BTHP 30 μmol·L -1 significantly prolonged APD 90 from 143±16 ms to 184±21 ms ( P 【0.01, n=5) without affecting either the RP or APA, and the APD prolonging effects of BTHP were independent of extracellular Ca 2+ . BTHP inhibited both I kr (IC 50 =7 9 μmol·L -1 ) and I ks (IC 50 =22 4 μmol·L -1 ) in a concentration dependent fashion. The results demon strated that BTHP had no obvious selectivity for I kr and I ks .展开更多

Methods After cultured in vitro for 14 d, the rat organotypic midbrain slices were pretreated with different concentrations (0, 1, 3, 6 or 10 ng/mL) of LPS for 24 h followed by treatment with 100 ng/mL LPS for 72 h. The whole slice viability was detelmined by measurement of the activity of lactic acid dehydrogenase (LDH). Tyrosine hydroxylase-immunoreactive (TH-IR) neurons and CD 1 1 b/c equivalent-immunoreactive (OX-42-IR) microglia in the slices were observed by immunohistochemical method, and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α levels in the culture media were detected by enzymelinked immunosorbent assays (ELISA). Results In the slices treated with 100 ng/mL LPS for 72 h, the number of TH-IR neurons reduced from 191± 12 in the control slices to 46±4, and the LDH activity elevated obviously (P 〈 0.01), along with remarkably increased number of OX-42-IR cells and production of TNF-α (P 〈 0.01). Preconditioning with 3 or 6 ng/mL LPS attenuated neuron loss (the number of TH-IR neurons increased to 126± 12 and 180± 13, respectively) and markedly reduced LDH levels (P 〈 0.05), accompanied by significant decreases of OX-42-IR microglia activation and TNF-α production (P 〈 0.05). Conclusion Low-dose LPS preconditioning could protect dopaminergic neurons against inflammatory damage in rat midbrain slice culture, and inhibition of microglial activation and reduction of the proinflammatory factor TNF-α production may contribute to this protective effect. Further understanding the underlying mechanism of LPS preconditioning may open a new window for treatment of Parkinson's disease.展开更多

The recently introduced, endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS)-guided trucut biopsy (TCB) is a useful diagnostic rnodality for obtaining tissue samples from peripancreatic lesions. However, its role in diagnosing CD remains unknown. We report a case of localized, peripancreatic, hyaline-vascular CD biopsied using EUS. The pathology results were initially interpreted as an extranodal, marginal-zone B-cell lyrnphoma. However, polyrnerase chain reaction (PCR) study for the IgH gene rearrangement revealed a polyclonal pattern. We also reviewed the relevant literature. To our knowledge, this is the first illustrated report on EUS-TCB findings of CD with its pathology results of EUS-TCB mimicked a B-cell lymphoma.展开更多

Biopsies were performed with an 18-20 G biopsy-cut (CR Bard, Inc., Covington, GA,USA) needle driven by a spring-loaded Bard biopsy gun.RESULTS: A definite diagnosis and accurate histological subtype were obtained in 61 patients with a success rate of 76.25% (61/80). Surgical sampling was performed in 19 patients (23.75%) with non-diagnostic core-needle biopsies. The success rate of CT-guided core-needle biopsy varied with the histopathologic subtypes in our group. The relatively high success rates of core-needle biopsy were noted in diffuse large B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL, 88.89%) and peripheral T-cell NHL (90%). However, the success rates were relatively low in anaplastic large cell (T/null cell) lymphoma (ALCL, 44.44%) and Hodgkin's disease (HD, 28.57%) in our group.CONCLUSION: CT-guided core-needle biopsy is a reliable means of diagnosing and classifying malignant lymphomas, and can be widely applied in the management of patients with suspected malignant lymphoma.展开更多

Movie theaters, people's homes and, nowadays, thanks to new media technology, any and every place are spaces for projecting historical narratives. They are both entertainment--by deploying strategies for constructing a "truth" about the past--and critical reflection, going against a belief in that possibility, in rendering explicit their nature as a language. Since all of these narratives presuppose an audience, a public, within different genres, styles and formats, with more realist overtones, more to the general public's taste, or anti-naturalist, in experiences for smaller audiences, it seems pertinent to discuss these issues considering that audiovisual narratives are powerful agents in constructing a memory of the past. Particularly in this text, we will examine how the most powerful communication enterprise in Brazil - Global Group - had construct a memory of the Brazilian military dictatorship (1964-1985) until 2016.展开更多

Written in English by a Lebanese Egyptian, born and raised in Alexandria, the novel investigates issues of cultural and linguistic identity, gender, the rise of national discourse, and the emergence of independent Egypt after the 1952 Revolution through the eyes of a young woman growing up in Cosmopolitan Alexandria as part of the elite but paying attention to all the political and social changes taking place in the city and the whole country展开更多

The electrodeposition process was carried out by chronopotentimetry measurement scanning from 0.1 to 0.8 C/cm2 at the current of 2 mA; 0.5 C/cm2 was found to be optimal. The pMEA modified by PPy/GR at the 0.5 C/cm2 exhibits remarkable properties; for instance, the standard deviation (SD) de- creases from 8.4614×10-al to 5.62×10 11 A, reduced by 33.52%, and the sensitivity increases from 2566.88 to 76114.65 gAmMcm2 , 29.65 times higher than the bare Pt (platinum). A good linear relationship between the current and DA concentra- tion in the range of 0.30 to 61.71 grn was obtained, with a correlation coefficient of 0.997. The sensor is meaningful for neuro- science research and the treatment of neurological diseases.展开更多
