Synthesis of p toluidine o sulfonic acid from p toluidine by sulfonation in solvent was studied,and effects of various reaction conditions or factors on the reaction were discussed in detail.As a result,the following optimum process conditions are presented:50 mL dichlorobenzene,2%~5% oleum,molar ratio of sulfonating agent to p toluidine is 1.10~1.12,oleum is dropped in the reaction system in 10 min or so,sulfate formation time is 2 h,distillation lasts 8 h.Under the above conditions,the purity and the yield of p toluidine o sulfonic acid are better than that of the same product made in Japan. 展开更多

Plasma Surface Modification of Kevlar Fibers

Cold plasma techniques were used to treat the surface of Kevlar-49 fibers. The dynamic parameters of wetting, contact-angles and surface energy of the fiber before and alter the treatment were compared to see the changes in the wetting property. ESCA and electron spin resonance were utilized to examine the chemical composition and the attached free radicals of the fiber surface. The results, together with changes in the magnitude of the contact-angle and the number of free radicals with time after the plasma treatment do not show any ageing effect. Single filament test revealed that the tensile strength was not impaired but even improved somewhat after the plasma treatment. The experiment shows that the interlaminar shear strength of Kevlar fiber reinforced epoxy resin compo- site is increased for more than 60%% after the treatment. 展开更多

Poly(p-phenylenediamine)/chitosan (PPPDA/Chi) composite was prepared by in situ chemical oxidative polymerization of p-phenylenediamine (PPPDA) into chitosan (Chi) using ammonium persulphate (APS) as an oxidant. PPPDA and PPPDA/Chi composite were characterized by FT-IR spectra and SEM before and after copper loading. In batch adsorption method, the maximum removal of copper was experienced when 1 g/L of PPPDA and PPPDA/Chi composite dosages were used at pH 5.0 for PPPDA and 6.0 for PPPDA/Chi composite for 360 min for both sorbents. PPPDA showed adsorption capacity q<sub>e</sub><sup>max</sup> of 650 mg/g whereas its composite achieved q<sub>e</sub><sup>max</sup> of 573 mg/g. The experimental data correlate well with the Freundlich isotherm equation and the pseudo-second order kinetic model. The Cu(II), loaded PPPDA and its composite can be efficiently reused for as many as four cycles. The Cu(II)-loaded sorbents showed high antibacterial efficiency against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria than their unloaded forms. 展开更多

These soluble and meltable oligomers showing thermostability, semiconducting and paramagnetic properties and also high reactivity at reactions characteristic for aromatic hydroxyl groups were used as active filler at preparation of rubbers from butyl and butadiene-nitrile rubbers. It has been shown that in partial or full substitution of carbon black by oligohydroxynaphthylenes or cooligohydroxynaphthylenephenylamines in composition of vulcanizate the prepared rubbers are characterized by noticeably high heat-physical, physical-mechanical and electrical properties (Pv = 10^8 - 10^6Om. cm ). 展开更多

Developing chiral solid catalysts for asymmetric catalysis is desirable for the elimination of homogeneous catalysis flaws but remains an immense challenge.Herein,we report the immobilization of TsDPEN on SBA‐15 with an ionic liquid(IL)linkage via the one‐pot reaction of imidazole‐TsDPEN‐N‐Boc with 3‐(trimethoxysilyl)propyl bromide in the SBA‐15 mesopores.After coordination to Rh,the chiral solid catalysts could efficiently catalyze quinoline transfer hydrogenation,achieving 97%conversion with 93%ee,which was comparable to their homogeneous counterparts.The chiral solid catalyst with the IL linkage afforded much higher turnover frequency than that without the IL linkage(93 h^(–1)vs.33 h^(–1)),attributed to the phase transfer and formate‐enriching ability of the IL linkage.Furthermore,the effect of the pH on the reaction rate of the solid catalyst was investigated,preventing reaction rate retardation during the catalytic process.The tuning of the linkage group is an efficient approach for catalytic activity improvement of immobilized chiral catalysts. 展开更多

The structure of grafted fibers are studied by scanning electronic microscope ( SEM ), infra-red spectrophotometer ( IR ), and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC). At the same time, the moisture regain, dyeability, strength, and elongation at break of the samples are measured and their relations with structural changes are discussed. Compared with ungrafted fiber, shape of the fiber cross-section, IR characteristic absorption peaks, and melting behavior of the grafted fibers have been changed, causing the fiber dyeability and moisture regain to be increased, and mechanical properties to be changed. 展开更多

The inherent viscosities of the resulting PSA copolymers range from 1.54 to 1.66 dL/g. The precipitated PSA copolymers with feed content of p-phenylene diamine (PPD) being less than 50% (mole fraction) can be redissolved in N-methyl-2-pryrrolidone (NMP) or N, N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc) with lithium chloride of WLiC1 : 0.02. All of the PSA copolymers exhibit enhanced tensile strength in comparison with PSA and still maintain excellent thermal stability in either air or nitrogen atmosphere 展开更多
