Promoting the integration between engineering personnel training and business needs is an important and urgent issue of our outstanding program implementation. Based on the empirical research conclusions of "investigation on innovative engineering talent structure of Chinese enterprises" and "survey of the current outstanding engineer training model", analyzing the gap between outstanding engineer training and business needs, proposing to strengthen benefits on personnel training of both schools and enterprises, taking personnel training environment, talent development goals and talent evaluation criteria as a starting point, and promoting personnel training process is deeply involved in the smooth implementation of Outstanding Program.展开更多

On the basis of correcting for sample selection problems arising from labor market participation and short-term employment, rural migrants' wage function is estimated using quantile regression method, and wage gap between long-term and short-term rural migrants is decomposed using MM method. Our empirical results suggest that those with a higher level of education, training experience and local employment recommended by family relations or in formal labor market are more likely to secure long-term labor contract," region and education have significant contributions to the wage of rural migrants," rural migrants of both long- and short-term contract types have great gaps at the bottom of salary distribution; and there exists a sticky floor effect in wage difference of rural migrants. These results have important policy implications in enhancing employment stability of rural migrants, improving income distribution equity, speeding up the process of urbanization, and balancing regional development.展开更多

From a temporal dimension, variations in the technological gaps of China's industrial sectors can be divided into the following four stages: slight abatement of technological gaps between 1985 and 1992, and between 1999 and 2007; stagnation in the variation of technological gaps between 1994 and 1999; and continuous abatement of technological gaps between 2008 and 2009. From the industry dimension, by 2009, 58.8% of China's industrial sectors had gradually reached or approached the world frontiers of technology; 29.4% of industrial sectors had experienced technological improvements but still lagged far behind the world frontiers of technology; 11.8% of industrial sectors significantly lagged behind the world frontiers of technology.展开更多

Using the technology choice index (TCI) to measure the degree to which government policy is biased towards capital-intensive sectors, this paper conducts empirical tests of a series of theoretical hypotheses on the basis of Chinese provincial panel data for 1978-2008. We further find that changes in China's urban-rural income gap conform to a U-curve pattern, i.e. in the course of economic development, the income gap first decreases then increases.展开更多
