The Beijing-Tianjin Sand Source Control Project(BTSSCP), a national ecological restoration project, was launched to construct an ecological protection system in the Beijing-Tianjin sand source areas to reduce dust hazards. The carbon sequestration dynamics can be used to assess the ecological effects of an ecological restoration project. Here, we conducted vegetation and soil study to assess the carbon sequestration in the plantations with 10 years old stands in Beijing-Tianjin sand source areas. The results at the site scales indicated that the average net increase of plantation ecosystem carbon stock was 33.8 Mg C ha^(-1), with an annual increase rate of 3.38 Mg C ha^(-1) yr^(-1). The average net increase of carbon varied among regions, vegetation types, and forest management activities. Soil bulk density in the top soil decreased slightly after 10-year implementation of the project. Coniferous forests and shrubs are suitable plant species for sand source areas.Natural restoration in the plantations is a practical and feasible and promising approach for enhancing ecosystem carbon sequestration potential. 展开更多

Fault diagnosis plays an important role in complicated industrial process.It is a challenging task to detect,identify and locate faults quickly and accurately for large-scale process system.To solve the problem,a novel Multi Boost-based integrated ENN(extension neural network) fault diagnosis method is proposed.Fault data of complicated chemical process have some difficult-to-handle characteristics,such as high-dimension,non-linear and non-Gaussian distribution,so we use margin discriminant projection(MDP) algorithm to reduce dimensions and extract main features.Then,the affinity propagation(AP) clustering method is used to select core data and boundary data as training samples to reduce memory consumption and shorten learning time.Afterwards,an integrated ENN classifier based on Multi Boost strategy is constructed to identify fault types.The artificial data sets are tested to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method and make a detailed sensitivity analysis for the key parameters.Finally,a real industrial system—Tennessee Eastman(TE) process is employed to evaluate the performance of the proposed method.And the results show that the proposed method is efficient and capable to diagnose various types of faults in complicated chemical process. 展开更多

To analyze the use of upper limb support during paraplegic walking assisted by functional electrical stimulation ( FES), a new dynamical measurement for handle reaction vector (HRV) ap- plied by patient to walker was proposed. To avoid the discomfort of direct monitoring, the dyna- mometer system was designed based on 12 string-gauge bridges instrumented on a standard walker frame. The detailed positions of these bridges were determined according to the deformation distri- butions of the walker frame under different directional components of HRV. To adapt the system to quantitative and reliable measurement, a redundant-optimized technique was developed in calibra- tion. The measurement accuracy, nonlinearity. and crosstalk of the designed system were investi- gated, which were better than 1.01%. 2.91%, and 3.19% respectively. Clinical trials were done with 6 paraplegic subjects using the system and one case was given as the example of actual mea- surement. All experiment and clinical trial results show that this method is reliable and practicable. 展开更多

Since 1980s, the rapid development of tissue engineering and stem cell research has pushed regenerative medicine to a new fastigium, and regenerative medicine has become a noticeable research field in the international biology and medicine. In China, about 100 million patients need repair and regeneration treatment every year, while the number is much larger in the world. Regenerative medicine could provide effective salvation for these patients. Both Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering have made roadmaps of 2010-2050 and 2011-2030 for regenerative medicine. The final goal of the two roadmaps is to make China go up to leading position in most research aspects of regenerative medicine. In accord with this strategy, the government and some enterprises have invested 3-5 billion RMB (0.5-0.8 billion USD)for the research on regenerative medicine. In order to push the translation of regenerative medicine forward -- from bench to bedside, a strategic alliance has been established, and it includes 27 top-level research institutes, medical institutes, colleges, universities and enterprises in the field of stem cell and regeneration medicine. Recently the journal, Science, has published a special issue-Regenerative Medicine in China, consisting of 35 papers dealing with stem cell and regeneration, tissue engineering and regeneration, trauma and regeneration and bases for tissue repair and regenerative medicine. It is predicated that a greater breakthrough in theory and practice of regenerative medicine will be achieved in the near future (20 to 30 years). 展开更多
