Entropy Correlations and Entanglement of a Superconducting Charge Qubit in a Resonant Cavity in the Presence of Noise

We study the dynamics of the entropy correlations and entanglement in a system of interaction of a superconducting charge qubit with a single-mode resonant cavity subject to noise considered as two-state random phase telegraph noise. We show that although the noise has an apparent suppressing effect on the evolution of the entropies of the qubit and the field and also on the entanglement in the system, the entropy exchange between the qubit and the field is independent of it during the time evolution of the system.

Last Shakespeare Plays Directed by Yukio Ninagawa： Possessed by the Power of Theater

Yukio Ninagawa （1935-2016） was expected to achieve in a few years the great milestone of directing the complete collection of Shakespeare plays in new Japanese translations. This paper reconsiders Ninagawa＇s direction from a global/local perspective with a special focus on several last works directed by him： Richard II, performed by young players of the Saitama Next Theater in February 2012, which was especially intended for the local Japanese audience; Ninagawa Macbeth, which was performed in September 2015 and was a revival of the director＇s internationally-acclaimed production, first performed in Japan in 1980 and abroad in 1985 onwards; and Two Gentlemen of Verona, the thirty-first in his series of Shakespeare plays and seventh in his series of Shakespeare plays with all-male casts, in October 2015. His last plays were not as perfect as he was still experimenting. This paper concludes, however, that while possessed by the power of theater, his direction emits its magical and subversive power and suggestion to give the audience vital energy to live in this world of tough conflicts. He continued to hope to make global and local spectators wonder at the plays he directed.

From The Lodger （1913） to From Hell （2001）： Uncanny Portraits of Jack the Ripper？

During the last months of 1888 the populous quarter of Whitechapel, London, was stained with the blood of five women, all booked prostitutes and chronic alcoholics, worthy representatives of the diseases/vices of the Victorian East End. The shrewd and sanguinary Monster who realized these violent murders called himself ＂Jack the Ripper＂, signing with his ＂trade name＂ the letters he sent to the Central News Agency and through the press he soon became a myth, the most famous ＂serial killer＂ of all time. As a matter of fact, his legend survived, and his evil figure still haunts the pages of books and---of course--the frames of many films; among the most famous From Hell （2001） by Albert and Allen Hughes, taken from the graphic novel of the same name by Moore and Campbell; Jack the Ripper （1976） by Jess Franco, with a disturbing Klaus Kinski, but also the TV movie directed by David Wickes in 1998 entitled Jack The Ripper; more obliquely, Jack appears also in The Lodger （1913） and Frenzy （1972） by Alfred Hitchcock. But can these movies be defined as true biopics of Jack？ Strangely enough, it seems, these biographies contribute to build the mythic ＂anonymity＂ of the Ripper, encouraging （and fascinating） fear and nightmares.

The Guidance and Meaning directed by the Three Phases of Memory on the Reading of Literature Works Written by the Style of Stream of Consciousness ——taking the Work Hear the Wind Sing by Haruki Murakami as an Example

Recently, the researchers put their attention on the literature works on Virginia Woolf or James Joyce too heavily just because the skill of stream of consciousness is used through the novel completely. Choosing this novel by Japanese writer as an example is an experiment, because the stream of consciousness as a composing method has melted its impression into the modem novel. And in the researcher＇s opinion, regardless the traditional part, the researching focus should be shifted on the works written by nowadays writer. To begin this paper, there are four questions should be solved： First, the definition of stream of consciousness should be known clearly; another question is the structure analysis of structure of Hear the Wind Sing; secondly, compared with the mental space theory and blending theory by Fauconnier, how to judge the function of Three Phases of memory＇s direction on reading should be focused on; thirdly, the reason why readers meet the problem of barrier when they read the stream of consciousness novel, and how the memory helps to solve the problem should be study in this section. Fourth, the extra factors which support the function of memory will enhance the skill of reading the SOC novel and finally foreground the meaning.

Conductivity Inversion of Unidirectional CFRP Laminates Using Eddy Current Testing

Due to the electrical anisotropy of carbon fiber reinforced polymer(CFRP),this paper presents a method to inverse the anisotropic conductivity of unidirectional CFRP laminate using eddy current testing(ECT). The relationship between the conductivity and probe signal of ECT is studied by means of numerical simulation. Finally,the accuracy of inversion result is improved by optimizing the initial conductivity by use of experimental data.

Evolution of neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid, glutamate and their receptors

Gamma-aminobutyric acid （GABA） and glutamate are two important amino acid neurotransmitters widely present in the nervous systems of mammals, insects, round worm, and platyhelminths, while their receptors are quite diversified across different animal phyla. However, the evolutionary mechanisms between the two conserved neurotransmitters and their diversified receptors remain elusive, and antagonistic interactions between GABA and glutamate signal transduction systems, in particular, have began to attract significant attention. In this review, we summarize the extant results on the origin and evolution of GABA and glutamate, as well as their receptors, and analyze possible evolutionary processes and phylogenetic relationships of various GABAs and glutamate receptors. We further discuss the evolutionary history of Excitatory/Neutral Amino Acid Transporter （EAAT）, a transport protein, which plays an important role in the GABA-glutamate ＂yin and yang＂ balanced regulation. Finally, based on current advances, we propose several potential directions of future research.

Numerical Methods for Inverse Problem of Heat Conduction with Unknown Boundary Based on Variational Principles with Variable Domain

In this article a variable-domain variational approach to the entitled problem is presented.A pair of comple- mentary variational principles with a variable domain in terms of temperature and heat-streamfunction are first established.Based on them,two methods of solution—generalized Ritz method and variable-domain FEM— both capable of handling problems with unknown boundaries,are suggested.Then,three sample numerical examples have been tested.The computational process is quite stable,and the results are encouraging.This variational approach can be extended straightforwardly to 3-D inverse problems as well as to other problems in mathematical physics.

A Novel Variational Formulation of Inverse Problem of Heat Conduction with Free Boundary on an Image Plane

By introducing an image plane, the inverse heat conduction problem with free boundary is transformed into one with completely known boundaryt which is much simpler to handle.As a by-product, the classical Kirchhoff’s transformation for accounting for variable conductivity is rederived and an invariance property of the inverse problem solution with respect to variable conductivity is indicated. Then a pair of complementary extremum principles are established on the image plane, providing a sound theoretical foundation for the Ritz’s method and finite element method (FEM).An example solved by FEM is also given.

Evidence for nematic superconductivity of topological surface states in PbTaSe2

Spontaneous symmetry breaking has been a paradigm to describe the phase transitions in condensed matter physics.In addition to the continuous electromagnetic gauge symmetry,an unconventional superconductor can break discrete symmetries simultaneously,such as time reversal and lattice rotational symmetry.In this work we report a characteristic in-plane 2-fold behaviour of the resistive upper critical field and point-contact spectra on the superconducting semimetal PbTaSe2 with topological nodal-rings,despite its hexagonal lattice symmetry(or D3 h in bulk while C3 v on surface,to be precise).The 2-fold behaviour persists up to its surface upper critical field Hc2R even though bulk superconductivity has been suppressed at its bulk upper critical field Hc2HC<<Hc2R,signaling its probable surface-only electronic nematicity.In addition,we do not observe any lattice rotational symmetry breaking signal from field-angle-dependent specific heat within the resolution.It is worth noting that such surface-only electronic nematicity is in sharp contrast to the observation in the topological superconductor candidate,CuxBi2Se3,where the nematicity occurs in various bulk measurements.In combination with theory,superconducting nematicity is likely to emerge from the topological surface states of PbTaSe2,rather than the proximity effect.The issue of time reversal symmetry breaking is also addressed.Thus,our results on PbTaSe2 shed new light on possible routes to realize nematic superconductivity with nontrivial topology.

Directed Current Induced by an Symmetrically ac Force Coexisting with a Time-Delayed Feedback

We study the transport of overdamped Brownian particles in a symmetricaJly periodic potential in the presence of an asymmetrically ac driving force and a time-delayed feedback. It is found that for low frequencies, the average velocity can be negative by changing the driving amplitude, for high frequencies, there exists an optimized driving amplitude at which the average velocity takes its maximum value. Additionally, there is a threshold value of driving amplitude below which no directed transport can be obtained for high frequencies. For the large value of the delay time, the average velocity is independent of the delay time.

Inverse Radiation Problem of Boundary IncidentRadiation Heat Flux in Semitransparent Planar Slabwith Semitransparent Boundaries

An inverse method is presented for estimating the unknown boundary incident radiation heat flux onone side of one-dimensional semitransparent planar slab with semitransparent boundaries from theknowledge of the radiation intensities exiting from the other side. The inverse problem is solved usingconjugate gradient method of minimization based on discrete ordinates method (DOM) of radiativetransfer equation. The equations of sensitivity coefficients are derived and easily solved by DOM, withthe result that the complicated numerical differentiation commonly used in solving sensitivity coefficients is avoided. The effects of anisotropic scattering, absorption coefficient, scattering coefficient,boundary reflectivity, fluid temperature outside the boundaries, convection heat transfer coefficients,conduction coefficient of semitransparent media and slab thickness on the accuracy of the inverse analysis are investigated. The results show that the boundary incident radiation heat flux can be estimatedaccurately, even with noisy data.

Multi-Type Directed Scale-Free Percolation

In this paper,we study a long-range percolation model on the lattice Z d with multi-type vertices and directed edges.Each vertex x ∈ Z d is independently assigned a non-negative weight Wx and a type ψx,where(Wx) x∈Z d are i.i.d.random variables,and(ψx) x∈Z d are also i.i.d.Conditionally on weights and types,and given λ,α > 0,the edges are independent and the probability that there is a directed edge from x to y is given by pxy = 1 exp(λφψ x ψ y WxWy /| x-y | α),where φij 's are entries from a type matrix Φ.We show that,when the tail of the distribution of Wx is regularly varying with exponent τ-1,the tails of the out/in-degree distributions are both regularly varying with exponent γ = α(τ-1) /d.We formulate conditions under which there exist critical values λ WCC c ∈(0,∞) and λ SCC c ∈(0,∞) such that an infinite weak component and an infinite strong component emerge,respectively,when λ exceeds them.A phase transition is established for the shortest path lengths of directed and undirected edges in the infinite component at the point γ = 2,where the out/in-degrees switch from having finite to infinite variances.The random graph model studied here features some structures of multi-type vertices and directed edges which appear naturally in many real-world networks,such as the SNS networks and computer communication networks.

Improving the Performance of Practical Decoy-State Measurement-Device-Independent Quantum Key Distribution with Biased Basis Choice

Statistical fluctuations are unavoidable in realistic quantum key distribution (QKD) due to finite-size effect. Based on the four-intensity proposal on measurement-device-independent QKD (MDI-QKD) in [Phys. Rev. A93 (2016) 042324], we particularly analyze the scenario that only three intensities are used, namely a three-intensity decoy-state MDI-QKD with biased basis choice. After performing full parameter optimization method, simulations results demonstrate that this scenario can obtain distinct enhancement compared with the conventional unbiased threeintensity decoy-state method, e.g. Xu et al.’s [Phys. Rev. A 89 (2014) 052333]. Furthermore, results also show that it works more efficiently by using HSPS than using WCS at longer transmission distance.

Asymmetric Evolution of Two Two-Level Atoms Induced by Position-Dependent Excitation Phase

We report a phenomenon of asymmetric evolution of two two-level atoms which results from pump laser phase based on the model of[Phys.Rev.Lett.101(2008) 153601].Other than investigating the dynamical behavior of whole system,in this paper we investigate the effects of the pump laser phase on dynamic behavior of each atom.We find that two atoms show asymmetry both in time evolution of(population) excitation probability and quantum correlation with environment due to the quantum interference induced by pump laser phase as well as the dipole-dipole interaction.These phenomena are deeply related to the dynamical behavior of the whole system,therefore we can understand the dynamical behavior of whole system caused by pump laser phase from this point of view.

Global characteristics of the second-order ionospheric delay error using inversion of electron density profiles from COSMIC occultation data

It is a well known fact that ionospheric delay error is a predominant factor which influences the positioning accuarcy of GNSS.Although the main part of the first-order ionospheric delay error can be removed by the frequency-dependent behaviors of the ionosphere,the second-order ionospheric delay error must be eliminated to achieve millimetre-scale positioning accuracy.Due to COSMIC occultation providing electron density profiles on the global scale,the paper presents the first-order and the second-order ionospheric delay error analysis on the global scale using the inversion of electron density profiles from COSMIC occultation data during 2009–2011.Firstly,because of the special geographical location of three ISR(incoherent scatter radar),the first-order and the second-order ionospheric delay errors are calculated and discussed;the paper also shows and analyzes the diurnal,seasonal,semi-annual variation of ionospheric delay error with respect to signal direction.Results show that for the L1 signal path,the first-order ionospheric delay error is the largest near the equator,which is circa 7 m;the maximum second-order ionospheric delay error are circa 0.6 cm,0.8 cm and 0.6 cm respectively for L1 signals coming from the zenith,the north and the south at 10 degree elevation angles.The second-order ionospheric delay error on the L1 signal path from zenith are the symmetry between 15°and 15°with respect to magnetic equator,and are nearly zero at the magnetic equator.For the first time,the second-order ionospheric delay error on the global scale is presented,so this research will greatly contribute to analysing the higher-order ionospheric delay error characteristics on the global scale.

On Connes' trace formula for the Hankel transformation of order-1/2

A local Hankel transformation of order 1/2 is defined for every finite place of the field of rational numbers.Its inversion formula and the Plancherel type theorem are obtained.A Connes type trace formula is given for each local Hankel transformation of order 1/2.An S-local Connes type trace formula is derived for the S-local Hankel transformation of order 1/2.These formulas are generalizations of Connes' corresponding trace formulas in 1999.
