In this work,an approach is proposed to acquire synonymous attribute phrases of named entities(NEs) from an online encyclopedia.Synonymous attribute phrases are the phrases that express the same attribute with differe...In this work,an approach is proposed to acquire synonymous attribute phrases of named entities(NEs) from an online encyclopedia.Synonymous attribute phrases are the phrases that express the same attribute with different surface forms for a class of NEs.Specifically,the proposed approach is composed of three stages.Firstly,the entries related to a given NE class are automatically selected from an online encyclopedia.Secondly,attribute phrases are extracted based on the statistics of phrase frequency.Thirdly,synonymous attributes are identified in a pairwise manner through a classification framework combining multiple features.The proposed approach is applied on Baidu Baike,a Chinese online encyclopedia,for four different NE classes.Experimental results show that the approach obtains an average precision of 74%and an average F-value of 65%for the four NE classes.In particular,thousands of synonymous attribute phrase pairs are acquired for each class,which demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed approach.展开更多

What is interesting, the criterion for self-compactibility is not taken into consideration in commonly used self-compacting tests. On the basis of different tests concerning self-compacting concrete mixes, it has been found out that too high air content in their volume was the result of superplasticizer, in spite of meeting the self-compactibility criteria (i.e., self-venting). For the decrease of too high air volume in SCC, the use of anti-foaming admixture (AFA) is proposed. As a result, the effect of AFA mix flow diameter is increased and the flow time is decreased. Moreover, the workability loss is lower. In case of mix incorporating AFA, their high flowability does not cause segregation of the mix, what is possible in case of SCC incorporating only superplasticizer. However, the time of the introduction of AFA and its type is essential to get higher flowability degree, but it is not important to achieve low air volume in SCC.展开更多

The faculty from the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry devised a scheme for the identification and segregation...The accumulation of generated chemical wastes posed a serious problem for the UP College of Pharmacy. The faculty from the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry devised a scheme for the identification and segregation of the chemical wastes and created a system for proper disposal of future chemical wastes. There were a total of 1,142 of accumulated chemical waste bottles, 804 of which were subjected to identification and segregation procedures. The wastes were preliminarily tested for its solubility/miscibility in water and acidity or basicity. The identification was done by qualitative tests for cyanide, sulfide, halogenated, non-halogenated, oxidizing, nitro, and heavy metal compounds. The final segregation was based on the presence of the most hazardous component or on pH and water-miscibility. The Department then developed and implemented a scheme for the proper disposal of the chemical wastes generated in laboratory experiments done in the College. Laboratory experiments were also modified to use less toxic and less amounts of chemicals.展开更多

These computing models refer to formulas of the threshold sizes of cracks (or threshold values of damages); the propagating rates of cracks; the predicting calculations of lifetime; Particularly, in which it provides a best new comprehensive figure that it could be including mid describing all problems mentioned above. So it may be as a bridge to link the traditional material mechanics, the material discipline and the modem mechanics on fatigue-damage-fracture; perhaps, it can also be as route diagram to guide designs and calculations to some materials and structures. The purpose of this article is to analyze the impact of corporate governance and disclosure policy on corporate financial performance by examining the combined effect of board characteristics and disclosure level on f...The purpose of this article is to analyze the impact of corporate governance and disclosure policy on corporate financial performance by examining the combined effect of board characteristics and disclosure level on financing costs. The empirical analysis, conducted on a sample of 192 Canadian companies, generally shows the importance of board characteristics in determining the level of disclosure and firms' costs of financing. In particular, the results found indicate that boards whose characteristics meet the governance requirements that are associated with greater transparency in disclosure on governance attributes reduce the costs of financing of their companies by debt as well as by equity capital.展开更多
