically, in this particular experiment the bar is not divided only into five equal length spaces as in the first experiment but also into five equal area spaces according to Gauss distribution, giving the researcher the chance to investigate possible differences between two ways of data processing--an advantage only the use of the bar could provide in the analysis stage. Additionally, there are advantages concerning results collection, as subjects and researcher will have a completely free choice among infinite points on a line rather than a limited 3, 4, 5, and 6 of a Likert scale, avoiding at the same time fine verbal differences between different subdivisions. Although the two different methods of processing performed homogeneous behaviour with not statistically considerable differences, it needs further applications in order to reach safe conclusions

Diagrams Produced by Secondary Students in Multiplicative Comparison Word Problems

We investigated the use of diagrams in multiplicative comparison word problems. The diagrams have been considered as one of the effective heuristic strategies or solving math problems. However, how students use during their school and the degree development that shows in their performance when applied to specific fields of knowledge is a task to be elucidated. We place our study in the school stage in which it makes the transition from arithmetic to algebra and arithmetic problems we focus on in the underlying multiplicative comparison scheme. In this paper, we analyzed the responses of high school students to the translation of multiplicative comparison word problems to representation graphs. We have used the responses of 12 -14 year old students （freshman year of secondary school） to represent multiplicative comparison word problems to identify and categorize the students responses, which allowed us identify categories for each type of representation and hypothesize priority order and subordination between the categories. Results show that students are not familiar with building diagrams that integrate existing relations in word problems. Most of the students do not use all the quantitative information contained in the word problem, therefore draw diagrams referring to the subject or context of the problem without relating to the data in it. We describe in detail the quantitative diagram types produced by these students. We have identified four kinds of quantitative diagrams that the students used to represent the multiplicative comparison problems with inconsistent statements, and these diagrams correspond to the four strategies for tackling the construction of the diagram.

Analysis of College Students＇ life views and life education strategy

Through the method of questionnaire survey, this paper investigate the current status of life views from some college students in Guangdong Province, to get more acquainted with the problems existing in college students of life views, and analyze the reasons, in order to put forward specific, feasible and effective suggestions aimed at the current status of college students at school, and provide strategic thinking for the implementation of life education for college students. Through the implementation of life education strategy, cultivate college students to aware of understanding life, cherish life and love life, and then learn to respect life, care for life, accept life and other people.

The Strategy of Integrating Enterprise Culture into College English Teaching Under the New Curriculum Reform

With the overall promotion of the new curriculum reform, teachers’ teaching ideas have greatly changed. Under this background, how to apply the concept of new curriculum reform guide the reform of college English teaching is an important task. Therefore, it is very important to study the teaching strategies of college English teaching. Culture and language are complementary and inseparable, which requires us to carry out cultural teaching during English teaching process. In this paper, we focus on the strategy of integrating enterprise cultures into college English teaching, and discuss several cultural teaching problems in college English class. As a language required course, English not only strengthen the learners’ language skills, but also enhance humanistic quality of students. However, current college English teaching takes the examination as the goal, which cannot meet the needs of the learner’s professional stuff. We propose the strategy of integrating the professional background into English teaching, in order to improve the students’ ability of comprehensive application of English and the professional quality.

Teaching Large Classes in Chinese High Schools: What Do Teachers Say and Do?

Teaching English to large classes is a common phenomenon in developing countries, and China is no exception. Such an issue has attracted attention of many researchers worldwide over the past two decades. However, such research in China has been relatively rare. This paper reports an investigation into teachers＇ perceptions and practices of teaching English to large classes in Chinese schools. The study used both quantitative and qualitative methods to explore teachers＇ attitude towards their perceived problems regarding teaching English to large classes, and the strategies they used to cope with large classes. Results show that an overwhelming majority of the Chinese English teachers （92.6%） hold a negative attitude towards teaching English in large classes. Pedagogical issues, management-related difficulties and psychological burden emerged as major obstacles. Despite these problems, teachers were seeking strategies to cope with the problems in their daily practices with more or less success.
