Objective: To evaluate the relation between argyrophilic nucleolar organizer region (AgNOR)-associated proteins and clinicopathological parameters and survival in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Methods: A total of 207 surgical specimens diagnosed as NSCLC were included in this study. Double-staining procedures were performed using antigen Ki-67 (clone MIB-1) and silver nitrate by immunohistochemical and AgNOR-staining methods. Results: The AgNOR area in MIB-l-positive cells of NSCLC is related to clinicopathological parameters under the TNM (tumor, node, and metastasis) system. The survival of patients with small AgNOR area in MIB-1-positive cells is better than that of patients with large AgNOR area. Molecular, biological (AgNOR area in MIB-l-positive cells), and clinicopathological (greatest tumor dimension, metastases to regional lymph nodes, histology, and differentiation) parameters are independent prognostic factors of NSCLC.Conclusion: The AgNOR area in MIB- 1-positive cells is related to clinicopathological parameters and survival in NSCLC. 展开更多

Objective:The aim of our study was to evaluate the serum levels of CA19-9 in patients with non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)and to analyze the relationship between serum levels of CA19-9 and metastasis.Methods:Serum levels of CA19-9 in 1200 NSCLC patients from February 2006 to August 2011 were evaluated retrospectively.The relationship between serum levels of CA19-9 and sites of metastasis were analyzed.Results:Of the 1200 patients,528 were stage IV and the positive rate of CA19-9 was 32%(169 cases)and 288 stage III,positive rate 20%(58 cases);144 stage II,positive rate 12%(17 cases);240 stage I,positive rate 3%(7 cases).There were statistical differences from stage I to stage IV(P<0.01).The total positive rate in the 1200 cases was 21%.Furthermore,of the 528 stage IV cases,350 had bone metastasis and the positive rate of CA19-9 was 43%(150 cases)in bone metastatic cases.In turn,in CA19-9 positive patients(169 cases)of stage IV, the positive rate of bone metastasis was 89%(150/169).There was no statistical difference of positive rate of CA19-9 between adenocarcinoma and squamous carcinoma(P>0.05).Conclusion:Positive rate of CA19-9 increases accordingly from stage I to stage IV.The serum levels of CA19-9 may be as an indicator for metastases in patients with NSCLC,especially for bone metastasis in stage IV diseases. 展开更多

With the rapid development in recent years, small-molecule organic solar cell is challenging the dominance of its counterpart, polymer solar cell. The top power conversion efficiencies of both single and tandem solar cells based on small molecules have surpassed 9%. In this mini review, achievements of small molecules with impressive photovoltaic performance especially reported in the last two years were highlighted. The relationship between molecular structure and device performance was analyzed, which draws some rules for rational molecular design. Five series of p- and n-type small molecules were selected based on the consideration of their competitiveness of power conversion efficiencies. 展开更多
