In recent years, it is remarkable that various robots are being developed, and the development of robot technology is beginning to be taken into an actual living space. There are still many questions that we will have to answer for the harmonization of living together with a robot. This study is focused on "the study of how to plan and design a living space in harmonizing with robots", and focused on the effects of infants (subjects) along with the distance between robots and themselves. The study is to seek for the minimum distance for the subjects who felt that "I do not want a robot to be any closer being approached to me". This experiment was conducted among 30 infants at the kindergarten, utilizing a small experimental robot. A small robot whose dimension is 120 mm (W) ×130 mm (D) × 70 mm (H), approaching infants as is to see if it would make any differences to the infant's reactions. 展开更多

In laboratory conditions, effects of rearing temperature and stocking density were examined on hatching of fertilized egg and growth of auricularia larvae of Apostichopus japonicus respectively.Data series like larval length and density, metamorphic time, and survival rate of the larvae were recorded.Statistics showed that for A.japonicus, survival rate(from fertilized egg to late auricularia) decreased significantly with the increasing rearing temperature(P<0.05).At different temperatures SGR was statistically significant as well(P<0.05) from day 1,and maximal SGR was found on day 9 at 24℃(159.26±3.28).This study clearly indicated that at low temperature(<24℃),metamorphic rate was remarkably higher than at higher temperature(>26℃).Hatching rate was significantly different between 0.2-5 ind./ml groups and 20-50 ind./ml groups.Rearing larvae at the higher density had the smaller maximal-length,whereas needed longer time to complete metamorphosis. This study suggested that 21℃ and 0.4 ind./ml can be used as the most suitable rearing temperature and stocking density for large-scale artificial breeding of A.japonicus's larvae. 展开更多

The presented work is based on laboratory testing of seed germination speed, emergence and seedling growth under different stress conditions simulated by subnormal water revel, extreme high and low temperatures. It allows one to eliminate the plant materials (initial breeding materials and cultivars) which do not tolerate extreme temperatures and temperature changes during germination, have low water use efficiency and is intolerant to abiotic stressors all right at the seed level. It was confirmed that these genotypes also have poor t^eld emergence and initial root growth implications for further vegetation periods, mainly for over wintering and spring regeneration which has significant influence on the yield. The method also represents the tool for screening genetic resources with the resistance to the abiotic stressors and this technology process is also acceptable for other crops. The results confirm the importance of the seed and root characteristics for crop production. The deteriorating quality of soil in recent years, increasing variability of weather and long periods of drought directly support the need to intensify activities in this research. Obtained results also show the influence of seed quality characteristics on roots and above ground parts of the plant. A relationship exists also vice versa. 展开更多

The diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella L., has developed resistance to most insecticides used for its management. Suggested alternatives to forestall this process include biorational insecticides in mixtures with low-risk insecticides. The aim of this study was to select an insecticide or insecticide mixture that could be adopted by small-scale growers for diamondback moth management. The effectiveness of four insecticide mixtures, i.e., Agroneem Plus (neem-derived), Spinosad (microbial origin), thiamethoxam (neonicotinoid) and a homemade methanol Jalapefio pepper extract, in laboratory bioassays was evaluated. Binary mixtures were tested against single products at manufacturer's label rates. These were applied to collard greens using the leaf dip method and fed to the newly molted 2nd or 3rd instar larvae. Mixtures were evaluated for efficacy based on larval mortality and consumption of leaf discs. The results showed interactions between Jalapefio pepper extract and Spinosad and between the neem-derived Agroneem Plus and thiamethoxam at some of the tested concentrations. Mixtures with at any amount of Spinosad killed all larvae. The neem-based product gave inconsistent results in some treatments; in some case, increased leaf damage did not result in commensurate larval mortalities. The reported resistance of diamondback moth larvae to Spinosad was not observed during this study, neither with Spinosad alone nor in mixtures. 展开更多
