Prevention and Utilization of Invasive Plants of Agriculture and Forestry in Guangdong Province

Guangdong has become a major＂window＂ for invasive plants, and the largest zone, where cross-border and intercontinental migration frequencies reach the peak. The invasive plants in Guangdong are dominated by Mikania micrantha, Eichhornia crassipes, Alternanthera philoxeroides, Eupatorium odoratum, and Wedelia trilobata. It is an important way for treating the invasive plants by exploring the prevention methods and making ful use of the characteristics of the invasive plants, and it is of great significance to prevent and utilize alien species in a scientific and effective way in order to control the invasive plants with minimal cost.

Sugarcane Requirement of Water and Effect of Fertigation on Sugarcane

The sugarcane is a main sugar crop in China. The seasonal drying is one of the problems that influence the improvement of output and quality of sugarcane in China. The experimental results for the water requirement and fertigation of the sugarcane showed, that the distribution of the rainfall in spring, autumn and winter, all could not suit the requirements for sugarcane growth. Detailedly, it can suit that sugarcane requirement of 74.4%, 68.6% and 35.7% respectively at seedling emerging stage, tillering stage and mature stage according to sugarcane growth. The drought has already limited the yield of sugarcane. Application of fertigation can enhance the fertilizer use efficiency, and it is also a water saving technique in sugarcane production.

Study on the Characteristics of Florescence and Pollen in Lagerstroemia speciosa

[ Objective] To study the characteristics of florescence and pollen in Lagerstroemia speciosa. [ Method ] The process of flower opening and pollen tube germination of Lagerstroemia speciosa was observed and the pollen viability was determined through in vitro germination. [ Result] Sepals of L. speciosa started to diverge at 4：30 am, at 7： 00 am petals flatten up, anther diverged, and the stigma secreted a large number of mucus, it was the best time for artificial pollination. Boric acid and sucrose had a great effect on in vitro pollen germination of L. speciosa, the combination which made highest rate of pollen germination, was sucrose 150 g/L ＋ boric acid 20 mg/L ＋ CaCI2 10 mg/L. Through the fluorescence microscope, it was known that four hours after flowering, a lot of pollen grains germinated on the stigma, six hours after flowering, lots of pollen tubes entered the style and reached to 1/4 length of the style, 12 hours after flowering, pollen tubes concentrated into a beam forward, and reached to 1/2 length of the style, 24 hours after flowering, lots of pollen tubes entered the ovary in a beam and then fertilized and produced seeds. [ Conclusion] The results provide some basis for utilizing L. speciosa to breed.

Cloning and Sequence Analysis of HN and F Protein Genes from a Strain of Goose Paramyxovirus

[ Objective] The study was to clone HN and F genes from GX1 strain of goose paramyxovirus and analyze their sequences. [ Method] According to the full nucleotide sequence of GPV-SF02 strain of goose paramyxovirus, two pairs of pdmers were designed to amplify the HN and F genes from GX1 strain of goose paramyxovirus isolated from diseased goose in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region; the amplified products were ligated into pMD18-T vector and sequenced. [ Result ] HN and F genes of this strain tested were 1 716 and 1 662 bp in full nucleotide length, respectively; both showed the homologues of about 97.3% with GPV- SF02 strain, of 80.3% -97.5% with strains LaSota, F48E9 and JS, of just 84.8% with Miyadera strain. [ Conclusion] The results show that isolated strain BX1 matches to virulent APMV-1 strain, belonging to genotype Ⅶ of APMV-1 strain.

Environmental Regulation,Pollution Treatment Productivity,and Industrial Environmental TFP in China

Amidst growing environmental protection intensity by the Chinese government, this paper investigates the effects of environmental regulation on China＇s industrial pollution treatment productivity and environmental TFP. By estimating China＇s pollution treatment productivity between 2001 and 2008 and analyzing environmental regulation intensity and the effects of the relevant factors and pollution treatment productivity using panel data, this paper discovers that （1） pollution treatment productivity contributed a significant share of about 40% to industrial environmental TFP during the investigation period; （2） environmental regulation may not necessarily cause adverse impacts on pollution treatment efficiency and productivity but demonstrates a U-shaped relationship： when the share of pollution treatment cost in industrial value-added is above the range of 3.8%-5.1%, environmental regulation is likely to promote pollution treatment productivity and thus environmental TFP Judging by the estimation result, enhancing environmental protection and expediting the development of ecological civilization are conducive to China ＂s economic transition towards an intensive, efficient, circular, and sustainable development pattern. China＇s current industrial development has the capacity to tolerate a rather demanding level of pollution treatment and management and China needs to further rely on energy conservation and the environmental production industries to promote the progress of pollution treatment technologies.

Rise and Fall of Recent Chinese Coastal Resort Development:Case of Beihai Silver Beach, Guangxi, China

Based upon a case study of Silver Beach coastal resort of Beihai, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, this article examines the rise and fall of Chinese coastal tourist resort development since the 1980s. It explores the causes for and responses to the decline of Chinese coastal resorts. The data were collected through in-depth interviews with twelve local key information providers, and secondary information sources such as government archives, survey reports, and resort plans. It was found that the rise and fall of Chinese coastal resorts in the last three decades is closely linked to the transitional reform from a central planned economy to a market economy. Three stages of coastal tourism development were identified in a sequence of rapid growth, decline and redevelopment. It was government financial funds and high local government involvement that promoted the rapid expansion of coastal resorts during the 1980s. However, coastal resort decline occurred when transitional reform was intensified and deflationary policy executed af- ter 1992. Institutional failure is found to be the main reason of Chinese coastal resorts decline since the mid-1990s. The government-dominated pattern could not be sustained and should be restructured in forthcoming coastal tourism de- velopment in China. Revival strategies should emphasize enhancing market-oriented reform in the declining resorts on both suoolv and demand sides.

Therefore, great and prolonged efforts should be made to govern celebrity advertising in a multi-pronged way： strengthening legal supervision on the basis of clearly defined false advertising; establishing early warning and punishing systems including pre-qualification system, filing system and banning system; promoting public interest litigation system; increasing consumers＇ media literacy.

Analysis of TLR4 and TLR2 polymorphisms in inflammatory bowel disease in a Guangxi Zhuang population

AIM: To study the polymorphisms of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) gene Asp299Gly, Thr399Ile and TLR2 gene Arg753Gln, Arg677Trp and susceptibility to inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in the Zhuang population from Guangxi, China. METHODS: A case-control study was performed from February 2007 to October 2011 which included 146 Zhuang patients with IBD in the experimental group and 164 healthy Zhuang subjects who acted as the control group. All patients and healthy subjects were from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China. Genomic DNA was extracted from intestinal tissue by the phenol chloroform method. TLR4 gene Asp299Gly, Thr399Ile and TLR2 gene Arg753Gln, Arg677Trp were amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and then detected by PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP). RESULTS: The TLR4 gene Asp299Gly was digested using Nco Ⅰ restriction enzyme, and a single band of 249 bp was observed which showed that it was a wild type (AA). The TLR4 gene Thr399Ile was digested using Hinf Ⅰrestriction enzyme and only the wild type (CC) was detected. In addition, the TLR2 gene Arg-677Trp was digested using Aci Ⅰ restriction enzyme and only the wild type (CC) was detected. The TLR2 gene Arg753Gln was digested using Pst Ⅰ restriction enzyme. Only the wild type (GG) as a single band of 254 bp was observed during RFLP. Overall, no heterozygous or homozygous single nucleotide polymorphism mutations were found in patients with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis both in the TLR4 gene Asp299Gly, Thr399Ile and the TLR2 gene Arg677Trp, Arg753Gln in the Zhuang population from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China. CONCLUSION: The TLR4 gene Asp299Gly, Thr399Ile and TLR2 gene Arg753Gln, Arg677Trp polymorphisms may not be associated with IBD in the Zhuang population from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China.

Political communication is an interactive process by which politicians transmit information and political discourse to voters and receive feedback through media. This communication process is a two way process of communication between politicians and voters by which, on the one hand, politicians transmit their thoughts and wills to voters, and on the other hand voters communicate their opinions to politicians, after interpreting, in different ways, the messages that they received. The key objective of political communication is to persuade or influence and cause voters, who are the target audience, to vote for a particular party by convincing them. In order to ensure the smooth operation of political communication processes it is essential that the parliament, government, political parties, non-governmental organizations, environmentalist groups and pressure groups also actually take part in this process The decisive and transformative power of mass media and advertising phenomenon on the political systems has grown to become more and more influential in the recent years. The use of information considerably increases in line with the increase in the use of propaganda. No doubL this information age has turned the world into ＂a universal village＂. On the one hand, the concentration in media and on the other hand rapid developments in Internet technologies expose societies to the bombardment of messages. Being exposed to or bombarded by numerous varieties of messages in their daily lives lead to the creation of variabilities and instabilities in individual＇s behaviors. Accordingly, political organizations while trying to convey messages to masses through political communication and advertising have to deliver systematic, comprehensible and influential messages by taking the advantage of visualization as much as possible.

Shifting Goal Posts： The Interplay Between Political Advertisements and Editorial Slants in Newspapers During Elections

Advertising revenue is generally regarded as the lifeblood of the mass media since it largely contributes to the financial fortunes of both commercial and so-called public media houses. There is a consensus among political economy scholars that gives advertisers power over media content. It has also been argued that advertisers usually do not associate with ideological enemies. This research therefore sought to find out whether political advertisements especially, during election time, influence media content and whether political advertisers do not associate with media houses they are not ideologically compatible with. During election times, political parties also become big advertisers and newspapers together with broadcasting media compete to get advertisements from political parties so as to boost their financial fortunes. The research focused on the March 29, 2008 Zimbabwe harmonised elections with Network Guardian News a Kwekwe based privately owned community newspaper being used as a case study. This study utilised critical discourse analysis on purposively selected newspaper stories published during the period under study; while in-depth unstructured interviews with editors, reporters from the newspaper and politicians were also conducted to gather information. The findings revealed that in spite of the pro-ZANU-PF Network Guardian News newspaper carrying both MDc and ZANU-PF advertisements, its editorial stance remained hostile to the MDC-T party.

Genetic polymorphism of glutathione-S-transferase M1 and T1 in associated with carcinogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma and nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Objective:The aim of our study was to investigate the distribution of glutathione-S-transferase M1 (GSTM1) and T1 (GSTT1) gene polymorphism in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients in a high risk area in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region,China.Methods:It was a case-control study.The genotypes of GSTM1 and GSTT1 in 181 HCC and 126 NPC patients were compared with 641 matched control.The GSTM1 and GSTT1 genotypes were detected using conventional multiplex PCR method.Results:The frequency of GSTM1 null genotype in HCC,NPC and control groups were 65.2%,61.9% and 47.6% respectively,significant difference between these two cancer groups and control was observed (P < 0.01).The frequency of GSTT1 null genotype in HCC,NPC and control groups were 57.5%,62.7% and 43.1% respectively,significant difference between these two cancer groups and control was observed (P < 0.01).Conclusion:The distributions of GSTM1 and T1 genes are polymorphic in HCC and NPC patients in a high risk area in Guangxi,individuals with GSTM1-null or GSTT1-null would have an increasing risk of developing HCC and NPC,especially when combination with virus infection (HBV or EBV) and absorbed chemical toxin (AFB1 or cigarette).

Relativistic Treatment of Massive Klein-Gordon Particle by Modified Generalized Hulthen Potential

Approximate bound state solutions of spinless particles with a special case of equal scalar and vector modified generalized Hulthen potential has been obtained under the massive Klein-Gordon equation. The energy eigenvalues and the corresponding wave functions expressed in terms of a Jacobi polynomial are also obtained using the parametric generalization of the Nikiforov-Uvarov （NU） method. Under limiting cases our result are in agreement with the existing literature. Our results could be used to study the interactions and binding energies of the central potential for diatomic molecules in the relativistic framework which have many applications in physics and some others related disciplines.

A Political Aspect of the Korean Wave in Taiwan

Studies of the Korean Wave in Taiwan have construed the genesis of the Wave as either accidental, evitable, or taken it for granted. Problematising the genesis of the Korean Wave in Taiwan, the paper proposes to see it as the product of social and political forces pertaining to a specific moment of history of Taiwan. Other than deeming the genesis categorically as a cultural instance, it argues that the Wave is in effect the production manufactured at the convergence of social political changes at a historical moment unprecedented in Taiwan history. To respond to the new social and political conditions, the Korean Wave is deliberately appropriated as the extension of social institution and political control for the purpose of prolonging class interests of the traditional rulers. By means of mammoth circulation and transmission of print media and television broadcast, the Wave is immediately called into being and captivates a throng of Taiwan Residents audience. In return, the overwhelming popularity of Korean TV dramas is capitalized on politically besides socially and culturally in order to meet new needs. Resiting the Korean Wave in Taiwan in the social and political processes at the specific moment of Taiwan history, its genesis is thereby complicated and overdetermined on top of the advanced and promised drama qualities and productions. Inevitably a limited view, however, the paper is hoped to provide an alternative aspect to the studies of the Korean Wave either in Taiwan or other regions.

Economically-Driven Partisanship-- Official Advertising and Political Coverage in Mexico： The Case of Morelia

Partisanship and dependence on government support have characterized Mexican media along its history. That is, on the one hand, the journalistic practice has been determined by the alignment towards a political stance. On the other, thanks to the intervention of the state, news outlets---especially newspapers--have survived in an economically difficult environment. Nowadays, the support from the government mainly comes in the form of official advertising, which has become a token to trade revenues for publicity. Therefore, this paper argues that media partisanship in Mexico has shifted from ideological to economic. Based upon a case study conducted in Morelia （the capital city of Michoacan）, this article analyzes the impact of the official advertising on the political information published by the local newspapers.

ON FIRST INTEGRALS OF POLYNOMIAL AUTONOMOUS SYSTEMS

Using Carleman linearization procedure, this paper investigates the problem of first integrals of polynomial autonomous systems and proposes a procedure to find the first integrals of polynomial family for the systems. A generalized eigenequation is obtained and then the problem is reduced to the solvability of the eigenequation. The result is a generalization of some known results.

Analytical Periodic Wave and Soliton Solutions of the Generalized Nonautonomous Nonlinear Schrdinger Equation in Harmonic and Optical Lattice Potentials

We construct analytical periodic wave and soliton solutions to the generalized nonautonomous nonlinear Schr6dinger equation with timeand space-dependent distributed coefficients in harmonic and optical lattice potentials. We utilize the similarity transformation technique to obtain these solutions. Constraints for the dispersion coefficient, the nonlinearity, and the gain （loss） coefficient are presented at the same time. Various shapes of periodic wave and soliton solutions are studied analytically and physically. Stability analysis of the solutions is discussed numerically.
