Root number, length and diameter were recorded and single root specimens were classified and tested for tensile strength. The results show that root anchorage is different between the two constructions by bolts and wire. Under limited soil condition, root anchorage ability is 80% lower than when there is sufficient soil due to the reduction of the diameter and number of all second-order lateral roots, as well as the reduction of the tensile strength of the embedded second-order and first-order lateral roots on limited soil. We conclude that the distribution and anchorage of Vitex negundo L. is affected by limited soil availability on rocky slopes.展开更多

The quality of the studies was found to be relatively low. Meta-analysis showed that puerarin injection combined with western medication was more effective than conventional therapy for rate, nerve conduction velocity(NCV), and hemorheology index. Six adverse drug reactions(ADRs) from puerarin injection were reported in two studies. Reactions included facial flushing, palpitations, and pain at infusion locations. However, noserious ADRs were reported.CONCLUSION: Puerarin injection was effective for the treatment of DPN. Puerarin can improve the total effective rate, correct NCV that was decreased by diabetes, and improve the hemorheology index.Puerarin was also relatively safe clinically. However, since the articles included in the study were not high-quality, more studies should be conducted to strengthen their findings.展开更多

Methods: A 3D reconstruction model for the desired lumbar vertebra was generated by using the Mimics 10.11 software, and the optimal screw size and orientation were determined using the reverse engineering software. Afterwards, a drill template was created by reverse engineering principle, whose surface was the antitemplate of the vertebral surface. The drill template and its corresponding vertebra were manufactured using the rapid prototyping technique. Results: The accuracy of the drill template was confinned by drilling screw trajectory into the vertebral biomodel preoperatively. This method also showed its ability to customize the placement and size of each screw based on the unique morphology of the lumbar vertebra. The drill template fits the postural surface of the vertebra very well in the cadaver experiment. Postoperative CT scans for controlling the pedicle bore showed that the personalized template had a high precision in cadaver experiment and clinical application. No misplacement occurred by using the personalized template. During surgery, no additional computer assistance was needed. Conclusions: The authors have developed a novel drill template for lumbar pedicle screw placement with good applicability and high accuracy. The potential use of drill templates to place lumbar pedicle screws is promising, Our methodology appears to provide an accurate technique and trajectory for pedicle screw placement in the lumbar spine.展开更多

Methods: From July 2005 to January 2007, 22 cases (18 males and 4 females, aged 28-57 years, 42.7 years on average) of lumbar burst fractures were treated with surgical procedures in our hospital. Based on the routine posterior approach, one of the transverse processes of the injured vertebra was incised to get access to the lateral side of the injured vetebral body. After all the displaced fracture fragments were cleared away and the spinal canal was decompressed, the titanium mesh packed with autografts was implanted from the lateral side to reconstruct the anterior and middle columns. The adjacent above and below segments of the vetebral body were fixed with transpedicular screws. The operation time, intraoperative blood loss, vertebral height, degree of kyphotic deformity and comprised spinal canal were documented. Results: The average operation time was 3.5 hours (ranging 2.8-5.8 hours) and the average blood loss was 820 ml (ranging 650-2 100 ml). All the cases were followed up for 17.2 months on average ( ranging 12-28 months). The height of the injured vetebral body was restored from 24 % (12%- 45%) preoperatively to 96% (95%-99%) postoperatively (P〈0.05). The natural spinal curvatures and spinal canal were restored. Three cases were involved in transient iatrogenic nerve root injury and 1 case was involved in the loosening of the connected rod of the pedicle screw system 3 months postoperatively. Conclusions: The technique of implanting the titanium mesh by posterior approach is effective and safe enough to reconstruct the anterior and middle columns in treating lumbar burst fractures.展开更多
