Methods 58 childhood B-ALL cases were enrolled into this study and 33 MRD analyses were performed after remission induction therapy.Four-color combinations of fluorochrome labeled monoclonal antibodies against lymphocyte lineage related phenotypes were used to analyze leukemic cells with flow cytometry. The cells from normal bone marrow were used as controls. The combinations of phenotypes that reflect the antigen expression differences between leukemic and normal bone marrow cells on flow cytometry were considered to be the effective phenotype combinations in the first step screening. The effective phenotype combinations were then used to monitor MRD during the disease course after therapy began. Results 58 cases of childhood B-ALL were screened for MRD effective phenotype combinations. The effective phenotype combinations were identified in 89.7% of B-ALL cases in this study.Four-color phenotype combinations were composed of CD10/CD34/CD19 plus another effective marker such as CD38,CD58,CD66c,CD21.The senstitivity of this method was 0.01%,much higher than that of microscopic inspection. In 8 cases, their bone marrow microscopic inspection results showed no remaining leukemic cells;but with flow cytometry, the percentage of leukemic cells were 5.66%,0.36%,1.43%,0.069%,1.55%,2.7%,0.028% and 0.015%,respectively.In risk stratification, all these MRD positive cases were classified into high risk group for relapse and 1 case showed early relapse within 6 months. Conclusion The application of flow cytometry in MRD measurement can significantly improve the sensitivity of detection of remained leukemic cells in childhood B-ALL,and can provide more accurate information on disease progression as well as the efficacy of therapy, thus facilitate future treatment decisions and follow ups.展开更多

Methods: Eighteen renal biopsy specimens of MsPGN and 6 normal kidneys were studied by means of immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization. Results: ① Protein of α1 chain and γ1 chain of laminin increased around the segments of prolifera-tive mesangium. Increased expression of α2 and β1 proteins was found in the segments with mesangial proliferation whereas the β2 chain expression decreased in these areas. ② The mRNA expression of α1, α2, β1 and γ1 increased to different degrees in glomeruli with mesangial proliferation. But no difference was detected among Mild, Moderate, and Severe MsPGN. Conclusion:① The quantitative and qualitative alterations of laminin chains' distribution were found in the measngial proliferative glomeruli. The proliferative mesangial cells were the origins of abnormal accumulation and expression of laminins. ② These changes may be the basis of the progresses of MsPGN.展开更多

SIPMP production was tested by inhibition of platelet microbicidal protein (PMP) bioactivity against B. subtilis and was expressed as percentage of inhibition of PMP bactericidal activity.RESULTS: Among anaerobic isolates 80% of B. longum strains, 85.7% of A. israeli/strains, 50% of E. lentum strains and 92.86% of B. fragilis strains were SIPMP-positive. The isolated anaerobic organisms demonstrated SIPMP production at a mean level of 13.8% ± 0.7%, 14.7% ± 1.8%, 3.9% ± 0.9% (P 〈 0.05) and 26.8% ± 7.5% (P 〈 0.05) for bifidobacteria, A. israelii, E. lentum and B. fragilis, respectively.CONCLUSION: Data from the present study may have significant implications in understanding the pathogenesis of microecological disorders in the intestine, as well as for future improvement in the prevention and therapy of anaerobe-associated infections.展开更多

Data for this analysis were from the 2010 Mongolia Global School-Based Health Survey (GSHS). The GSHS administered a self-report questionnaire to a nationally representative sample (N = 5,328) of 7th-llth grade school children. Chi-square analyses and multivariate logistic regressions were performed to determine the prevalence and to predict the fruit and vegetable intake from associated factors. Only 7.0% of students met WHO's recommendation of eating fruits and vegetables S or more times per day. There was a significant association between gender and fruit and vegetable intake (P = .016). There was a significant relationship between living condition and fruit and vegetable intake (P =.029). Students who lived in apartment were more likely to have adequate fruit and vegetable intake than those who lived in ger in the khashaa. To be effective, educational interventions should be implemented as early as possible.展开更多

The research focuses on the specific topic, as school textbooks are utilized at the most during schooling and also, as they constitute the basis for the linguistic transfer of messages, values, and attitudes, which are used in all subjects and in the majority of teaching activities and actions. In addition, school textbooks of Greek Language contribute significantly to the cultural understanding and development of the child. This whole dimension is attempted to be highlighted in the present study, the main outcome of which is that via the school textbooks of Greek Language of the last three grades of the Greek Primary School, the emergence of the Rights of the Child is attempted at a satisfactory level. The present research is an empirical approach to textbooks of Greek Language of Greek Primary School on the Rights of the Child and it is innovative, for being the first evaluative approach on the aforementioned issue, since the last review of school textbooks in the Greek.展开更多

About 413 children aged 62^/1 - 82^/1 years from urban (236), rural (80) and industrial areas (97) were studied. Blood lead was analyzed using the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (GFAAS). Cognitive development was measured by the 'McCarthy Scales of Children's Abilities Test' (MSCA). Significant differences found in the mean cognitive scores between the urban (94.40), industrial (102.90) and suburban children (101.24) (p 〈 0.001), with the blood lead between the urban (3.66 p.g/dL), industrial (3.54 μg/dL) and suburban children (3.04μg/dL) (p = 0.022). Significant inverse correlations between blood lead and cognitive scores found for all groups (p 〈 0.001), urban (p 〈 0.001) and suburban children (p 〈 0.001). Low blood lead significantly influenced the cognitive development for all children after adjusting for confounders (p _〈 0.001). The urban children's cognitive scores were significantly influenced by blood lead levels and household income (p 〈 0.001). However, for the suburban children, the cognitive score were significantly influenced by the blood lead levels, the mothers' education, number of siblings, sequence in the family and the household income (p 〈 0.001 ). Blood lead below 10μg/dL influenced the cognitive development. Urban children had higher blood lead but suburban children with lower blood lead were also vulnerable to the effect of lead on their cognitive development.展开更多

Since then, teachers have had a lot of work to be done. Every year they have to prepare an individualized programme for each child with special needs. They have to set goals that each child with special needs has to achieve at a particular subject. Pupils have different teachers every year and to make their work easier, the author is considering making a website database with basic information about them. This database would state the goals that the pupil achieved in the past year, which strategy of teaching proved to be the best for him or her and what the areas he or she needs help with are. Teachers would be collecting this data during the primary education, after the final evaluation this database would also be made available to the secondary school of the pupil in concern. This database should be located on the website of Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports. It would be available to primary schools, but protected by a password which would grant the school access to the data of their students only. In secondary schools, teachers could also access to the information, so they would not have to be discovering appropriate teaching strategies that worked for a pupil in the past all over again. This would enable better conditions and a successful education for pupils with special needs.展开更多

AIH has a broad clinical spectrum and a quick response to treatment with corticosteroids and immunosuppressive medication. The available diagnosis criteria have limitations and should be evaluated in pediatric populations. Recently, some studies reported that the 2008 simplified diagnostic criteria for AIH could be used in children with high sensibility and specificity. In addition, the authors reported that globulin and immunoglobulin G levels can be used interchangeably for diagnostic purposes. They also demonstrated that the 2008 simplified criteria fail in identifying patients with fulminant hepatic failure. Here, we discuss the limitations of the use of these criteria in pediatric patients and the requirement of more studies to improve the diagnosis of AIH in children.展开更多
