This rise can be attributed to various factors, such as demographics, business cycles, policy, and China's economic structure. As the wage-setting mechanism for migrant workers changes from traditional minimum wage to negotiated pricing rules subject to the reservation wage, China's economy indicates that it is embracing a new era of rapid wage increases. Changes in China's income distribution will bring opportunities to the turning point of Kuznets "Inverted-U" Curve, and allow China to narrow its significant income gap. These changes will transform China's economic growth model from one that is export and investment-dependent to one that is driven by domestic consumption.展开更多

As a consequence, international markets are characterized by actors with different physiognomies for management styles and communication modes. It follows that there is an urgent need to agree on homogeneous standards of information, including for budget statements, traditionally considered as a primary source of disclosure to stakeholders of the company's economic and financial assets. Is it still possible to use a single budget that satisfies a so diverse and wider audience of potential users? In the accounting tradition, in many countries, especially for "practical" reasons, a principle of uniqueness and therefore of "neutrality" of the budget has been established which must be drafted to satisfy all potential recipients at the same time: it must be based on independent and impartial norms, to favor the particular needs of only certain categories of users. The paper represents this principle with the "prism effect": a single source of information should at the same time adequately respond to the information needs of a large and varied audience of operators. Is this still possible in changing global and "glocal" realities where most economically strong nations want to impose their own accounting languages? What are the possible solutions to the changing needs of information?展开更多

A new approach focusing on "human security" principles based on freedom, dignity, justice, equality, solidarity, tolerance, and respect articulated in the millennium declaration is needed. Achieving this requires a more integrated, inclusive, and comprehensive development framework that is able to analyze and understand the context with its progress and setbacks. The paper realizes that measuring MDGs achievement does not only need a comprehensive integrated approach, but also a defmition of risks and challenges that the region faces. Issues like poverty, inequality, unemployment of graduates, personal and collective insecurity due to conflict, migration, and brain drain, food insecurity, and gender inequality are all issues that need to be redefined when analyzing the region to suit the context. The paper concludes that in order to understand the context, re-definition of concepts like poverty reduction, participation, and empowerment is needed to make concepts more relevant to the context. Lastly, the paper reflects the new call from youth for a new development model that is not based on market economy, ends political economy of the rentier states, and emphasizes a productive oriented economy that is able to generate employment and decent work. It also emphasizes democratic governance as an only path for a sustainable participatory development that can realize ambitions and aspirations of the majority of population.展开更多

The Islamic theory of market aims to provide optimization of returns and satisfaction for all stakeholders. It also seeks to make "free market" an instrument of promoting equity and social justice for the welfare of society. It combines tenants from the free market model as well as those in command market economy. Islamic economics identifies certain functional parameters for the efficient functioning of the market to achieve the optimization of returns and social welfare like absence of middle men, prohibition of hoarding, mode of finance free from interest and usury, taxation and other wealth redistribution instruments like Zakat and Khums, asset-based and risk-sharing partnerships and stakes, etc.. It essentially creates conditions for proper functioning of a competitive market as an instrument of economic progress and social equity. In Islamic economics, the role accorded to the state is to ensure that institutions are set up and vigilance officers are appointed which create the specified condition for the proper and fair functioning of the market and hence preventing what is identified as "market failure". The role of the state is to improve the functioning of the market as opposed to that of systematic intervention. This paper tries to examine the Islamic notions of "free market" in the traditional sources like Qur'an, Hadees, the early texts of Islamic Jurisprudence, and contemporary writings on Islamic economic system and to make a comparative analysis with theories of market in capitalist and socialist frameworks. The paper will examine the extent to which Islamic notions of free market offer an alternative model to resolve the problems of growth, inequity, and risk management.展开更多

It is stressed by the school of environmental economics that as a voluntary mechanism of exchange between ecological service providers and demanders, payments for ecosystem services can help to increase inputs and improve efficiency. Ecological economics holds that the ecological system and the complexity of the policy environment restrict the functional space of market mechanisms. The negative influence of the objective of giving priority to efficiency on environmental protection and social fairness cannot be neglected; therefore, the exchange mechanism is just one type of eco-compensation models. Here, we posit that payments for ecosystem services is a good tool for environmental protection and increases inputs and efficiency. Although payment for ecosystem services is confronted with challenges in application, it is playing an increasingly important role in the field of ecological services with a relatively high degree of commodification. Payments for ecosystem services can also increase the cost effectiveness of publicly managed environmental projects with the cooperation of other policy tools.展开更多

The particularly successful cases happened in the Yangtze River Delta, namely, the two most famous models for local developments in China's economic transformation and market development: the " South Jiangsu Model" in south Jiangsu and the "Wenzhou model" in southeast Zhejiang. Although there have been debates upon the two development models for a considerably long time, both models keep being open in and compatible to local development and globalization. The two models influence each other, keep being in institutional transition through bilateral paths transplantation, i.e. learning from each other and employing cooperation in their developments. Transition and transplantation are adaptation mechanisms for local developments of the two models to participate in global economies with industrial division and labour division, and also for the two models to continuously further contribute to China's nationwide market transition and economic development.展开更多
