This demonstrates that community tourism possesses a strength and vitality that can promote the development of tourism in the rural and mountainous areas. In the district of Zhenghe Village, the tourism industry, based on the community tourism model, is the mainstay of its economy. The practice of community tourism in the village not only promotes the economic development of the village community, but also leads to the protection of the mountainous natural environment and of the culture of the Qiang people. This paper investigates the development process of community tourism in Zhenghe and shows how the local residents participate in this process. It also looks at how profits have been distributed within the community. It demonstrates that community tourism is a correct choice by the Zhenghe people as they have dearly been moving from poverty to prosperity, while the local ecology and environment have been simultaneously protected. The authors hope that other minority villages with similar local conditions and natural resources will be able to use this example to develop their own community tourism.展开更多

From microcosmic and macroscopic viewpoints, the author carded out function orientation and evaluation to the tourism industry development, and research on the comprehensive tourism industry development pattern of Gannan. Results show that the fragile ecological environment and the traditional economic growth pattern have restricted regional sustainable development, and made Gannan to become a representative of the periphery minority areas in Northwest China. Tourism development of Gannan is at the primary phase, with the characteristics of short industry chain and low economic efficiency. It is an inevitable choice to transform the way of regional economic growth and the development pattern of tourism industry from the traditional pattern to the pattern of sustainable development. Simultaneously, Gannan's natural, national and religious culture makes Gannan a broad prospect on the comprehensive tourism development. Gannan should choose the comprehensive tourism industry as its scientific pattern to realize sustainable development, promote harmonious social, economic and ecological development, alleviate the human-land contradictory, and realize dual goals in terms of ecology construction and economical development. For Gannan and the similar areas in China, studies on the sustainable development pattern of tourism have extremely important strategic sense with respect to tourism development and the sustainable development of regional economy.展开更多

Periphery regions and cent...The ethnic areas of western Sichuan Province are characterized by complicated topography, seismic active zone, serious soil erosion, fragile eco-environment, low level of economy, and so on. Periphery regions and central regions appear in western Sichuan Province. The socioconomic development in the central regions is at high level, whereas the ethnic areas are generally at lower level. Moreover. the deterioration of the eco-environment has seriously restricted the development of traditional industries in the ethnic areas, and it is necessary to develop environment-friendly and resource-saving industries. The ethnic areas of western Sichuan Province are rich in tourism resources, and have the potentiality of developing ecotourism. Advantages' of tourism resources in the ethnic areas should be made full use of and "comprehensive tourism " is the requirement of the characteristics and the status quo of the ethnic areas. The "comprehensive tourism development model " has the functions of ecotourism on the key industry. Based on the demands and the interaction among different industries, the model cart accelerate the development of related-industries, such as eco-agrieulture, eco-industry, eco-tertiary industry, and so on. This transformation process is called "The Network Society" by Castells. According to Castells, people are living with long cables or networks that connect each other. With the progressing and spreading technological advances, entertainment sector is booming since 1950s even more dramatically than the computer sector. Digital games sector, in this perspective, has been the intersection area of the entertainment sector and the computer sector. We can include to these three sectors a fourth one: Communication (or Media) sector. With the convergence of these four sectors, there is an enormous sea of possibilities, opportunities and problemles faced by humans. Our information society is turning into games. Today, the traditional understanding of play has been replaced by digital games. Digital games as an independent communication tool differ from traditional play in that they include a new communication medium into action. There is a different communication process in these digital games, which especially is an interest to younger generations. Digital games provide an interactive environment with individuals as they allow electiveness, mobility and non-linearity. In an era of economic angst and where real and virtual identities are being discussed, individuals of the information society are searching for something different other than mass communication. They seek after individual experiences. The main focus in this study will be to analyze the habits of play in digital games. The relationship between digital games and their users will also be examined. The quantitative study of digital games will be a useful source for future studies and will bridge the gap in this area.展开更多
