This study introduces ...The influence of an acoustic logging tool on borehole guided wave propagation should be considered in the processing and inversion of the guided waves for formation acoustic property estimation. This study introduces an equivalent-tool theory that models the tool response using an elastic rod with an effective modulus and applies the theory to multipole acoustic logging for both wireline and logging while drilling （LWD） conditions. The theory can be derived by matching the tool’s acoustic impedance/conductance to that of the multipole acoustic wavefield around the tool, assuming that tool radius is small compared to wavelength. We have validated the effectiveness and accuracy of the theory using numerical modeling and its practicality using field data. In field data applications, one can calibrate the tool parameters by fitting the theoretical dispersion curve to field data without having to consider the actual tool’s structure and composition. We use a dispersion correction example to demonstrate an application of the simple theory to field data processing and the validity of the processing result.展开更多

However,it has special needs for the in-stallation aids,and it is challenging to install tie-in structures due to its low bending stiffness. The building brick game chosen for analysis was the Arckit, since it is suitable for the archite...This article deals with the usage of building bricks as a didactic material for the development of architectural design. The building brick game chosen for analysis was the Arckit, since it is suitable for the architectural practice. It is estimated that this game can contribute to the design, representation and presentation of projects. In order to investigate in which aspects Arckit presents possibilities of applications, as well as limitations of use, the article approaches the importance of building bricks as a didactic tool and its use in the field of the architectural design process. From a literature review and an empirical experience, this article reports a qualitative research, where the applicability of the Arckit game was checked. Through a critical reflection based on that experience, it was possible to conclude that whereas its limitations to urban form and linked to the formal vocabulary that composes the grammar of these bricks, the Arckit building bricks represent in architecture a playful and experimental way to think and design, fomenting the creativity and the spatial perception, resulting in a particular experience that can make architecture better connected with dreams and joy.展开更多
Headspace solid phase microextraction chromatography （HS-SPME/GC） was evaluated as a tool in determining the rate of oxidation in oxidized soybean oil samples by measuring the production of hexanal as a secondary ma...Headspace solid phase microextraction chromatography （HS-SPME/GC） was evaluated as a tool in determining the rate of oxidation in oxidized soybean oil samples by measuring the production of hexanal as a secondary major volatile breakdown product of linoleic acid. Samples of the headspace taken from sealed 20 mL vials, incubated 30 min at 50 ~C followed by 5 min adsorption, were injected into a gas chromatograph with 2 min thermal desorption. In applying SPME, different analytical conditions were evaluated. The linearity of response of the volatiles for the HS-SPME/GC procedure using a carboxen-polydimethylsiloxane fiber was determined from 3 g of mineral oil spiked with a hexanal standard solution at different levels. Using the optimized extraction conditions, an R value close to unity （R = 0.999） was found, and the repeatability （n = 1 l） was 6.31%. The results indicated that hexanal is linearly related to peroxide value （PV） only intermediate PV ranges （10-18 meq/kg）. The study also showed that HS-SPME/GC procedure was a simple and reproducible method for the analysis of hexanal in the HS of commercial soybean oil samples, and is useful as a quality control and research tool for the evaluation of flavor quality and shelf life of vegetable oils.展开更多
New digital trends are transforming the media industry landscape, modifying elemental characteristics and attitudes of companies as well as of consumers. Firms often claim that their presence in social media （SM） is...New digital trends are transforming the media industry landscape, modifying elemental characteristics and attitudes of companies as well as of consumers. Firms often claim that their presence in social media （SM） is a key element to success. SM helps companies rethink the traditional one-way flow of their marketing messages and to incorporate a new interactive pattern into their communications. Nevertheless, these tendencies involve problems of strategic myopia for firms that do not structurally integrate these tools. One main problem is that institutions can rarely differentiate between the various types of SM and the attributes thereof, while the literature equally reveals a number of contradictions in the subject. The present conceptual paper lays the foundations of a strategic approach to SM and discusses its theoretical implications. Following an overview on the concept of SM, through a content analysis of the specialized management literature （n = 14）, we present various best practices and reflect on the apparent lack of strategic thinking in using SM as a marketing application. Then, we compare these practical examples with general marketing strategy theory. By merging theory and practice, we aim to provide an insight towards a well-founded application of SM as a genuinely strategic marketing tool.展开更多
