RBLEM introduced plethoric assumptions; while traditional FEM relied on artificial factors when determining factor of safety(FOS) and sliding surfaces. Based on the definition of structure instability that an elasto-plastic structure is not stable if it is unable to satisfy simultaneously equilibrium condition, kinematical admissibility and constitutive equations under given external loads, deformation reinforcement theory(DRT) is developed. With this theory, plastic complementary energy(PCE) can be used to evaluate the overall stability of rock slope, and the unbalanced force beyond the yield surface could be the identification of local failure. Compared with traditional slope stability analysis approaches, the PCE norm curve to strength reduced factor is introduced and the unbalanced force is applied to the determination of key sliding surfaces and required reinforcement. Typical and important issues in rock slope stability are tested in TFINE(a three-dimensional nonlinear finite element program), which is further applied to several representatives of high rock slope's stability evaluation and reinforcement engineering practice in southwest of China.展开更多

In order to keep the simplicity of an equilibrium stage model and the accu- racy of a non-equilibrium stage model, a hybrid model is developed to predict the structured packing column in cryogenic air separation. A general solution process for the equilibrium stage model is developed to solve the set of equations of the hybrid model, in which a separation efficiency function is introduced to obtain the resulting tri-diagonal matrix and its solution by the Thomas algorithm. As an example, the algorithm is applied to analyze an upper column of a cryogenic air separation plant with the capacity of 17000 m3·h-1. Rigorous simulations are conducted using Aspen RATEFRAC module to validate the approach. The temperature and composition distributions are in a good agreement with the two methods. The effects of inlet/outlet position and flow rate on the temperature and composition distributions in the column are analyzed. The results demonstrate that the hybrid model and the solution algorithms are effective in analvzin~ the distillation process for a a cryogenic structured packing column.展开更多

But LEM cannot reflect the process of progressive instability and mechanical mecha- nism on failure for rock mass while NFEM is difficult to use to solve the displacement discontinuity of weak structural plane. Combining the research with Xiangjiaba Hydropower Station project, the analysis of anti-sliding stability for segment 12# of the dam has been carried out using interface stress element method (ISEM). The results can reflect the most dangerous location, the scope and distribution of failure zone in weak structural plane, and present the process of progressive failure in dam foun- dation as well as the safety coefficient of possible sliding body. These achievements provide an important technical reference for dam foundation treatment measures. The computational results show that ISEM can naturally describe discontinuous de- formation of rock mass such as dislocation, openness and sliding. Besides, this method is characterized by good adaptability, convenient calculation and high compatibility, thus it is regarded as an effective way to make an analysis of anti-sliding stabil- ity of gravity dam展开更多
