In this paper, in an attempt to develop a faster method fo... The Fourier transform is very important to numerous applications in science and engineering. However, its usefulness is hampered by its computational expense. In this paper, in an attempt to develop a faster method for computing Fourier transforms, the authors present parallel implementations of two new algorithms developed for the type IV Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT-IV) which support the new interleaved fast Fourier transform method. The authors discuss the realizations of their implementations using two paradigms. The first involved commodity equipment and the Message-Passing Interface (MPI) library. The second utilized the RapidMind development platform and the Cell Broadband Engine (BE) processor. These experiments indicate that the authors' rotation-based algorithm is preferable to their lifting-based algorithm on the platforms tested, with increased efficiency demonstrated by their MPI implementation for large data sets. Finally, the authors outline future work by discussing an architecture-oriented method for computing DCT-IVs which promises further optimization. The results indicate a promising fresh direction in the search for efficient ways to compute Fourier transforms. 展开更多

This work proposes a 12 kW three-phase grid-connected single stage PWM DC-AC converter destined to process the energy provided by a photovoltaic array composed of 57 KC200GT PV modules with high power factor for any solar radiation. The PWM inverter modeling and the control strategy, using dqO transformation, are proposed in order to also allow the system operation as an active power filter, capable to compensate harmonic components and react power generated by the non-linear loads connected to the mains grid. An input voltage clamping technique is proposed to impose the photovoltaic operation on the maximum power point. Simulation and experimental results are presented to validate the proposed methodology for grid connected photovoltaic generation system. 展开更多

In this program, the elliptic curve algorithm is used for the key distribution. After the linear transformation, the original chaotic sequence generated by drive system will be combined to chaotic mapping, converted to an encryption key sequence and constructed as Hash table for message authentication. The communication experiment used in the letter proves that the combination of combined chaotic encryption and conventional encryption is safe, feasible, and easy to implement by software. 展开更多

A bacterial strain, Arthrobacter oxydans (B4), capable of degrading benzo[a]pyrene (BaP) in water body, was isolated from a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons-contaminated site. Effects of different factors, such as reaction time, pH value, temperature and organic nutrients, on BaP biodegradation by the strain B4 were studied. After 5 d treatment, the concentration of BaP in mineral salts medium was reduced to 0.318 mg L-1, compared to the initial concentration of 1.000 mg L-1. There was a process of acid formation during the degradation with pH falling from initial 7.01 to 4.61 at 5 d, so keeping the water body under slightly alkaline condition was propitious to BaP degradation. Strain B4 efficiently degraded BaP at 20 to 37 ~C with addition of organic nutrients. The biodegradation and transformation of BaP mainly occurred on cell surfaces, and extracellular secretions played an important role in these processes. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer analyses of metabolites showed that ring cleavage occurred in the BaP degradation process and the resulting metabolically utilizable substrates were generated as sole carbon sources for B4 growth. Furthermore, mineralization extent of metabolites was verified by determining the total organic carbon and inorganic carbon in the degradation system. 展开更多

The paper presents a new fast integral equation solver for Maxwell's equations in 3-D layered media. First, the spectral domain dyadic Green's function is derived, and the 0-th and the 1-st order Hankel transforms or Sommerfeld-type integrals are used to recover all components of the dyadic Green's function in real space. The Hankel transforms are performed with the adaptive generalized Gaussian quadrature points and window functions to minimize the computational cost. Subsequently, a fast integral equation solver with O(N2zNxNy log(NzNy)) in layered media is developed by rewriting the layered media integral operator in terms of Hankel transforms and using the new fast multipole method for the n-th order Bessel function in 2-D. Computational cost and parallel efficiency of the new algorithm are presented. 展开更多

A series of novel and simple ligands based on a biscarboxyl-functionalized benzimidazole derivative were synthesized.The experiments showed that the ligand L2 as a low molecular weight(LMW) hydrogelator could form stable metallo-hydrogels in the presence of up to 0.3 equiv.of lead ions.The metallo-hydrogels were characterized using powder X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy(SEM),and Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR) spectroscopic techniques.When the molar ratio of L2:Pb2+ was in the range of 1:0.3 to 1:0.5 a translucent gel was produced.When the L2:Pb2+ molar ratio was higher than 1:0.5 the resulting gel tended to be opaque.The morphologies of these metallo-hydrogels were L2/Pb ratio dependent,ranging from worm-like to rod-shaped and nanofibrous.The FT-IR and X-ray diffraction(XRD) studies revealed that L2-Pb complexation was the main driving force for the formation of the metallo-hydrogels.In addition,these metallo-hydrogels exhibited outstanding thermostability and thermoreversibility,and displayed a reversible sol-gel transition induced by changes in pH and EDTA concentration.Importantly,ligand L2 showed an excellent capacity for the removal of Pb 2+ in aqueous solution through the formation of metallo-hydrogels.At a L2:Pb molar ratio of 1:0.5 and below,the concentration of residual Pb2+ was as low as 7.6×10-5 mol/L in aqueous solution,and the removal ratio was as high as 95.4%.These results demonstrate that multi-channel responsive smart metallo-hydrogels have the potential to be widely applied in materials science,and might provide the basis for lead pollution capture and removal. 展开更多
