Methods: 122 cases of primary dysmenorrhea were randomly divided into three groups. Fifty-two cases in the acupuncture group were treated with acupuncture. Forty cases in the medication group were treated with oral administration of Ibuprofen. Thirty cases in the placebo group were treated with oral administration of vitamin B1. The therapeutic effects were observed after treatments for three menstrual cycles. Results: The total effective rate was 96.2% in the acupuncture group, 80.0% in the medication group and 13.3% in the placebo group. By statistical management, the differences among the acupuncture group, the medication group, and placebo group were statistically significant (P〈0.05). Conclusion: Both acupuncture and western medication are effective for primary dysmenorrhea and acupuncture treatment is better than Ibuprofen展开更多

Methods: Such electronic database as Cochrane Library (Issue 1,2011), Medline (1950-2011), Embase (1980- 2011), National Knowledge Infrastructure ( 1979 -2011 ) were searched and meanwhile relevant journals such as Chinese Journal of Orthopaedics, Chinese Journal of Microsurgery, Chinese Journal of Neurosurgery, ere were searched as well to collect all randomized controlled trials and quasi-randomi- zed controlled trials of mNGF on patients with peripheral nerve injury. The quality of included studies was assessed according to the criteria recommended by the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions and the data were extracted by two reviewers independently. Meta- analysis was conducted by RevMan 5.1 software. Results: Forty-one studies involving 3 304 patients with peripheral nerve injury were included. The results of meta-analysis showed that: (1) the total effective rate ofperipheral nerve injury treatment in mNGF group was obviously higher than that in control group (OR=6.36, 95% C1 4.96-8.15, P〈0.01); (2) the scores of activities of daily living (ADL) in mNGF group was significantly higher than that in control group (weighted mean difference=1.97, 95% CI 1.33- 2.61, P〈 0.0 l); (3) the incidence of adverse reaction in mNGF group was higher than that in control group, (OR= 1.66, 95% CI 1.61-2.38, P=0.006), but the adverse effects were mild, which could be relieved without specific treatment or just given symptomatic treatment, and disappeared at the end of treatment. Conclusions: The mNGF therapy is effective for peripheral nerve injury. It can obviously improve patient's ADL. Though the incidence of adverse reaction in mNGF treatment group is higher than that in control group, this does not influence the treatment outcomes.展开更多

Methods: A multi-centered randomized controlled trial was conducted and the enrolled participants were divided into an ear acupuncture group and a control group. The ear acupuncture group was treated by electroacupuncture at auricular points, and the control one was prescribed for Geng Nian An (Menopause Helper) tablets. The therapeutic effects were evaluated after 10-day treatments. Results: For pre-menopausal patients, the total effective rate was 96.8% in the ear acupuncture group, versus 56.3% in the control. For post-menopausal patients, the total effective rate was 85.7% in the ear acupuncture group, versus 53.0% in the control. Conclusion: Both ear acupuncture and Geng Nian An (Menopause Helper) tablets were effective in ameliorating symptoms of perimenopause syndrome, with satisfactory compliance and safety. The clinical effect of ear acupuncture is better than that of Geng Nian An (Menopause Helper) tablets.展开更多

The quality of the studies was found to be relatively low. Meta-analysis showed that puerarin injection combined with western medication was more effective than conventional therapy for rate, nerve conduction velocity(NCV), and hemorheology index. Six adverse drug reactions(ADRs) from puerarin injection were reported in two studies. Reactions included facial flushing, palpitations, and pain at infusion locations. However, noserious ADRs were reported.CONCLUSION: Puerarin injection was effective for the treatment of DPN. Puerarin can improve the total effective rate, correct NCV that was decreased by diabetes, and improve the hemorheology index.Puerarin was also relatively safe clinically. However, since the articles included in the study were not high-quality, more studies should be conducted to strengthen their findings.展开更多
