The simulation results show that XPM induces the distortion of waveforms and the leak of side lobes. And the larger the modulation bandwidth is, the larger the leak of side lobes is. Furthermore, the power transmission function of NOLM T is distorted because of the XPM-induced nonreciprocity: Tm decreases when the splitting ratio of the coupler f∈(0,0.5) and increases when f∈(0.5,1.0).展开更多

The evaluation included 189 overtaking lanes, 404 km of road widening and shoulder sealing in various places between Brisbane and Cairns, 56 capacity focused projects and 16 flood immunity focused projects. The total projected capital costs of all projects proposed as part of the BHAP amounted to over 16 billion dollars. The program evaluation conducted, due to the short timeframes, lack of available data and strategic nature of the plan, has been "coined" a strategic evaluation. This paper focuses on the methodology applied to the projects proposed in the BHAP. A TMR designed project/program evaluation model (CARP (Concise Analysis of Road Programs) V1.0) was used to evaluate the majority of the proposed BHAP projects. The model produces streams of discounted benefits and costs of the projects and program using limited and incomplete data. The large scale of work and the close proximity of projects allowed for an integrated approach to the analysis, which considered the impact projects have on each other. The result of the program, if all evaluated projects are included, is a BCR (benefit cost ratio) of approximately 0.7l at a discount rate of 7%. If the less viable projects are removed from the program, the program can obtain a benefit cost ratio of greater than 1 with a sufficiently large number of projects remaining.展开更多

But its implementation is not easy as the traditional network transmits data with only one path where its bandwidth is lower than the demand. Although the current network technology like SDN has the ability to precisely control the data transmission in the network, but till now the standard openflow protocol does not support splitting one flow to multiple flows. In this paper, a flow splitting algorithm is proposed. The algorithm splits a data flow to multiple sub-flows by extending the openflow protocol. A multiple paths routing algorithm is also proposed to implement the multi-path parallel transmission in the paper. The algorithm selects multiple paths and minimizes the cost of transmission under the constraint of maximum delay and delay variance. The simulations show the algorithms can significantly improve the transmission performance.展开更多

Integral equations are applied for electromagnetic modelling of supernatural materials. Some special charac- teristics of the metamaterials are shown. Moreover, quasi-static Lorentz theory and numerical method (i.e., the method of moments for solving the electric field integral equation) and the transmission line theory are both presented to obtain the effective consti- tutive relations of metamaterials, respectively. Tests were carried out with tillage tines to study the effect tool width on soil disturbance and draught. Depth of operation was held constant at 35 mm and then at 70 mm while speed was varied at three levels of 1.0, 3.6 and 9.0 km/h. The widths of the tines tested were 10, 20, 31, 40, 51, 88, 126, 163 and 200 mm. The cone penetration resistance of the soil varied from 400 to 600 kPa. Draught was measured with a load cell while soil disturbance was measured with a profile meter and meter rule. Draught increased at a decreasing rate with tine width. Quadratic models best fitted the data points with high R2 values. The increase in draught was affected by the forward speed since higher draught values were obtained at higher speed. Results show that the parameters of soil disturbance increased with increase in tine width, except height of ridge (hr), which did not show any specific trend. The specific draught was highest (10.63 N/cm) with tine T20 while Tine T1 had the least specific draught of 5.2 N/cm.展开更多

All the satellites are divided into two groups, one has high download requirements, and the other one has low download requirements. Each satellites group has its own controller for bandwidth allocation, and can get payments from the satellites for the allocated resources. The relationships between the controllers and satellites are formed as a Stackelberg game. In our model, differential equation is introduced to describe the bandwidth dynamics for the whole satellite communication network. Combine the differential equation and Stackelberg game together, we can formulate the bandwidth allocation problems in satellite communication network as a Stackelber differential game. The solutions to the proposed game is solved based the Bellman dynamic equations. Numerical simulations are given to prove the effeteness and correctness of the proposed approach.展开更多

New ideas are proposed, which are based on field programmable gate array ( FPGA ). First, digital PWM principles are discussed. The primary and secondary current characteristics are analyzed when the transformer is in both normal and magnetic bias conditions. Second, two digitalization methods are put forward after the research on PWM adjustment principles, which are based on the primary current feedback. Though the two methods could restrain magnetic bias, their realization is difficult. A new method is researched on double close-loops to overcome the above shortcomings, which uses the secondary current as the feedback signal and the primary current as the protection signal. Finally, the secondary current control made is discussed and realized. Welding experimental results show that the method has strong flexibility and adaptability, which can be used to realize the full digital welding power supply.展开更多

It uses the already existing power cable infrastructure for communication purposes. The EM (electromagnetic) field radiating from the cable could, however, disturb other communication systems, and thus should be evaluated. The MoM (method of moment) and the FEM (finite element method) have been studied to estimate the EVI field emitted from the power cable. However, the M oM is difficult to treat the dielectric material of the cable and the FEM is time consuming. This paperpresents a new approach to estimate the radiated EM fields caused by PLC sy stems from the CM current along the cable, based on the transmission line theory. The proposed model has the advantage of using the measured primary parameters of the cable. An experimental analysis of the EM radiation distribution is also presented. This work has looked into the difference that may occur between theoretical and experimental results. An experimental test carried out on models of waffle and solid slabs structures were described and results from twenty test samples are presented. Each specimen was subjected to an incremental axial loading of 1 kN interval after 28 days of casting. The flexural moments, deflections and crack width at failure were obtained. The experimental flexural crack and theoretical flexural cracks for both types of slabs were compared. The result for flexural moments for waffle was 5.526 kNm, while solid slab was 3.684 kNm. The deflections showed that waffle slabs has 3.64 mm while solid has 9.28 mm, hence waffle has a higher structural stiffness than solid slabs, but the flexural cracks did not give the same results especially for the estimated crack width. It was concluded that estimated results based on developed equations may not be accurate because it is based on ideal situation.展开更多

In the past, nonlinear interaction among wave groups has been studied on the basis of the nonlinear Sehrrdinger equation. Using this theoretical approach, we found that the nonlinear interaction among wave groups causes asymmetry in the shape of the wave envelope (steeper in the front of the curve of the envelope). An important consequence of this asymmetry is that the highest wave in a wave group appears one individual wave length ahead of the center of the wave group. Further results show that the degree of envelope asymmetry increases with increasing spectral width and the wave steepness. This theoretical analysis has been supplemented by a systematic experimental study of wind waves. Laboratory and some open sea wave data were analyzed. The results show that the shape of the wind wave envelope of wind waves has the same asymmetry predicted by the theoretical approach. The observed degree of deformation of the envelope also increases with increasing spectral width and the wave steepness as predicted by theory. These conclusions have important ramifications for practical applications of ocean wave theory.展开更多
