The systemic manifestations include a proximal re-nal tubular defect (Fanconi-like), endocrinal disturbances, eye involvements, with corneal, conjunctival and retinal depositions, and neurological manifestations in the form of brain and muscle dysfunction. Most of the long-term ill effects of cystinosis are observed particularly in pa-tients with long survival as a result of a renal transplant. Its responsible CTNS gene that encodes the lysosomal cystine carrier protein (cystinosin) has been mapped on the short arm of chromosome 17 (Ch17 p13). There are three clinical forms based on the onset of main symp-toms: nephropathic infantile form, nephropathic juvenile form and non-nephropathic adult form with predominant ocular manifestations. Avoidance of eye damage from sun exposure, use of cystine chelators (cysteamine) and fnally renal transplantation are the main treatment lines. Pre-implantation genetic diagnosis for carrier parents is pivotal in the prevention of recurrence.展开更多

Some studies have found significant effect sizes while others have found low and non-significant effect sizes. Television effects scholars have postulated that these mixed results are caused by the inconsistencies of research methodology employed and the inability to control major mediating variables in the studies. The present study is designed with the objectives to overcome these shortcomings. The respondents for this study were 514 students aged between 13 and 18 from 10 schools in the State of Perak, Malaysia. Exploratory data analyses provided evidence that the employed instruments achieved sound psychometric properties. Hypotheses testing suggested that exposure to the Contents of Television Violence (TVCN) did not have a direct relationship with adolescents' aggressive behaviours; instead, Contextual Features of Television Violence (TVCX) totally mediated this relationship. Some other mediating variables then mediated totally and some mediated partially the relationship between TVCX and adolescents' aggressive behaviours. To conclude, this study provides valuable information for parents, the television industry, and the policy makers in recognizing pro-violent and anti-violent features of television violence programmes for Malaysian school-going adolescents. It also provides a new perspective for future studies of television violence in Malaysia.展开更多

The results showed significant changes in some parameters in comparison with control animals started as early as 15 minutes and intensified by the continuous exposure time, leading to significant increase (p 〈 0.05) in the number of both WBC (white blood cells), PLT (blood platelets) and decrease in numbers of RBC (red blood corpuscles) while hemoglobin percentages (Hb%) showed an insignificant (p 〉 0.05) fluctuating rhythm. The percentages of both Neutrophil and Lymphocyt recorded a significant increase (p 〈 0.05) 1 hour post-exposure to the DEE while other WBCs showed less changes. It is concluded that blood components are so sensitive to DEE and do respond quicker to inhaled pollutants via changes in some components of WBC% but decrease in RBC% and the likelihood of blood clotting due to increase in blood platelets. These results indicate the acute toxic risks of the exposure to DEE of mechanics and technicians who work in vicinity of DEE sources or/and spend most daily hours in semi closed areas.展开更多

In recent years, research on the phenomenon of Internet addiction focused on qualitative descriptions and study of the theoretical phenomenon, their research focused on the popularity of the first network, the U.S. conducted the most extensive study and makes more online survey. China started this study later, and lack of systematic research on the network psychology, which just mostly understanding the aspect of the phenomenon and countermeasures of stating intemet addiction, or to explore from a single aspect (such as: age, gender, etc.), it lack of theoretical studies of the psychological mechanisms and motives behind the addictive behavior on the network.展开更多

Lack of family education in critical period of their growth resulted that young people stay without the right guidance, and the development of self-consciousness does not enter the right track, causing a variety of psychological problems, which if not properly grooming, will become a crime risk, thus affecting the community stable. By focusing on children in the Three Gorges Reservoir area, we understand the causes of crime of rural adolescents, and then take proper countermeasures for prevention.展开更多
