Magnetic induction tomography(MIT) is one of the newest industrial process imaging techniques.Main industrial applications of the MIT imaging are in high conductive flow imaging.However,recently it has been shown that...Magnetic induction tomography(MIT) is one of the newest industrial process imaging techniques.Main industrial applications of the MIT imaging are in high conductive flow imaging.However,recently it has been shown that the MIT may be useful for low conductive process imaging.This paper presents a cost effective hardware design for MIT in industrial applications,called Bath-MKI industrial MIT system.The system comprises 8 inductor coils and has the possibility of expansion to 16 coils.The excitation signals and the measured voltages are generated and measured using a LabView based system.Two 16 by 1 multiplexers are used to select between the coils.Measurements,excitation and multiplexing are all controlled by a National Instrument(NI) USB based DAQ:USB-6259 and a signal generator.Using the same electronics,the prototype is tested with two different coil arrays;one is a small scale ferrite core coil and one larger scale air cored coil.Experimental image reconstruction results are shown using both small scale and large scale coil arrays.展开更多

Besides nuclear wars and terrorism, reactor runaway and un-ruled radioactive source are the main nuclear accidents in peacetime. With the active development of the nuclear industry in China, the existing nuclear education system is becoming deficient or defective. Human factors play an important role in nuclear accident prevention and emergency response in the nuclear engineering system, non-nuclear professional staff are often the subject of personnel in most nuclear projects. In order to ensure the sustainable and efficient accord development of nuclear industry, general nuclear education is necessary for correlative non-nuclear professionals, such as technologies, management, safety, culture and ethic. The nuclear safety education should be included into the national education system.展开更多

This integration represents a sustainable development, so that humanization of work are increased, more effective use of natural and energy resources are achieved and production costs are reduced. Trends in the products manufacturing must meet both industrial engineering as well as production management. The development trends in the industrial engineering in manufacturing organizations must use methods and tools of advanced industrial engineering to achieve competitiveness. Currently the Botswana government uses the design-bid-build process, using prequalification and awards to the lowest bidder for construction services. The government can also use the design-build delivery system. The current delivery system uses an engineering group that delivers designs and construction, uses a procurement group to award the contract and contract modifications. However, the analysis for all actions is done by the engineering group. The model is very similar to the Corps of Engineers traditional processes in the United States. Construction performance (on time and no contract deviations) has not been good. The authors propose that the delivery system and the paradigm of direction, control and decision making by the engineering group causes risk to the project and results in poor contractor performance. The authors suggest making modifications in the process and to use the design-build process. The authors also propose to change the paradigm using best value PIPS/IMT concepts.展开更多
