This article describes the development of a coalescence model using various CFD work packages,and is validated using as toluene water model system.Numerical studies were performed to describe droplet interactions in l...This article describes the development of a coalescence model using various CFD work packages,and is validated using as toluene water model system.Numerical studies were performed to describe droplet interactions in liquid–liquid test systems.Current models use adjustable parameters to describe these phenomena.The research in the past decades led to different correlations to model coalescence and breakage depending on the chemical system and the apparatus geometry.Especially the complexity of droplet coalescence requires a detailed investigation of local phenomena during the droplet interaction.Computational fluid dynamics(CFD) studies of single droplet interactions were performed and validated with experimental results to improve the understanding of the local hydrodynamics and film drainage during coalescence.The CFD simulations were performed for the interaction of two differently sized droplets at industrial relevant impact velocities.The experimental verification and validation of the numerical results were done with standardized high-speed imaging studies by using a special test cell with a pendant and a free rising droplet.An experimental based algorithm was implemented in the open source code OpenF OAM to account for the contact time and the dimple formation.The standard European Federation of Chemical Engineering(EFCE) test system toluene/water was used for the numerical studies and the experimental investigations as well.The results of the CFD simulations are in good accordance with the observed coalescence behavior in the experimental studies.In addition,a detailed description of local phenomena,like film rupture,velocity gradients,pressures and micro-droplet entrainment could be obtained.展开更多
Objective:To investigate the efficacy and possible mechanism of action of warm needling moxibustion combined with entecavir in the treatment of compensated cirrhosis due to chronic hepatitis B(CHB).Methods:Ninety pati...Objective:To investigate the efficacy and possible mechanism of action of warm needling moxibustion combined with entecavir in the treatment of compensated cirrhosis due to chronic hepatitis B(CHB).Methods:Ninety patients were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group,with 45 patients in each group.The control group was given oral entecavir,and the observation group was given additional warm needling moxibustion.The serum alanine transaminase(ALT),aspartate transaminase(AST),albumin(ALB)levels,portal vein internal diameter,splenic vein internal diameter,spleen thickness,and liver hardness were compared before and after treatment.The serum hyaluronic acid(HA),laminin(LN),procollagen typeⅢ(PCⅢ),typeⅣcollagen(Ⅳ-C),interleukin(IL)-21,and platelet-derived growth factor(PDGF)levels were also measured.Results:After treatment,the serum ALT and AST levels decreased(P<0.05),and the serum ALB levels increased(P<0.05)in both groups.The serum ALT and AST levels were lower in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05),and the ALB level was higher in the observation group(P<0.05).The portal vein internal diameter,splenic vein internal diameter,spleen thickness,and liver hardness values were reduced in both groups after treatment(P<0.05),and were lower in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).The serum HA,LN,PCⅢ,andⅣ-C levels were reduced in both groups(P<0.05),and were lower in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).In the control group,the serum IL-21 level decreased(P<0.05),but the serum PDGF level did not change significantly(P>0.05);in the observation group,the serum IL-21 and PDGF levels decreased significantly(P<0.05)and were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Warm needling moxibustion combined with entecavir treatment can improve liver function,reduce the inner diameters of the portal vein and splenic vein,spleen thickness,and liver hardness,and improve liver fibrosis indicators in patients with CHB cirrhosis,which may be related to the reduction of serum IL-21 and PDGF levels.展开更多

Methods: Sixty cases with hypertension due to type 2 diabetes were randomized into two groups. Thirty cases in the treatment group were treated with acupuncture and oral extended release nifedipine tablets, while 30 cases in the control group were treated with oral extended release nifedipine tablets alone. After 15 d of treatment, the blood pressure and NPY contents in two groups were observed. Results: The blood pressure and NPY contents in the two groups were remarkably reduced (P〈0.01) and the effect in the treatment group was superior to the control group (P〈0.01). Conclusion: Combined acupuncture and medication can significantly reduce blood pressure and the NPY contents.展开更多

Methods: Acupuncture, moxibustion, nasal inhalation and oral administration of Chinese materia medica were used as a composite treatment for different constitutions. The relations of the patient's age, syndrome type and course of disease to the therapeutic effect were investigated. Results: Among the treated 92 cases, marked effectiveness occurred in 68, effectiveness in 16 and ineffectiveness in 8, with a total effective rate of 91.3%. The therapeutic effect was not good in the patients who belonged to dry heat in lung meridian type and had the course of disease for more than 20 years. Conclusion: A combination of acupuncture and medicine has an exact therapeutic effect on allergic rhinitis.展开更多
