The conventional Kalman filter is widely used for integration of GPS/INS, however, due to the model and numerical computation errors, the Kalman filter may diverge in engineering implementation. In order to solve this problem, an extended Kalman filter based on the U D factorization is proposed. Moreover, the high order integrated system suffers from the problem of long computation time, leading to difficulties in real time applications. An algorithmic approach is developed to improve the computational speed. A typical aircraft trajectory is simulated to compare the improvement in the computational speed and the navigation accuracy using the conventional Kalman filter and the fast Kalman filter based on the U D factorization. The results indicate that the methods proposed in this paper are very effective in overcoming these problems for the high dynamic integrated GPS/INS system.展开更多

Because the IKF algorithm is applicable only to linear interval systems, the extended interval Kalman filter (EIKF) algorithm for non linear integrated systems is developed. A high dynamic aircraft trajectory is designed to test the algorithm developed. The results of computer simulation indicate that the EIKF algorithm is consistent with the traditional SKF scheme, and is also effective for uncertain non linear integrated system.展开更多

The INS/GPS integration with constant lever arm effect is studied. The position relation of IMU and GPS's antenna is represented in the earth centered earth fixed frame, while the velocity relation of these two systems is represented in local horizontal frame. Due to the small integration time interval of INS, i.e. 0.1 s in this work, the nonlinearity in the INS error equation is trivial, so the linear INS error model is constructed and addressed by Kalman filter's prediction step. On the other hand, the high nonlinearity in the observation equation due to lever arm effect is addressed by unscented Kalman filter's update step to attain higher accuracy and better applicability. Simulation is designed and the performance of the hybrid filter is validated.展开更多

It can be applied not only to large system decentralization, but also to precision realization at approximately the same level of the global filter, thus, making possible the engineering operation as well as shortening the computing time. This paper discusses the principles and features of SODKF when used in GPS/INS integrated navigation system. The system will be firstly divided into three subsystems and then corrected in both open and closed loops. The system simulation results by two integrated patterns show that SODKF is efficient and realizable. While the three subsystems are simulated in series, the computing speed doubles that of the global system. In addition, its optimal estimating precision remains unchanged. It can be concluded from this paper that large integrated navigation systems with GPS, INS, Terrain Match, Loran C, Doppler Radar and Radio Altimeter can be made more efficient by this multi subsystem of navigation.展开更多

This gravity measurement system consists of a strap-down inertial navigation system and a differential global positioning system (DGPS). In April 2010, a flight test was carried out in Shandong Province of China to test the accuracy of this system. The test was designed to assess the re- peatability and accuracy of the system. Two repeated flights and six grid flights were made. The flying altitude was about 400 m. The average flying speed was about 60 m/s, which corresponds to a spatial resolution of 4.8 km when using 160-s cutoff low-pass filter. This paper describes the data processing of the system. The evaluation of the internal precision is based on repeated flights and differences in crossover points. Gravity results in this test from the repeated flight lines show that the re- peatability of the repeat lines is 1.6 mGal with a spatial resolution of 4.8 kin, and the internal precision of grid flight data is 3.2 mGal with a spatial resolution of 4.8 km. There are some systematic errors in the gravity results, which can be modeled using trigonometric function. After the systematic errors are compensated, the precision of grid flight data can be better than 1 mGal.展开更多

It consists of 14 satellites, including 5 satellites in Geostationary Orbit (GEO), 5 satellites in Inclined Geosynchronous Orbit (IGSO), and 4 satellites in Medium Earth Orbit (MEO). In this paper, its basic navigation and positioning performance are evaluated preliminarily by the real data collected in Beijing, including satellite visibility, Position Dilution of Precision (PDOP) value, the precision of code and carrier phase measurements, the accuracy of single point positioning and differential position- ing and ambiguity resolution (AR) performance, which are also compared with those of GPS. It is shown that the precision of BDS code and carrier phase measurements are about 33 cm and 2 mm, respectively, which are comparable to those of GPS, and the accuracy of BDS single point positioning has satisfied the design requirement. The real-time kinematic positioning is also feasible by BDS alolae in the opening condition, since its fixed rate and reliability of single-epoch dual-frequency AR is comparable to those of GPS. The accuracy of BDS carrier phase differential positioning is better than 1 cm for a very short baseline of 4.2 m and 3 cm for a short baseline of 8.2 km, which is on the same level with that of GPS. For the combined BDS and GPS, the fixed rate and reliability of single-epoch AR and the positioning accuracy are improved significantly. The accu- racy of BDS/GPS carrier phase differential positioning is about 35 and 20 % better than that of GPS for two short baseline tests in this study. The accuracy of BDS code differential positioning is better than 2.5 m. However it is worse than that of GPS, which may result from large code multipath errors of BDS GEO satellite measurements.展开更多

Indoor positioning systems have a huge market in the retail sector and contextual advertising; in addition, they can be fundamental to increasing the quality of life for citizens if deployed inside public buildings such as hospitals, airports, and museums.Sometimes, in emergency situations, they can make the difference between life and death. Various approaches have been proposed in the literature. Recently, thanks to the high performance of smartphones' cameras, marker-less and marker-based computer vision approaches have been investigated. In a previous paper, we proposed a technique for indoor localization and navigation using both Bluetooth low energy(BLE) and a 2D visual marker system deployed into the floor. In this paper, we presented a qualitative performance evaluation of three 2D visual markers, Vuforia,Ar Uco marker, and AprilT ag, which are suitable for real-time applications. Our analysis focused on specific case study of visual markers placed onto the tiles, to improve the efficiency of our indoor localization and navigation approach by choosing the best visual marker system.展开更多
