However in our simulation, even if smooth handover in Mobile IPv6 (MIPv6) is implemented, TCP can not always achieve better performance due to packets forwarding burst. Based on the study of buffer management for smooth handover, this paper proposes an enhanced buffer management scheme for smooth handover to improve TCP performance. In this scheme, a packet-pair probing technology is adopted to estimate the available bandwidth of the new path from Previous router (Prtr) to Mobile Node (MN), which will be used by Prtr to control the buffered packets forwarding. The simulation results demonstrate that smooth handover with this scheme can achieve better TCP performance than the original scheme.展开更多
In this paper, a model of translation gateway is proposed. The communications between IPv4 network and IPv6 network are realized by using the Microsoft intermediate driver technology in environment of Windows 2000.

However, current GMPLS control plane does not distribute wavelength con- verter information to network nodes. To overcome this situation, four wavelength converter information sharing methods for GMPLS-controUed optical networks are proposed. The first two, Conversion Capability during Signaling (CCS) and Conversion Availability during Signaling (CAS), are based on the RSVP-TE signaling protocol, while the others, Conversion Capability Advertisement (CCA) and Conversion Availability Advertisement ( CAA ) , are based on the OSPF-TE routing protocol. Simulations show that CAA obtains the lowest blocking, while CCS the highest. Moreover, CAA only slightly increases the control plane load compared to CAS.展开更多
