The main purpose of this paper is to obtain a reliable model of subgrade soil water content variation under the action of dry-wet cycle through sensor readings. Thus,an indoor soil column model test system is designed, and the readings of the sensors are used to determine the changing law of moisture field in the subgrade soil. The sensor readings indicate that the water content gradually decreases along the height of the soil column, and the water in the upper part of the soil column continuously loses, while the water in the lower part migrates upward to supplement. With the increase of dry-wet cycle index, the water holding capacity of soil decreases, and the soil surface gradually cracks and tends to rupture.展开更多

By theoretical calculation, super absorbent polymer (SAP) size and its existent state in indoor static airflow were obtained. SAP content in the sampled air was tested through chemical analysis method and found to be 3.0-7.2 times that of the human health limit in production areas. The concentrations of total suspending particles (TSP) and respirable particles were achieved by weighing. Particles of the most concern differ for varied function areas. Particles smaller than 10μm are mostly produced in the main production process, and 73%-90% particles generated in packing areas are larger than 10μm. SAP raw material particles can easily changed to suspending form by inevitable extrusion and frication. Correlation between respirable particles and TSP agrees well with that in atmospheric environment.展开更多

The authors therefore developed new weathering test condition based on the existing accelerated weathering test using a xenon arc lamp. Samples of LDPE were photo degraded using various accelerated weathering test conditions and outdoor exposure. The physical properties and chemical structures of the photo degraded samples were studied through a tensile test, infrared spectroscopy, and gel chromatography. The authors found that the molecular weight distribution curve of a sample photo degraded using a xenon lamp at a higher BPT (black panel temperature) (73 ~C) was more similar to that of an outdoor-exposed sample than that of a sample photo degraded at the standard BPT (63 ~C). It is considered that higher temperature accelerates radical recombination, consequently recreating molecular enlargement similar to the outdoor-exposed sample. Multiple regression analysis using newly introduced Mp (peak-top molecular weight) and Mw (weight-average molecular weight) as explanatory variables was conducted, which successfully enabled the authors to provide a simple explanation for the decrease in polymer tensile strength.展开更多
