This paper investigates the exponential synchronization problem of some chaotic delayed neural networks based on the proposed general neural network model,which is the interconnection of a linear delayed dynamic system and a bounded static nonlinear operator,and covers several well-known neural networks,such as Hopfield neural networks,cellular neural networks(CNNs),bidirectional associative memory(BAM)networks,recurrent multilayer perceptrons(RMLPs).By virtue of Lyapunov-Krasovskii stability theory and linear matrix inequality(LMI)technique,some exponential synchronization criteria are derived.Using the drive-response concept,hybrid feedback controllers are designed to synchronize two identical chaotic neural networks based on those synchronization criteria.Finally,detailed comparisons with existing results are made and numerical simulations are carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the established synchronization laws. 展开更多

A thermodynamic model has been developed to determine the reaction conditions favoring low temperature direct synthesis of barium titanate (BaTiO3). The method utilizes standard-state thermodynamic data for solid and aqueous species and a 0ebye-Huckel coefficients model to represent solution nonideality. The method has been used to generate phase stability diagrams that indicate the ranges of pH and reagent concentrations, for which various species predominate in the system at a given temperature. Also, yield diagrams have been constructed that indicate the concentration, pH and temperature conditions for which different yields of crystalline BaTiO3 can be obtained. The stability and yield diagrams have been used to predict the optimum synthesis conditions (e.g., reagent concentrations, pH and temperature). Subsequently, these predictions have been experimentally verified. As a result, phase-pure perovskite BaTiO3 has been obtained at temperature ranging from 55 to 85℃ using BaCl2, TiCl4 as a source for Ba and Ti, and NaOH as a precipitator. 展开更多

The present paper introduces the concepts of exergy and treats it applications to analysis of the gain in exergy efficiency between one-step and multi-step thermal processes. The analysis, which is carried out with the Excel-based SEPE program, is exemplified with the comparison between single-step and two-steps heat pump setup for providing heat to a floor heating system and for domestic hot water. The paper discusses the use of the concept of exergy efficiency as a measure of success for design of a heat pump application and how the use of information on exergy destruction and temperature levels in different parts of the system add a new perspective to the analysis and the evaluation of the system performance. The paper shows how this information can be used to improve the system configuration and also the operation of the system for given boundary conditions. This is especially useful when the energy from the low temperature sources can be utilized at different temperature or quality levels such as for space heating and domestic hot water. 展开更多
