This study focused on the difference of kinematics between mole crickets and normal insects in terrestrial walking. In order to study the function of the specialized foreleg, the adjustments made to the foreleg amputation were discussed by analyzing the motion ability, gait, and body posture of the mole cricket with and without forelegs. The re- suits show that mole crickets walk in terrestrial locomotion by using a special tripod gait, with the clumsy foreleg not as func- tional as normal hexapods. Mole cricket can make corresponding adjustments for the situation of missing forelegs, and achieve required molion stability with remained four legs.展开更多

Tibial fixation was performed with reconstruction plate. Four weeks after the replantation, active and passive exercises were initiated in both of the knee joints. Four months after surgery, the patient was capable of walking independently for 20-30 m without the aid of crutches. After 28 months' follow-up, plantar sensitivity was defined as S3. This patient was satisfactory with the cosmetic and functional results.展开更多

Humerus shortening may need specialized treatment to restore the functional and cosmetic status of upper limb. We report a case of humerus lengthening of 9 cm with a monorail external fixator and the result was observed during a 2-year follow-up. Humerus lengthening needs specialized focus as it is not only a cosmetic issue but also a functional demand. The monorail unilateral fixator is more functional and cosmetically acceptable, and thus becomes an effective treatment option.展开更多

She complained of a neck pain and a complete quadriplegia and was diagnosed as having spondyloptosis of the C6-C7. Skeletal traction was performed on her. CT scan showed fractures of the C5, C6, and C7 vertebral body. The patient underwent anterior approach partial corpectomy with anterior cervical locking plate and strut grafting from ipsilateral iliac crest. Intraoperatively it was found that the disc was completely ruptured and there was a dural tear and cerebrospinal fluid leak. Her postoperative period was complicated by cerebrospinal fluid collection and posterior instrumentation was not performed due to the poor general condition. She had no neural recovery at the last follow-up. Spondyloptosis is a severe and highly unstable injury with a three column ligamentous disruption and may be complicated, as in our case, with a dural tear.Management of these cases is fraught with complications, and prognosis for neural recovery is dismal.展开更多
