Due to the long-term plate tectonic movements in southwestern China, the in-situ stress field in deep formations is complex. When passing through deep soft-rock mass under non-hydrostatic high in-situ stress field, tunnels will suffer serious asymmetric deformation. There is no available support design method for tunnels under such a situation in existing studies to clarify the support time and support stiffness. This study first analyzed the mechanical behavior of tunnels in non-hydrostatic in-situ stress field and derived the theoretical equations of the ground squeezing curve(GSC)and ground loosening curve(GLC).Then, based on the convergence confinement theory, the support design method of deep soft-rock tunnels under non-hydrostatic high in-situ stress field was established considering both squeezing and loosening pressures. In addition, this method can provide the clear support time and support stiffness of the second layer of initial support. The proposed design method was applied to the Wanhe tunnel of the China-Laos railway in China.Monitoring data indicated that the optimal support scheme had a good effect on controlling the tunnel deformation in non-hydrostatic high in-situ stress field.Field applications showed that the secondary lining could be constructed properly. 展开更多

The hot compression tests of 7Mo super austenitic stainless(SASS)were conducted to obtain flow curves at the temperature of 1000-1200℃and strain rate of 0.001 s^(-1)to 1 s^(-1).To predict the non-linear hot deformation behaviors of the steel, back propagation-artificial neural network(BP-ANN)with 16×8×8 hidden layer neurons was proposed. The predictability of the ANN model is evaluated according to the distribution of mean absolute error(MAE)and relative error. The relative error of 85%data for the BP-ANN model is among±5%while only 42.5%data predicted by the Arrhenius constitutive equation is in this range.Especially,at high strain rate and low temperature, the MAE of the ANN model is 2.49%,which has decreases for 18.78%,compared with conventional Arrhenius constitutive equation. 展开更多

In order to develop the appropriate constitutive equation which can precisely model high temperature flow stress of 6063 Al alloy, a series of isothermal hot compression tests were performed at temperatures from 573 to 773 K and strain rates from 0.5 to 50 s?1 on a Gleeble?1500 thermo-simulation machine. Zener–Hollomon parameter in an exponent-type equation was used to describe the combined effects of temperature and strain rate on hot deformation behaviour of 6063 Al alloy, whereas the influence of strain was incorporated in the developed constitutive equation by considering material constants (α,n,Q andA) to be 4th order polynomial functions of strain. The results show that the developed constitutive equation can accurately predict high temperature flow stress of 6063 Al alloy, which demonstrates that it can be suitable for simulating hot deformation processes such as extrusion and forging, and for properly designing the deformation parameters in engineering practice. 展开更多

The hot compression tests of Al-Zn-Mg-Cu-Zr aluminum alloys (7056 alloy and 7150 alloy) were performed in a temperature range from 300 to 450 °C and at strain rate range from 0.01 to 10 s-1. The results show that the true stress-true strain curves exhibit a peak stress at a critical strain, then the flow stresses decrease monotonically until high strains, showing a dynamic flow softening. The peak stresses depend on the temperature compensated strain rate, which can be represented by the Zener-Hollomon parameter Z in the hyperbolic-sine equation with hot deformation activation energy of 244.64 kJ/mol for 7056 alloy and 229.75 kJ/mol for 7150 alloy, respectively, while the peak stresses for the former are lower than those for the latter under the similar compression condition. The deformed microstructures consist of a great amount of precipitates within subgrains in the elongated grains at high Z value and exhibit well formed subgrains in the recrystallized grains at low Z value. The smaller subgrains and greater density of fine precipitates in 7150 alloy are responsible for the high peak stresses because of the substructural strengthening and precipitating hardening compared with 7056 alloy. 展开更多

A modified Swift type flow stress—strain relation was presented in order to describe the uniaxial tension test curve reasonably. The FLD-strain (forming limit diagram made up of limit strain) of 5754O aluminum alloy sheet was calculated based on the two flow stress—strain relations using Yld2000-2d yield function. By comparing the theoretical and experimental results, it is found that the calculated FLD-strain based on the modified Swift flow stress—strain relation can reasonably describe the experimental results. However, though the common Voce flow stress—strain relation can describe the deformation behavior during homogenous deformation phase accurately, the FLD-strain calculated based on it is obviously lower than the experimental result. It is concluded that the higher the hardening rate of sheet metal is, the higher the forming limit is. A method for determining the reasonable flow stress—strain relation is recommended for describing the material behavior during inhomogenous phase and the forming limit of sheet metal. 展开更多

Size effects on plastic deformation behaviors in uniaxial micro tension of pure nickel fine wires were investigated experimentally, including flow stress and inhomogeneous deformation behaviors. It is found that with the increase of grain size or the decrease of number of grains across the diameter, the flow stress decreases and inhomogeneous deformation degree increases. When there are less than 9.3 grains across the diameter, the flow stress decreases quickly with the increase of grain size. Then, the flow stress size effect in micro tension of fine wires is revealed by a proposed model by introducing the grain boundary size factor. These results also indicate that both the fracture strain and stress decrease with the increase of grain size. When there are less than 14.7 grains across the diameter, both the fracture strain and stress decrease quickly. This indicates that the inhomogeneous deformation degree in micro tension increases with the decrease of the number of grains across the diameter. The fracture topography tends to be more and more irregular with the decrease of the number of grains across the diameter. Then, the formation mechanism of irregular fracture topography was analyzed considering the inhomogeneous distribution of microstructure when there are a few grains across the diameter. 展开更多

The hot compression behavior of a wrought Mg-6Zn-1Al-0.3Mn magnesium alloy was investigated using Gleeble test at 200-400 °C with strain rates ranging from 0.01 to 7 s-1. The true stress-strain curves show that the hot deformation behavior significantly depends on the deformation temperature and strain rate. The calculated hot deformation activation energy Q is 166 kJ/mol with a stress exponent n=5.99, and the constitutive equation is deduced to be ε& =3.16×1013[sinh(0.010σ)]5.99exp [-1.66×105/(RT)]· Deformation microstructure shows that the incompletely dynamically recrystallized grains can be found at grain boundaries and twins with the strain rates ranging from 0.01 to 1 s^-1 at 250 °C, and completely dynamic recrystallization occurs when the temperature is 350 °C or above during hot compression, the size of recrystallized grains decreases with the increment of the strain rate at the same temperature. The effect of cold plastic deformation between solution treatment and artificial aging on the age-hardening response and mechanical properties of alloy was investigated by micro-hardness test, tensile test, optical microscopy(OM) and TEM observation. After solution treatment at 420 ℃ for 1 h,three kinds of pre-deformation strains,i.e.0,5% and 10%,were applied to extruded ZM61 bars.Age-hardening curves show that pre-deformation can significantly accelerate the precipitation kinetics and increase peak-hardness value;however,as pre-deformation strain rises from 5% to 10%,there is no gain in peak hardness value. The room temperature(RT) tensile properties demonstrate that increasing the pre-deformation degree can enhance the yield strength(YS) and ultimate tensile strength(UTS) but moderately reduce elongation(EL);furthermore, the enhancement of YS is larger than that of UTS.No twin can be observed in 5% pre-deformed microstructure;however,a large number of twins are activated after 10% pre-deformation.The peak-aged TEM microstructure shows that pre-deformation can increase the number density of rod-shaped β 1 ' precipitates which play a key role in strengthening ZM61 alloy. 展开更多

In order to have a better understanding of the hot deformation behavior of the as-solution-treated Mg-4 Zn-2 Sn-2 Al(ZAT422) alloy, a series of compression experiments with a height reduction of 60% were performed in the temperature range of 498-648 K and the strain rate range of 0.01-5 s~(-1) on a Gleeble 3800 thermo-mechanical simulator. Based on the regression analysis by Arrhenius type equation and Avrami type equation of flow behavior, the activation energy of deformation of ZAT422 alloy was determined as 155.652 k J/mol, and the constitutive equations for flow behavior and the dynamic recrystallization(DRX) kinetic model of ZAT422 alloy were established. Microstructure observation shows that when the temperature is as low as 498 K, the DRX is not completed as the true strain reaches 0.9163. However, with the temperature increasing to 648 K, the lower strain rate is more likely to result in some grains' abnormal growth. 展开更多

Numerical simulations and field tests were used to investigate the changes in ground stress and deformation of, and gas flow from, a protected coal seam under which an extra-thin coal seam was drilled. The geological conditions were: 0.5 meter mining height, 18.5 meter coal seam spacing and a hard limestone/fine sandstone inter-stratum. For these conditions we conclude: 1) the overlying coal-rock mass bends and sinks without the appearance of a caving zone, and 2) the protected coal seam is in the bending zone and undergoes expansion deformation in the stress-relaxed area. The deformation was 12 mm and the relative defor- mation was 0.15%. As mining proceeds, deformation in the protected layer begins as compression, then becomes a rapid expansion and, finally, reaches a stable value. A large number of bed separation crannies are created in the stress-relaxed area and the permeability coefficient of the coal seam was increased 403 fold. Grid penetration boreholes were evenly drilled toward the protected coal seam to affect pressure relief and gas drainage. This made the gas pressure decrease from 0.75 to 0.15 MPa, the gas content decrease from 13 to 4.66 m3/t and the gas drainage reach 64%. 展开更多

In order to understand the change rules of stress-displacement in surrounding rocks of dynamic pressure roadways in deep mines and to obtain a theoretical basis for analyses of roadway stability and designs of support, we established a coupling equation of adjacent rock strength, mining stress and supporting resistance on the basis of an elastic-plastic theory of mechanics. We obtained an analytical solution for stress and displacement distribution of elastic and plastic regions in surrounding rock of dy-namic pressure roadway.. Based on this theory, we have analyzed the changes in stress-displacement in elastic and plastic regions of surrounding rocks of dynamic pressure roadways in the Haizi Coal Mine. The results show that: 1) radial and tangential stress change violently within the first 4 m from the inner surface of a roadway after excavation; radial stress increases while tangential stress decreases within a range of about 6 m from the inner surface of the roadway as a function of q3; 2) radial and tangential stress increase with an increase in the mining pressure coefficient k; the increase in the rate of tangential stress is greater than that of ra-dial stress; 3) the radial displacement of the inner surface of roadways decreases with an increase in q3, provided that k remains unchanged. 展开更多

Expansive concrete is used in the steel tube of Concrete-filled steel tubular(CFST)columns to solve the problem of steel-to-concrete debonding.Self-stress is generated between concrete and steel plate due to concrete expansion, which can effectively improve the mechanical performance of CFST columns.Deformation tests were conducted on concrete and CFST columns, respectively. The free deformation of concrete and circumferential deformation of steel tubes were measured and analyzed.A calculation method was proposed to evaluate the hoop strain,self-stress and creep deformation of the CFST columns. The test and calculation results indicate that the proper addition of expansion agent in the internal concrete can keep concrete expansive and generate self-stresses for a long time. The expansion and self-stresses prevent the debonding between the steel tube and the internal concrete.Increasing the dosage of expansive agents and reducing the curing age both increase the expansive deformation and self-stress of CFST columns.Increasing the tube thickness reduces the expansive deformation and increases the initial self-stress of CFST columns. 展开更多
