Methods 58 male Wistar rats were used and randomly divided into three experimental groups (n=18 for each) and a control group (n=4). In control group, the rats were allowed to access drinking water freely at all experimental period. In the experimental groups the water supply to the rats was restricted. In timed water supply (TW) group, the water was supplied twice a day, 10 min for each in fixed hours every day. In empty bottle-served (EB) and water-restricted (WR) groups, the water was served only once a day for 10 min, either in the early morning or evening, and in the other time point scheduled for water supply only an empty bottle without water was provided in the EB group and nothing was given in the WR group. The quantities of drank water and eaten food, weight-gaining, and behavior score were observed every day. The serum level of corticosterone was assayed and the rats were sacrificed with fixative perfusion of 3 d, 7 d or 14 d respectively, following water restriction (n=6 for each time point in each group). The brain c-Fos expressions were examined with immunohistochemistry. Results The slowing down of weight-gaining, rise of serum corticosterone level, occurrence of psychological behavioral manifestations of unpeaceful restlessness such as exploring and attacking, enhance of c-Fos expression in the subfomical organ (SFO), median preoptic nucleus (MnPO), area postrema (AP), hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus (PVN), supraoptic nucleus (SON), medial (MeA) and central (CeA) amygdaloid nucleus and ventrolateral septum (LSV) were noticed in both EB and WR groups, except the nucleus of solitary tract (NTS) in which the Fos expression was decreased. The changes of Fos expression in most of nuclei in EB group began at day 3, at least persisted till day 7, and backed down at day 14. While in WR group, similar changes started at day 7 and reached its peak at day 14. In TW group, only the concentration of corticosterone at day 7 was slightly increased and the rest indexes observed were unchanged. Conclusion The results indicate that water restriction induces physical as well as psychological stress responses. And the water restrictions experimentally executed in different modes result in different manifestations of behavioral response and brain immediately early gene expression in discrete brain nuclei/regions.展开更多

People establish multiple identities for themselves, with or without references to the real world, and behave according to those identities. Self-made components of virtual presence are not limited to identities only; many users also create hyper-personalities for themselves with the help of new technologies. Then, the fundamental question becomes: Why do people create self-made identities and hyper-personalities to portray or hide themselves in social media environments? The answer to this question has certain connections and implications for behaviors of social media users. Therefore, researchers have investigated why some people find social media attractive and attend whenever possible, while others are afraid of social media and hesitate to attend. Positive and negative behaviors of social media users can be classified as braggadocian and preventative. Braggadocian behaviors are related to courageously taking advantage of social media, whereas preventative behaviors are concerned with avoidance of social media. The dominant behavioral pattern of a user depends on what one can achieve through attending or preventing social media. This paper first discusses basic elements of human behavior that drive social media such as altruism, hedonism, connectionism, homophily, multiple identities, memetics, narcissism, and tribalism. Then, it focuses on precautionary elements of human behavior such as avoidance, escape, blocking, fear, hiding, removal, and protectionism. Whether they are attentive or not, one thing is clear: People refrain or enrich their own lives in social media rather than being abused or watching others in industrial media.展开更多

To determine the effects of losartan and captopril treatment on ventricular remodeling and function after myocardial infarction in rats. Methods. Thirty-two rats with MI induced by coronary ligation after seven days were divided into four groups randomly and treated with captopril(2 g. liter-1, group A), losartan(10 mg. kg-1. d-1, group B), losartan(30 mg. kg-1. d-1,group C) and placebo (no drug, group D) for six weeks, respectively. Shamoperated rats(group E)served as controls. Echocardiography was performed at 1 and 7 weeks after MI, re- spectively. Results. Compared with the results before treatment, both LV end-diastolic internal diameter and volume decreased significantly and the thickened Posterior wall was reversed in group A, B and C; the peak early filling velocity decreased whereas the peak velocity was increased in these three groups. There are no significant difference among the three treated groups. However,LV end-diastolic internal diameter and the E/A were still increased, whereas the thickness of anterior wall and the peak velocity of LV outflow were decreased in group A,B,and C after treatment comparing with group E. Conclusion. Both angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor and angiotensin II receptor antagonist can prevent the ventricular remodeling and improve the ventricular function.展开更多

The algorithm transforms 8 channel simultaneous ECG into three orthogonal vectors and spatial velocity first, then forms the spatial velocity sample, and uses this spatial velocity sample to recognize each beat. The algorithm computes the averaged parameters by using averaged spatial velocity and the averaged ECG and the current parameters by using the current beat period and current width of QRS. The algorithm can recognize P, QRS and T onsets and ends of simultaneous 12 lead ECG precisely, and some arrhythmias such as premature ventricular beat, ventricular escape beat, R on T, bigeminy, trigeminy. The algorithm software works well on a real 8 channel ECG system and meets the demands of designing.展开更多

This study explores literary pieces, which deal exclusively with murder in order to prove that the two disciplines literature and criminology, are intimately connected and essentially inseparable. Some literary pieces which deal with identifying the thought processes of murderers have been so insightful that crime experts applied them to certain high-profile cases. That so much violent crime is depicted in literature should stimulate further research into the links between criminology and literature. Robert Browning's “The Laboratory: Ancien Regime” (1844) is selected as a case study in order to demonstrate how criminological theories can successfully be applied to literary pieces. Browning's protagonist will prove to be a fictional manifestation of a female sadistic criminal as defined by psychiatrist/criminologist Paul De River in his criminology/sexology textbook for law enforcement personnel The Sexual Criminal(1949) .展开更多

This paper discusses one of the modern methods of time series analysis--a method of deterministic chaos theory. It involves the transition from study of the characteristics of the signal to the investigation of metric (and probabilistic) properties of the reconstructed attractor of the signal. It is shown that one of the most precise characteristics of the functional state of biological systems is the dynamical trend of correlation dimension and entropy of the reconstructed attractor. On the basis of this it is suggested that a complex programming apparatus be created for calculating these characteristics on line. A similar programming product is being created now with the support of RFBR. The first results of the working program, its adjustment, and further development, are also considered in the article.展开更多

Although we know a great deal about how individual signal components are produced by plants and detected or learned by pollinators, very few experiments directly address the function of floral signal complexity, i.e. how the multicomponent nature of these signals benefits plant or pollinator. Yet, experimental psychology suggests that increasing complexity can enhance subjects' ability to detect, learn and remember stimuli, and the plant's reproductive success depends upon ensuring that pollinators learn their signals and so transport pollen to other similar (conspecific) flowers. Here we explore functional hypotheses for why plants invest in complex floral displays, focusing on hypotheses in which floral signals interact to promote pollinator learning and memory. Specifically, we discuss how an attention-altering or context-providing function of one signal may promote acquisition or recall of a second signal. Although we focus on communication between plants and pollinators, these process-based hypotheses should apply to any situation where a sender benefits from enhancing a receiver's acquisition or recall of information .展开更多

Network probing tools, which are deployed as a bypass device at a mobile core network gateway, can collect and analyze all the traffic for security detection. However, due to the ever-increasing link speed, it is of vital importance to offioad the processing pressure of the detection system. In this paper, we design and evaluate a real-time pre-processing system, which includes a hardware accelerator and a multi-core processor. The implemented prototype can quickly restore each encapsulated packet and effectively distribute traffic to multiple back-end detection systems. We demonstrate the prototype in a well-deployed network environment with large volumes of real data. Experimental results show that our system can achieve at least 18 Gb/s with no packet loss with all kinds of communication protocols.展开更多

The candidate of rules are extracted from the personality description sentences about factors: extroversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism and openness in the big five theory of personality psychology. In this paper, interaction and self-reform rules are not described by personalities themselves; instead, they are described by corresponding phenomena: activity, empathy, persistence, autonomy, and analytical ability which appear in the behavior side. Each member's initial value is determined from the main 5-factor personality investigation to the member, and the target value is given by the member's self-declaration. The rule selection is carried out by the genetic algorithm, where a sigmoid function is introduced in the renewal algorithm of the value, whereby a difficulty of setting the renewal parameters is avoided. An analysis is added about the obtained rules, and the validity of this approach and the subjects for future study are discussed. Finally, consideration is extended to the effect of environment on the behavior of members to reinforce the set of rules.展开更多

Experimental results show that our system can achieve at least 18 Gb/s with no packet loss with all kinds of communication protocols.
文摘This paper tries to find interaction rules between members and self-reform rules of members in some scientific research laboratories at a graduate school. Finally, consideration is extended to the effect of environment on the behavior of members to reinforce the set of rules.
