She wrote a large quantity of works of the highest merit and of far-reaching influence. Her attitude towards feminism has aroused wide attention and has been discussed hotly among feminist critics in different countries. The Mill on the Floss, which first appeared in1860, is regarded as the most excellent autobiographical novel of Eliot. The ideology of male power in the patriarchal society during the Victorian Era is internalized in people's heart, which brings huge influence on Maggie's female mental state. This paper aims to discuss the causes of Maggie's feminist thoughts and manifestation of her feminism, thus, the influence upon women in her times. The paper concludes that Eliot was a great female author full of pioneering feminist thought from the example given by Maggie in The Mill on the Floss.展开更多

The resuits show that the lysogenic state has lower entropy production rate than lyric state, which provides an explanation on why the lysogenic state of A phage is so stable. We a/so notice that the entropy production rates of both lysogenic state and lyric state are lower than that of saddle-point and bifurcation state, which is consistent with the principle of minimum entropy production for living organism in nonequilibrium stationary state. Subsequently, the relations between CI and Cro degradation rates at two bifurcations and the changes of entropy production rate with CI and Cro degradation are deduced. Generally speaking, no matter what overt images they assume, Madonna or madwoman, no matter which period they are in, no matter how hard they try, suffering more or less characterizes their normal living state and they generally have to face a doomed fate. However, Eliot is by no means a pessimist, and she will never let her heroines subject to their fate passively. In suffering, these heroines still believe in love and humanity. They keep their eyes on the misery of the world with great sympathy. They suffer for themselves, and more for others. Suffering is the source of their strength and their way to save the corrupted souls of their male counterparts. They put themselves on the cross of suffering, and in this process they eventually are elevated as Christ figures. Suffering, as Eliot has wished, serves as a baptism, a regeneration, and the initiation into a new state for the sufferers and also a salvation to the world.展开更多

In this paper, a local partial least squares based soft sensing method for multi-output processes is proposed to accomplish process states division and local model adaptation, which are two key steps in development of local learning based soft sensors. An adaptive way of partitioning process states without redundancy is proposed based on F-test, where unique local time regions are extracted.Subsequently, a novel anti-over-fitting criterion is proposed for online local model adaptation which simultaneously considers the relationship between process variables and the information in labeled and unlabeled samples. Case study is carried out on two chemical processes and simulation results illustrate the superiorities of the proposed method from several aspects.展开更多

The experiment was laid down in the form of a complete block experimental design with four treatments and four replications for three years. Treatments included: (1) conventional tillage without using subsoiler which was control treatment (So); (2) using subsoiler with the shank space of 40 cm which was equal to the subsoiling depth (SO; (3) using subsoiler with the shank space of 60 cm which was 1.5 times of the subsoiling depth (S2); and (4) using subsoiler with the shank space of 80 cm which was 2 times of the subsoiling depth (S3). Subsoiling depth was set at 40 cm which was the lower limit of the hard pan depth in the soil. Soil cone index, soil bulk density, soil moisture content, wheat yield, and yield components were measured in this study and SAS software was used to analyze the collected data. Results showed that subsoiling decreased the soil bulk density and cone index, and increased water retention of the soil. Results also revealed that applying subsoiler increased wheat yield and yield components in our dry land conditions. Since subsoiling improved soil physical conditions and increases wheat yield, applying subsoiler in such a dry land conditions is therefore recommended. Results of this study also showed that subsoiling with the shank space of 40 cm and 60 cm had better performance compared to the shank space of 80 cm. On the other hand, shank space of 40 cm reduced the subsoiler effective working width and consequently effective field capacity. Therefore, subsoiler with a shank space of 60 cm is recommended for application in dry land soils of our type.展开更多

The results show: ① 2 ~ 3 years before the 2014 Yutian Ms7. 3 earthquake, Xinjiang was in a seismic active state with strong earthquake occurring successively, and before the 2008 Ms 7. 3 earthquake, Xinjiang was in the quiet state of moderate-small earthquakes with M3. 0 ~ 4. 0. ② Before this Yutian Ms7. 3 earthquake, the regional seismic activity showed a short-term anomaly feature, that is, seismicity of M ≥ 5. 0 earthquakes significantly increased on the Altun seismic zone and in the source area three years before the Ms7.3 earthquake, while a five year long quiescence of seismicity of M ≥4. 0 earthquakes appeared on the east of the source area in a range of about 440kin. Six months before this M7. 3 earthquake, there existed seismic gap of M3. 0 ~ 4. 0 earthquakes and near-conjugate seismic belt magnitude 3. 0 and 4. 0 in the source area. ③ The state of strong earthquake activity and the seismicity pattern of small earthquakes before this Yutian Ms7. 3 earthquake were significantly different to that before the 2008 Yutian Ms7. 3 earthquake, and this may be related to the different seismogenic environments of the two Ms7. 3 earthquakes.展开更多

From Pinsky (1972) it is known that under regularity condition on the branching mechanism and immigration mechanism, the normalized population size converges to a non-degenerate finite and positive limit PV as t tends to infinity. We provide sharp estimate on asymptotic behavior of P(W≤ε〈) as ε→ 0+ by studying the Laplace transform of W. Without immigration, we also give a simpler proof for the small value probability in the non-subordinator case via the prolific backbone decomposition.展开更多

Meanwhile, peptide-Au cluster has been proposed as potential targeted nano-drug assembled by targeting peptide. Here, we designed and synthesized a novel peptide-Au cluster as AuloPeptides to target to EGFR. We found AumPeptides could target to the natural binding sites of all EGFRs at mem- brane in both active and inactive states by molecular simulations. Its targeted ability was further verified by the co-localization and blocking experiments. We also study the configuration modifications of both active and inactive EGFRs after binding by AumPeptides. For active EGFR, the absorbed AuloPeptide5 might replace the natural ligand in EGFR endocytosis process. Then, the peptide-Au cluster in endochylema could inhibit the cancer relating enzyme activity including thioredoxin reductasel (TrxR1) and induce the oxidative stress mediated apoptosis in tumor cells. For inactive EGFR, it was retained in inactive state by Au10 Peptides binding to inhibit dimerization of EGFR for anticancer. Both pathways might be applied in anticancer drug development based on the theoretical and experimental study here.展开更多
